Six Feet Deep Dish by Mindy Quigley is the debut of the Deep Dish Mysteries. I found Delilah a hard character to like. She has a terrible temper (good thing her sous chef and best friend is on hand to run interference) and expects perfection. I could not imagine working for Delilah who wants things done a certain way and checks (and checks and checks again) to make sure everything is the way she wants it. Butterball, Sam and Delilah’s cat, stole the show. He is a chubby, mischievous fellow. I am not a fan of Sam. He needs to find someone who is as laidback as he is. For those who are body conscious, you will find triggers in this book. Delilah has a more robust figure, and she compares herself to thinner people. There are many references to people’s weight and what they eat. I would have preferred Delilah embrace her figure (body positivity). I like Aunt Biz with her spunky attitude. There is a diverse supporting cast of characters that need fleshing out. The mystery had some interesting components, but it is not challenging (can be solved before the police arrive on the scene). This is Delilah’s first time sleuthing so it is expected that she will not be a pro right out of the gate. Delilah stumbled upon the clues. She was told repeatedly to stay out of the investigation by the handsome detective. The mystery is nicely wrapped up at the end. It seemed that Delilah was ready for another romance the day after Sam took off (I am being generous by saying the next day). The scene with Delilah daydreaming about Detective Capone’s lips was not needed. I could understand Delilah thinking that Capone was handsome, but I felt it was too soon for anything more (let’s not rush it). I did find Six Feet Deep Dish to be a slow starter as we are introduced to all the characters (did we need to meet everyone in the first chapter). The pacing improves later in the book. I found my mouth watering from the description of Delilah’s pizza sauce. It had me hankering for a pizza (recipes at the end of the book). I enjoyed the descriptions of Wisconsin (sounds like a beautiful place to live and vacation). Six Feet Deep Dish is a culinary cozy with delectable deep dish pizza, a chubby cat, a fleeing fiancé, a killed caregiver, an ensnared aunt, a delightful detective, and a determined Delilah.

I enjoy cozy mysteries and pizza, so this book seemed like a great option!

This is the first installment in a new series, and I look forward to reading upcoming books. I really liked the characters, particularly Delilah and Aunt Biz. I look forward to seeing more of them. Sonya was a nice complement to Delilah's Type A personality. The mystery was solid and kept me guessing throughout. I really liked the recipes at the end, as they all sounded amazing!

Mindy Quigley approaches the first book in her new series with a twist. The protagonist, Delilah O'Leary, does not stumble into romance through a crime, instead she is engaged to be married to a multi millionaire who is financing her new restaurant. Right before the restaurant is to have it's soft opening, the couple fights and break up leaving Delilah to forge ahead with just her coworkers to get her through the night. A death occurs as the night winds down and Delilah's aunt is left holding the smoking gun. I enjoyed the setting on the shores of Geneva Bay, Wisconsin and the legacy of crime boss's that inhabited the sleepy little town. Quigley introduced the supporting cast (which naturally includes a feline companion) in a natural flow and established the relationships that will grow throughout this series. The next volume is due in 2023 and I look forward to reading it.

Excellent! This was a wonderful first book. The plot, though done many times before, was written well and solved deftly. I did not guess the murderer and was actually quite surprised by the ending. I loved the main character and thought she was quite relatable. I am looking forward to seeing more of her in the future. She’s so natural and normal!!! I quite recommend this book and am so pleased to have to read this. Amazing read.

Yessss I am SO excited for this series!!!

I really enjoyed Mindy Quigley's writing style. She did a great job bringing her characters to life and working through this who dun it mystery. I thought there were several well placed twists that me kept guessing and second guessing who the killer was.

If I had to get picky, I didn't love the Capone/mobster storyline, but it wasn't off putting and it won't keep me from reaching for book #2 in this series.

Very well done and I can't wait to see what Delilah encounters next!

SIX FEET DEEP DISH by Mindy Quigley is the start of a new cozy mystery series. It's set in Geneva Bay, Wisconsin – a small resort town with past connections to organized crime and bootleggers. Deliah O'Leary is an aspiring entrepreneur with exciting plans for a new deep dish pizza restaurant. The night of the soft opening for family and friends ends in a murder – with her elderly aunt holding the gun! There are plenty of twists and a list of suspects, plus a helpful set of assistants (bartender, hostess, sous-chef, and wait staff) to aide this amateur detective in her quest to solve the mystery. Oh, and don't forget the local law enforcement – including Officer Capone. There's opportunity for more romance between him and Deliah in the next installment. Several fun deep dish recipes and plenty of suspense round out the menu!!

