Cute novel, but unrealistic and parts of it didn't settle right with me. I'm sure that this plot is a plausible senecio, but leaving a woman because her husband died seems harsh. Other than that is was a good read.

I loved Amity of the Prairie Roses Collection! Ms. Carroll-Bradd writes of the pain and difficulty faced by those traveling across the country to a new life. Amity is a problem-solver. Thankfully, Amity had Shawe Creighton as her hero following the death of her stinker of a husband. Not only was he a gambler and thief, he was hiding important funds and items from her. I loved that Shawe was a gentleman who refused to take from Amity and was willing to give her the protection of his name. Amity is a sweet afternoon read that is light-hearted enough to enjoy and just enough difficulty to pull on your heart strings.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I love marriage of convenience books, and I've read tons of them, and this was one of the better ones I've read!

Having never read a book by Linda Carroll-Bradd, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I've always enjoyed reading about the pioneer time period, so I was intrigued by the book cover. "Amity" is a novella that is part of the "Prairie Roses Collection." This book centers on Amity Grenville, a young healer who is traveling with her husband to reach her only remaining relatives, her Aunt and Uncle, in Oregon. However, Amity's husband was a drunken gambler who has gambled away all their belongings and gotten himself killed in a bar fight. Amity has to find a way to survive and remain on the wagon train so she can make it to Oregon.

I enjoyed Amity's strong character and the way she didn't give up. Receiving help from the young, handsome, and single Shawe didn't hurt either! This was a sweet read, and I enjoyed that it was a fun novella that I could read quickly. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Quick little romance set in the time of the Oregon Trail. Amity is planning to go out west to be with her aunt and uncle, but her gambling husband not only manages to get himself killed, but also gambles off the oxen and wagon that Amity was going to use to take them across the country.

In desperation, because she can't be a single woman traveling, she gets one of the single men to marry her. So, of course, they are chaste around each other though she keeps looking at his body and he does the same to hers, the whole trip.

Not an instant romance, but a slow burn. One of the little things I liked was that she wore bloomers because she had read about them, and realized they were more practical for the trip.

When Amity’s husband does the unthinkable and gets himself killed, she needs a husband in name only. As in, now. So she can continue with the wagon train heading to Oregon territory and her loving aunt and uncle’s home.

She proposes to her new ‘neighbor’, the blacksmith Shawe Creighton. He initially turns her down, but that only lasts for a few moments. They make a deal that over the next few months they will help each other until the times comes to end the marriage.

Little do they know….

I have enjoyed most of Linda Carroll-Bradd’s romances. They can easily be read in a day. Her H and h are strong, but good people. They might not always agree, but they show respect. And they talk to each other. Amazing!

There was a bit of info-dump that I didn’t need (the list of passengers for one), but all in all, it was a gentle story. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for sending me this arc in exchange for an honest review.
