I read the first couple chapters but it just wasn't my cup of tea. An Instagram "influencer" has her life blown up by a post she made in a drunken haze. Too vapid & narcissistic for my taste.

Great thriller that I can't wait to read more from this author. Kept me guessing until the very end which is hard to do!

Reading this reiterates why Kimberly Belle is one of my favorite authors. Social media gone completely awry and a sketchy personal assistant take center stage in this fast-paced psychological thriller. The plot is gripping right from the start. Dual time periods comprise chapters told from the perspectives of multiple characters succeed in producing abundant suspense. The twisty plot delivers more than one surprise and the ending is both unexpected and satisfying. Belle is truly a master of creating and enthralling story. Ideal for fans of Gilly Macmillan, B.A. Paris and Sandie Jones.

Alex is a successful Instagram influencer, making her mark as the "relatable mommy" that everyone would want to be friends with. However, Alex surely wouldn't have achieved her level of success without the help of her trusty assistant. AC. That all comes crashing to a halt one night when AC vanishes into thin air. Naturally, the police question Alex and her husband, Patrick. After all, Patrick had been spotted arguing with AC in the yard the week that she vanished. Does he know something about what has happened to AC?

Things only get worse when a body is found in Alex and Patrick's guest house. Who was responsible for the murder? Could AC have uncovered a family secret that Alex and Patrick are desperate to keep hidden? Alex is racing to clear her name, as it becomes more and more obvious that someone is targeting her family. Someone from her past that wants revenge, and will stop at nothing to get it.

This was an original story that had me guessing until the very end. Told in alternating viewpoints, we get a glimpse into the minds of the main characters, and the secrets that each of them holds close to their vest. The reader is also faced with the million-dollar question.....when the past returns to haunt us, what WOULDN'T we do to protect those closest to us?

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC and opportunity to read and review this book.

Loved this book. I am a huge Kimberley Belle fan and have loved her other books. It did take me a while to get through this book and really get into it but once I did I loved it and loved the ending.

I've heard great things abbot Kimerly Belle's books but had yet to read one. But I will say this one won't be my last! The Personal Assistant was a book I couldn't put down - it kept me super engaged until the end!. It is mystery on mystery and breaks the mold of traditional thrillers. An influencer is very happy with her career and family life until a scathing post about a b movie actress sees an outcry from former fans. It leads to a nightmare scenario.
Every time you think you have it figured out things switch. The ending blew my mind.

Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing- Park Row & NetGalley for allowing me to read and. review this digital arc

Not my favourite Kimberly Belle. Characters weren’t overly likeable, so I didn’t become as invested as I normally do. But an okay thriller.

Another exciting read by Kimberly Belle. I read this one in a day! Social media influencer, Alex, finds out what happens when your followers turn against you and your assistant is missing. Kimberly Belle has become one of my favorite writers. Don't miss this page-turner.

I love this new genre of influencer thrillers!! So addicting. Alex was such an interesting character. I loved and hated her. I liked that this wasn’t a single pov book, because it really set the scene better. Such a twisty story with an unexpected ending!! I highly recommend this one.

This isn’t my first book by her, but it is absolutely my favorite. I already can’t wait to read her next one!

I have read many books by Kimberly Belle that Ihave enjoyed but this one is just okay for me. As a beauty blogger for 13 years, I related to that aspect of the book. It takes more time and energy that most people realize. That said, I wasn't giving advice like the main character Alex was.
The premise of the book is very appealing: assistant goes missing, husband has scerets, strange and scary things start happening to the family. For me, the problem with the plot is that it is totally predictable. There are a few twists but they are not important to the core story and didn't make a lot of sense to me.
This was one Kimberly Belle work I was disappointed in.

A slow burn suspense about a mommy blogger, Alex, with twins and husband, Patrick. She started her blog on a whim, sharing her life with strangers, and quickly amasses a huge following. But Alex soon realizes the dangers of social media - she loses followers & receives death threats! Her assistant Anna Claire “A.C.” disappears and Alexis assumes she’s behind this mess, paranoia sets in! Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for a copy!

Totally unputdownable from the beginning to end! I LOVE how we see both sides of the characters most of them that is and honestly I was pulled in all directions! It goes half and half some making good decisions some making bad decisions and some are bad people making even worse decisions. The flaws and attempts at redemption. This was her usual recipe for a successful chilling thriller! I highly recommend it she can’t write a bad book In my eyes!

What a ride! The PErsonal Assistant is a rollercoaster that kept me on the edge of my seat and hooked to my ereader. At first I thought that it was going to be just another social media-based book written during COVID-19 but it was much more than that.

The twists are perfectly executed and timed, keeping the pacing fast without feeling rushed. The writing style is more substantial than some others in the genre so where it could feel flat or 2 dimensional, the characters, setting, and events feel polished and well-rounded.

I will definitely add Kimberly Belle to my list of authors when looking for something to read.

Why my nose was in this book:
My favorite aspect of Kimberly Belle’s stories is that the plots are not cut and dry - I always think that I know where the story will go, and then it’ll veer off into a completely unexpected direction
The story kept adding on layers of twists and surprises that kept the pages turning - I finished this one in a day
Multiple POVs, especially a particularly vague one, added complexity to an already complicated storyline
The story was a perfect opportunity to don that detective hat and play the whodunit game, or maybe more importantly - why
The ending big reveal that surprised me and pieced everything together nicely

4.5 STARS!

I love books centered around social media influencers and this one was probably one of my favorites!

Everyone knows someone on IG who just seems too perfect. Every post is set up to make you believe they are leading an amazing life. At what cost are we showcasing our lives all over social media? Unfortunately, Alex learns the hard way.

Unapologetically Alex is a blogger with twin daughters and a new husband when a post she doesn’t remember writing goes viral in the worst way. To make matters worse, Alex’s personal assistant, AC, has vanished. AC knows all of Alex’s personal thoughts and has access to her social media accounts. Alex begins to believe that AC is behind the viral post and all the harassment and angry threats that follow. Alex’s husband also begins to act strangely, and Alex doesn’t feel like she can trust him.

I really enjoyed the alternating POV and dual timelines. Just when you think things couldn’t get any worse for Alex, another bombshell drops. The story really makes you think about social media and what can happen if you share too much. I felt so much empathy for Alex’s pre-teen daughters as they try and navigate school and friendships while having their world turned upside down. I found the story very fast paced and I had a difficult time putting it down. I thought the ending was twisty and so satisfying! I have no problem recommending this gripping story to anyone!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my eARC.

"Dear Wife" was one of my favorite suspense reads of 2019, so I was thrilled to recieve a copy of "The Personal Assistant'. Kimberly Belle does not disappoint with this gripping look into the mommy-blogger world - great for fans of "People Like Her".

In the author’s notes, Belle discusses her motivation for writing this novel during the pandemic. She says she wondered if anyone would care about follower counts (on social media) if their world turned into a dumpster fire. Influencer Alex’s seemingly perfect life definitely takes a hard turn into a dumpster fire & she, along with her family, are forced to adjust their lives in a big way. This is such a great story with some interesting twists and turns. I was sad for the story to end!