Overall I found Six Feet Deep Dish, the first in a new cozy mystery series by Mindy Quigley, to be enjoyable but very predictable. The characters were a bit two dimensional for me and the ending was very predictable. It was still a solid quick read, but the storyline wasn’t anything special.

I enjoyed this first book in a new series. The characters were all distinctly unique with their own voices and characteristics. Delilah narrating the story in first person made it more personal for me. The mysteries were complicated, and I was stumped, which is a good thing. I don't like it when the solution is so obvious to me as I read. I found the descriptions of the food served at the restaurant appetizing. Even though I don't cook, I was pleased to see recipes at the end of the book.
I received an Advance Review Copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.

The first in a new series starts off with a bang: literally. The opening of Delilah’s gourmet deep dish pizza restaurant hits a snag when someone is murdered and Delilah’s aunt is found holding the murder weapon.

The characters are interesting, I love a sassy elderly character and all the talk of food made me hungry! I also loved the character of Rabbit; a second chance storyline always gets me. I’m excited to read more from this series!

I really loved this cozy. Delilah was planning her soft opening of her restaurant. There was a big crowd there for the soft opening. prior to Sam, her fiance' left her and Her Aunt Biz's caretaker, Jeremy was the murder victim . Aunt Biz was holding a gun that was hers and Delilah took it from her. You can guess the amateur sleuth is Delilah but I didn't figure out who done it until almost the end. A VERY GOOD COZY and a series that I have put on my list as one to read. Looking forward to the next one.

A new series to watch. Mindy Quigley reminds me of a few of my favorite foodie cozy authors.
Delilah O'Leary wants her new pizza restaurant to be a success. The building and its reputation play a major role in the story. Having it set in a town I am familiar with also helped me enjoy the story.
Delilah has a nice enough boyfriend but we can tell from the start they are not a perfect match.
The soft opening for the business spells disaster but I enjoyed how the staff came together.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy to enjoy. I look forward to more by this author and in this series.

Delilah along with her friend Sonya have moved to Geneva Bay, Wisconsin to open her deep dish pizzeria. On the night of the grand opening party her fiancé dumps her and leaves Delilah all worried about the finances of the new restaurant. After a few drinks, Delilah follows a do-nothing employee of hers outside only to have come across a dead body and her aunt Biz holding the gun. Delilah knows there is no possible way her elderly aunt is the killer. With the opening of the pizzeria been put on hold due to the murder investigation, Delilah along with her coworkers decide to set out and find the killer on their own.

Six Feet Deep Dish is the first and a new cozy series by Mindy Quigley. I think this would be perfect for fans of Ellie Alexander’s bake shop mystery series. Haven’t read it? That’s OK! If you enjoy cozies with a restaurant setting and a tight-knit group with coworkers that treat each other like family, then give this a try.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an eARC of this book. As always all opinions are my own!

As if opening a new restaurant wasn't challenging enough for Delilah try throwing in a murder too. Delilah is a perfectionist. Her perfectionism combined with the stress of opening a restaurant led to an argument with her fiancé/business partner on the day of their soft opening and he left her. Somehow, Delilah pulls it all together and it is going well until someone gets murdered.

This story is a good blend of mystery, humor and a hint of romance. This is book #1 in the Deep Dish Mysteries series. I hope we get to get to see a lot more of all the great cast of unique secondary characters in future books. Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

This is such a fun read I read it cover to cover in one setting. The setting of a pizzaria is fun, the charcters are richly drawn and delightful , the protagnist smart, savvy and likable. I love the fast pace of the writing and the repartee between charcters. I adored this book from beginning to end. Welcome author Minday Quigley . Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinion is my own.

