I've read Ragan before and enjoyed her. This one.....not so much. It was very formulaic and you could tell she just wanted to churn it and be done. 2 stars, unfortunately.
OMG T.R. Ragen has done it again!!! I have read all of her books and I will always read her book as soon as it comes out. I'm so thankful I was able to read this before it was released. I'm grateful she allowed me the opportunity. If this is your first time reading one of her books let me tell you that you will be hooked and will read all of her books. They keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. The characters in this book were well done and I just felt like I was part of the book. This is a MUST read for anyone looking for a great thriller.
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer | Thomas & Mercer for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC for my honest opinion.
My first read by T.R. Ragan, and based on the praise I saw people giving this book, I was excited to read. It didn’t turn out to be anything like I was expecting, which is not a bad thing. Unless your expectations of the story aren’t met, which was the case for me with this one.
As we learned in the blurb, Jane offers Nora a job that really sounds too good to be true, and when something sounds too good to be true, the red flags should start flying. The prologue did pull me in, but after that, it felt like I was just slogging through the story. Much of it was unbelievable that a woman and her supposedly intelligent husband would be taken in the way they were with Jane. I just wanted to get to the end to see if everything I was predicting throughout came true. And it was a pretty predictable storyline.
I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.
This is like something I would have written in 9th grade English class. Not good at all. Very cliche and dim.
I have only read a few books by T.R. Ragan thus far, but I have no doubt that she is quickly going to become one of my absolute favorite authors in no time!
This book is a story chalked full of secrets, lies, and just plain ole shake your head shenanigans, but it is one that you definitely don't want to miss! It is definitely a domestic psychological thriller that you'll want to keep reading well past the last page!
Nora and her family are characters that you can't help but love, but something is off with Jane from the very start, but you'll have to read the book to find out why! I couldn't help but get frustrated with Nora's family throughout because as the reader you could so obviously see what was going on!
Overall, an excellent read by T.R. Ragan which makes me want to run out and grab another by her! I was able to blow through the book super quickly! I would say it's unputdownable...if that's such a word!
I would like to offer a HUGE shoutout to T.R. Ragan, Thomas & Mercer, & Netgalley for providing me a copy of Such a Beautiful Family which allowed me to contribute this honest and unbiased review!
This book was just ok for me. Writing was good, flowed well and nice plot. It just feels like the plot has been done over and over. Quick read. I would read another one of this authors books again. I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion
If you haven't read a T.R. Ragan, book yet, what are you waiting for?
There is something to be said about female friendship. Peel back the layers and we all have secrets to hide. However, the relationship between Nora and Jane is quite literally the work of a creative genius. Ragan, being said genius.
This book was TWISTED!!! Nora had me questioning my own beliefs as to what was transpiring!!
Such A Beautiful Family, is a must read!
Teaser :
Nora Harmon has a lot to be thankful for: two great kids, a stable marriage, and now, a dream career. Software consultant Jane Bell wants Nora on her team. She’s offering a fantastic salary, flexible hours, and a chance to travel the world. It sounds too good to be true, but Jane won’t take no for an answer.
Jane acts more like a friend than a boss, and Nora’s personal and professional boundaries begin to blur. Jane is smitten with Nora’s perfect family—particularly her daughter—and far too attentive to Nora’s husband. Nora can’t help but feel insecure and unsettled.
Maybe Jane is everything she says she is: a lonely woman in need of feeling the love of a kind and decent family. Maybe Nora is just being paranoid.
Thank you @netgalley and @thomasandmercer for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed Such a Beautiful Family from T.R. Ragan! It proved to have everything I look for in a psychological thriller. Likeable characters, a twisted villain, lots of red flags!
The story had great pacing, and it kept me turning pages. I was so engrossed in the story, I love it when that happens.
Will definitely keep new publications by T.R Ragan on my radar.
This was my first time reading this author so I had no idea what to expect. It was a very pleasant surprise that I enjoyed it from the very beginning. Will definitely look for more of this author's books.
Such a Beautiful Family by T. R. Ragan was very intriguing. I read it in 24 hours because I just needed to see all the pieces come together. I'm a full-on Ragan and have read many books by this author. This one was predictable to me but did not take away from the intrigue or the allure of the plot or sequencing.
I received a review copy of this book from the author/publisher through NetGalley for my honest review. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
A nice read - nothing that’s earth-shattering or life-altering, but that’s ok sometimes, right? This mystery/suspense tale was told at a nice clip, keeping those e-pages flipping. As always, I look forward to their next release While this might not have “wowed” me, I enjoy most of this author’s work and this one was no exception. Give this a gander, you’ll be glad that you did.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
A fast paced thriller that sets the pace from the prologue and continues until the end. Plenty of twists and turns that are easily predicted. If you want a quick and easy to read thriller then give this one a go.
This was a fast paced thriller. It felt a little boring at times. The prologue really set the story up with a bang. I prefer more realistic situations in thrillers but this one was fun to try to predict.
Book Review:
Title: Such A Beautiful Family
Author: T.R. Ragan
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/3 stars
Software consultant Jane Bell has specifically chosen Nora Harmon to come work for her. Her intentions seem understandable; Nora is great at what she does until something more sinister seems to be going on. Nora has two young children and a great marriage to protect, and Jane seems to be after both.
Nora has a terrible secret from her past, when she was a teenager. Somehow, Jane is a part of that, and she wants everything that Nora has now. I tell you what, if any woman came into my life trying to take what was mine....sheewwww I wouldn't hesitate to put her in my backyard....or should I say under it? This woman frustrated me! The complete disrespect! Listen, lady, GET OVER IT. I did like the drama because it kept me engaged and wanting to know what would happen next.
Thank you to @netgalley and #thomasandmercer for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This book was a fast-paced and quick read, perfect for those who enjoy a page-turner. The story moves at a fast clip, and there is always a lot happening. While not many twists and turns, there is still plenty of action to keep the reader engaged.
The premise of the book, the consequences of a mistake made in one's youth, is intriguing and well-executed. Ragan's writing is well done, and the story kept me interested from beginning to end. The characters were well developed, and I found myself invested in their lives and their struggles.
While the book didn't have many surprises or unexpected plot twists, it still delivered a solid and compelling story. It was a good reminder of how one bad decision can have far-reaching and devastating consequences.
Overall, "Such a Beautiful Family" is a well-written and engaging novel. It's a good choice for those looking for a quick and exciting read that explores the consequences of one's actions. While not perfect, it's still a great addition to any suspense/thriller fan's bookshelf. I would give it four stars.
I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC! I love Ragan but this book wasn't my fav! it was less action packed and slow at times. I rate the book a 3.4
As a HUGE T.R. Ragan fan, I was so excited to receive an ARC of Such a Beautiful Family. It did not disappoint! If you haven’t given her a chance, start with this stand alone and then move onto her series options.
This was a fast read! I finished it in 2 days and loved it! It was not a novel concept/plot, but it was well written, characters were well developed and it was a solid thriller.
Thankful for the ARC !
Keywords: pulpy, thriller, suspenseful, mystery, cold case, female led, family theme, domestic noir, rich people drama
Sooo I can understand both the low and high ratings for this book.
The bad ones: this isn't a very genre-bending, rule-breaking thriller, it's pretty guess-able
The good ones: IT'S SO MUCH FUN THOUGH!
I will definitely be reading this author's other books (standalones as I don't like series in this genre). I really really enjoyed my time reading it, it was basically in one sitting! But I'm a sucker for rich people drama anyway!
I feel a bit embarrassed, but I'm totally giving this 5 stars. I loved it!
