Mary has the perfect way of leading readers in honesty and faith-based encouragement. It is highly relatable and easy to read through (even in the middle of busy days!)
I absolutely loved this book! As a mom who spends lots of time in the car going this place and that and back again, it was just perfect! I love how relatable the author is. I could picture myself doing/saying/feeling so many of the same things she does. And every situation she speaks about is totally realistic. I love the personalized prayers at the end of each chapter. Our kids will get so much out of this book as we pray for them, but the reminders to give ourselves grace and to pray for ourselves as we navigate parenthood will have lasting benefits. I think I will refer to this often.
Mary Carver's Prayers from the Parking Lot came into my life at exactly the right time. We sent our first kid to college and I desperately needed encouragement. Whether your children are still in pre-school or you're navigating your first launch, you'll be blessed by these reflections. I so appreciate Mary's authenticity and her gentle approach, as well as her uncanny ability to address the areas where I'm struggling as a parent. Many times I've finished reading one of her reflections (literally from my car) and looked in the back seat to see if she's there. My point is that she understands the challenges of the busy mom life because she's living it too. If you're looking for strength and a sense of peace that God is truly with you in the many challenges you face, I think you'll find tremendous value in reading Prayers from the Parking Lot.