The cast of characters make this such a fun unique cozy series. The author introduces us to a small town in Wisconsin where we meet our protagnist Delilah O' Leary who is opening a new gourmet pizzeria with her fiance who takes off before opening and leaves her to deal with the restaurant. He even leaves his delightful cat Butterball behind for Delilah to care for. Now Delilah must deal with the opening , her employees, and her broken heart. Butterball is a fun addition as a contentious cat with a big personality.
Her aunt, Elizabeth O'Grady and her caretaker, Jeremy come but both are acting strange. Delilah finds Jeremy dead outside and her Aunt unconscious holding a gun ! Now the police are questioning her as if her Aunt is the prime suspect. Clues abound after the murder and Delilah is determined to save her Aunt and find out what happened. After she finds her Aunt days later unconscious she finds out that she was being drugged by Jeremy who had switched out her medication. Delilah works with the local detective who are both at odds with each other as he does not want Delilah interfering. In the meantime she and her errant fiance Sam part permanently and she opens her popular restaurant with the help of her employees. The pizzaria is a is a hit with the locals and Delilah is determined to make it a success as she works behind the scenes to solve the murder.
The sleuth was intriquing and kept me engaged until conclusion. I love the various charcters and Butterball who adds to the story by connecting Delilah with a new possible love interest for the next books. The restaurant employees are fun and all devoted to Delilah. This is a wonderful new cozy series that I highly recommend.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher but the opinions are souls my own.
Starting out, I was not at all a fan of Delilah. She is bossy, demanding, self-centered and never wrong. Delilah has moved back home to Geneva Bay Wisconsin from Chicago where she has been a chef at many restaurants and is now in the process of opening her own pizza restaurant with the backing of her fiance Sam. Opening night has a murder of Jeremy, the health care worker of Biz, Delilah's aunt. Officer Capone comes to investigate the murder that looks like Aunt Biz is the killer. So many suspects come out of the woodwork and Delilah can't keep her nose out of any of it.
Lots of good characters and stories in this book, not to mention some yummy deep dish pizzas. By the end of the book, I have decided that I like Delilah a bit more than the beginning.

Thank you NetGalley, Mindy Quigley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC of Six Feet Deep Dish. This is my personal review.
This is the first book in a new cozy series Deep Dish Mysteries.
The book has a great combination for a new series.
The location – Geneva Bay, Wisconsin – the setting a deep-dish pizzeria and I can’t leave out Butterball a cat who belongs to Delilah O’Leary the owner of the pizzeria. And then add in all the other characters and this is going to be a fabulous series to read.
And toss in a murder that Delilah needs to solve, and the story kept me reading until the very end.
This is a great first book and I am excited to read the next in this series.

Delilah O’Leary (Dee) moved to Genova Bay, Wisconsin from Chicago to open her pizza shop. Her boyfriend Sam had become wealthy before she meant him but they didn’t really have a lot in common. Dee gives him one job to do for the grand opening and he messes it up so they have a huge blowup and he leaves. In the meantime Dee and her right hand cook Sonja are getting the restaurant ready for a soft opening. Dee discovers a dead body with Auntie Biz holding the gun. So Dee sets out to prove her Aunt had nothing to do with the murder. Dee really needs Sam’s financial help but she can’t find him he has totally disappeared. She is determined to keep this restaurant going. I loved this who dun it and I can’t wait for the next book in this series. The recipes at the end of the book are a bonus and I can’t wait to try them.

I received this ARC from Netgalley for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is the first in a new series by Mindy Quigley. I am a huge cozy mystery fan and this book is engaging from right from the start. I can’t remember when I have enjoyed a book so much.

Delilah O’Leary is looking forward to opening a gourmet deep-dish pizzeria in Geneva Bay, Wisconsin, a place she spent some of her childhood summers with her Aunt Elizabeth (Biz). Unfortunately, before the opening of the pizzeria, she gets into a fight with her fiancé and business partner, Sam Van Meter, and he takes off after breaking up with her. If that is not bad enough, her aunt’s caregiver Jeremy is found murdered on the dock of her restaurant, which shuts the place down while police investigate.

Delilah and Aunt Biz are suspects because they were found at the scene and the gun belongs to Aunt Biz. Delilah and her friends Sonya, chef in her restaurant, and Daniel, bartender, along with restaurant hostess Melody, start snooping. The detective on the case is the great grandson of Al Capone, which adds a bit of fun to the story.

Jeremy has led a sordid life and there are plenty of suspects. There is gambling, blackmail, and prescription drug abuse. I thought Ms. Quigly did an excellent job of wrapping up the story and the reasons for the suspects being guilty were believable. When the killer was revealed at the end, you can’t help but feel for them and agree with Delilah’s decision to testify on their behalf.

I admit Delilah was a little tough to like at the beginning with her controlling nature and the way she treated Sam, but she softened up as the story went on. The characters were enjoyable and I liked that Delilah was a little older and just a little overweight, which makes her relatable. Even though she just broke up with Sam, she still feels something when meeting Detective Capone. I liked reading about Geneva Bay and the history of criminal activity in the past. It will be interesting to see how these characters develop in the next book. Butterball, her cat, is a hoot with his weight issues and defending his turf against a Maine Coon cat.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
