This is my first book by this author and I am glad I picked this up as I enjoyed the writing very much. Annie is a lady of the ton, and is expected to find a match with the right sort of gentlemen. The gentlemen that does catch her eye is anything but that. Simon is the owner of a gentleman's club, a scandalous one at that. But when he kissed her, that is not something she can easily forget. But of course, being in the situation he is in, Simon does not believe himself worthy of her. They finally reveal their feelings to each other at house party, but at that same party, Simon is framed for theft and he goes on the run. Annie does not give up and sets out to find him. She is quite stubborn, refusing to return home without him.
The story brings an exciting adventure as Simon is on the run for a crime he did not commit. Danger and suspense also play into the entertainment of the story. I found this to be a charming story filled with intrigue and mystery and wonderfully delightful characters. It captured my attention right from the start. The characters were nicely developed and there was no question as to how strong their chemistry was. I enjoyed the build-up of the romance between Simon and Annie and also really enjoyed their banter. A very well-written and captivating story!

I nearly gave up on this in the first couple of chapter's. They just made no sense to me and i hated that they were written like bullet point's. The first reason may be because I haven't read the earlier books so not able to be read as a stand alone and the second stopped being used as I went further in the book. Also there was no attempt to use the correct wording for the time (if knickers were mentioned one more time I was going to kill someone as they were not called this in for some time.)The thing that kept me going in this was the mystery of who stole from the bank and framed Simon's father this redeemed the book and kept me reading would have given it a 4 star if not for the above problems. I received a special copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
