I’ve never heard of the CBS series “Murder By The Sea” but it sounded like it’d be a good read. The cases were varied and interesting; ranging from a robbery gone wrong to the bizarre. Each chapter was very in depth about the police work. It’s crazy and sad what people will kill for. It’s interesting how some of these people thought they could outsmart the police. I feel in this day and age where everything is recorded and tagged; it’d be much harder to go about committing murder without eventually getting caught.

Reading factual accounts with photos included of actual murders is a bit more daunting than reading a fictional account of an authors mystery created in his or her mind. The title suggests a common theme throughout the volume but the only commonality seems to be the physical locations of importance, the coast. Like fiction, the reasons for the murders are varied and complex. The individual cases will give you a quick study in the workings of the human mind, sane and perhaps not so sane. Explanations of police procedures were found to be interesting. My next read has to be happy and up beat!

Be prepared for a journey from where the land meets the sea, to where life meets death.
There is something sinister about a British seaside town. On the surface they’re all funfairs and breezy promenades. Yet dig a little deeper in the sand and you soon uncover an underworld of murder, madness, and mayhem…
I have not seen the Murder by the Sea TV series, but I did enjoy this book immensely.
Each case is set in dedicated chapters and contains quotes from investigations, forensics experts and sometimes victims of the perpetrator. The stories were well researched, the information wasn’t too heavy for the readers and overall, it was a compelling and enjoyable read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review.
A collection of true crime stories from around the coasts of the UK. As a true crime fan I did enjoy this and hadn't read about any of the cases before so was really interesting. I enjoyed that the book featured first hand information from people involved with each case. It also flowed really well as there are ten stories all together so it's compact and doesn't leave you bored.
This was a very entertaining true crime read based on a documentary series called CBS REALITY from Britain. It has 10 stories of murder along the sea coasts that were new to me, my favorite kind. Good researching and writing here. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Compelling, Immersive…
This companion book to the CBS Reality series contains ten cases of murder, all set in the UK. Each is comprehensively dealt with and includes additional information, perhaps not covered in the series, together with photographs and maps. It’s an excellent read, both well compiled and wholly immersive. The cases also include commentary from various sources and from various individuals concerned with each murder case, whether they be from a professional or personal viewpoint - from the police, the Judges, victims relatives, members of the public and, in some cases, from the accused themselves. Whilst the television series is compelling the book is certainly more so.
