This is a beautiful collection of poetry and short narratives that describe all things related to gardening, wildflowers, and plants. I especially loved the beautiful watercolor paintings of the different plants scattered throughout the book. Like with any anthology, there were some poems and narratives that I enjoyed more than others (particularly those about sunflowers and those about dandelions), but overall found this to be a very pleasant read!
Susan Barba's edited collection AMERICAN WILDFLOWERS is a treasure--a densely intelligent, visually pleasing, and deeply engaging florilegium. Readers of history, gardeners, and lovers of the intersection of the natural world and the artistic world will cherish this work.
I love this book. It’s so insightful and the illustrations are beautiful. Such a refreshing read! For anyone who loves beautiful things and flowers, this book is for you! Highly recommend!!
