Thank you for the ARC! Unfortunately I had to DNF as I realised this was the 6th book of an established series and was really confused.
I love Tam DeRudder Jackson's "For Me" series with the rock band so I was interested to try another of her books. I hadn't read any others in the series or any of this type of book before either, so it took me a bit to get into the storyline and world. I have read books that have a long series before and what I liked about this one was that Jackson didn't overly summarize the world for us, and dumb it down for the readers who might have already read every one of the previous books. It makes it harder for those of us starting the series in the middle, but it makes the book itself much more enjoyable.
I enjoyed the couple, Baz and Delaney, and was happy they were able to find each other since they both had been waiting for years to find their mates and had given up hope on some level. Following them meeting and getting together was a nice storyline for this installment of the series. I will definitely be reading Jackson's books in the future.
This author was new to me but I loved the setting for this story! The aspect of there being shields and talismans was so different from anything I had read but so perfect. I really enjoyed this take on soul mates. I loved how the author made the Goddesses so relatable and human. They weren't without their own flaws and made mistakes just like everyone else. The sexual tension was everything between these two characters! I was so excited on where the story was going. The bad boy from the other side of the tracks with the woman who had essentially given up on finding her special someone. It was a great take on the enemies to lovers trope. I loved how Delaney was a bad a$$ in her own right without Baz too. It was also great to see how Delaney got to know the real Baz and had so much faith in his character and morals. I will definitely be reading more of this series.
Three years ago, Kieran Baz Cormac is a warrior who turned twenty-eight years old. Which meant he would never find his talisman. He also had to decide if he was going to go rogue or stay a warrior. Once they had bonded, they knew they would have trouble. The touching of just their lips was enough for the bonding to begin, It also caused light to glow between them. There was a lot of fighting with Claymore's.
A Talisman is a woman who has been trained in a set of gifts. Female warriors are trained in combat and protect part of their warrior. Druids would take care of the body and help protect their warriors, etc.
I thought this was good, our warrior was Baz Cormac. He later became a rogue but also had the luck to find his talisman. He could not believe it. Delany Ferrell is her name, and she is a female warrior. I will say this is very steamy. They must bond, right, I thought it was nicely written. I do recommend this novel for the over 18 bunch
I received this ARC from Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it.
Thank you NetGalley and Warrior Romance Press for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
4/5 stars
Delaney and Baz are a steamy couple. I would say majority of the book is about their relationship and the over arching plot took a backseat. This is book 6 in the series so I jumped in a little confused due to not knowing that. I would say it did take me a little bit to understand the world and the magic rules. Once I did understand the rules the book was much more enjoyable.
Delaney is an independent character with a strong loyalty to her family. She falls in love quick but that is due to the mate bond. She is a little shallow and doesn’t try to see Baz’s side very easily.
Baz is typical alpha male that is protective of his mate. He has had a hard life of being a rogue and doing Morrigan’s bidding. Once he finds Delaney he has a hard choice of trying to decide how he wants to change. I enjoyed the internal struggle and how he didn’t take it lightly.
For the most part the plot and story was intriguing. The chemistry between Baz and Delaney was good, although I could have used a little less sexy time. It didn’t feel like Baz and Delaney really got to know each other personally.
Oh I loved everything about this book! I loved Baz and Delaney and their whole story just made me melt. This whole series is a winner.
This is a sexy Fantasy Romance.
If I am honest I felt at times the sex was very gratuitous and added nothing to the story line.
The characters were really strong and overall the story was really enjoyable and left me wanting to read more.
I've read three books in this series and it's my opinion that this one is the best. The world building has always been interesting in this series, but I liked the added interest of the rogues taking a more important role in the story. Also, the spicy scenes were better in this book and there were more of them. That was definitely an improvement.
I received this book as an ARC, but my opinions are honest.
This book sizzles in the bedroom and on the training mat when Baz, the rogue warrior, crashes into his destiny when he kidnaps Delaney, a sexy and fierce independent talisman, who loves her family, her badass truck (Hildy), a great cup of coffee...and can kick a little ass with some sass. A fun and sexy read with a good plot of redemption sprinkled between all the warrior and talisman steamy "bonding"...a little too much "bonding" for me since I really enjoyed the characters and the story.
Rogue is the 6th book in the Talisman series by Tam DeRudder Jackson. Thank you to NetGalley for supplying a copy of this book for me to review. This book is an erotic paranormal romance.
I have not read any of the other books in this series so it did take a bit for me to catch up as to what was going on.
Baz is a rogue warrior after being cursed by a goddess and Delaney is his fated mate and a talisman.
Firstly, I love the angst in a story where the characters are waiting for their mate when their friends and family all have found theirs already, which happened in this book. I thought the plot of this book was engaging. Although I didn't particularly like all of the interactions between the main characters at the beginning of the book I was glad that Delaney was a trained warrior and could hold her own somewhat.
The connection between the two main characters felt more focused on the sexual chemistry as opposed to an emotional connection for most of the story. The mating bond required them to have sex pretty soon after meeting and I felt like they spent more time having sex than actually talking about their future and solving the obvious problems they had. When they did talk, I felt like their banter was quite cheesy at times, especially at the beginning of the book. It took quite a while to discover both the hero and the heroine's motivation even though it was a dual point of view book. I would have liked to know that sooner in the story so I felt more connected to the characters. Overall, I enjoyed the story and would recommend reading this book.
