I have loved Deux Moi since its inception during Covid lockdowns, but I admittedly did not have high hopes for this book. I thought it would be a celeb gossip story fueled romp, but it was SO much more. I fell in love with Cricket and thought her journey/struggle with her job was so relatable. The character development was amazing and the tidbits of (maybe true? maybe not?) celeb stories were just perfectly balanced. I recommend this book to everyone!

Deuxmoi is a Gossip Girl lover's dream! There's not much you can expect from a novel of this kind as Deuxmoi says it's inspired by real events but a lot of it is made up. It's fascinating to try and figure out which bits are real and which aren't. Too much of the plot really hung on the friends not being super supportive, and a bit egocentric in their interpretation of events. I also found the few sex scenes supremely awkward. Overall, this is a fun beach read for when you're reading a few pages here and there between sunbathing. Anon pls.

A fun book for anyone who enjoyed the tv show Gossip Girl (the OG one). It has a slow start, but it eventually picks up.

I read this in advance of an interview we have with the author, and while it is definitely a beach read, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed reading it. It did not feel like a first effort by this author. I found myself trying to investigate who the author was speaking of in the book (many celebrity stories) which added another element of fun.

I enjoyed this book and as an avid fan of Deux Moi it was interesting to see what it is kind of like behind the scenes. This book is marketed as Devils Wears Prada with a twist and I think that that is definitely accurate. I also really enjoyed the side characters in this book and felt like their concerns regarding being caught up with Deux Moi would do to their lives were extremely valid. I do believe that sometimes Cricket was a tad bit selfish and her friends were right to be upset with her, but overall I did like her character. I felt like Cricket and Oliver's romance was a little forced at times and the spicy scenes a little awkward which I think derives from a lack of development of Oliver's character. I think that Sasha as the villain worked beautifully and if there is to be a sequel I would love to see more of her downfall. Overall I did enjoy the book an would consider it a fun read! I'm having trouble writing this review! On the one hand, this book was not very well written. The writing was tropey, unconvincing, and just pretty cringe at times. But I couldn't put it down! I had to know what was going to happen to Cricket and her long-suffering friends. I guess you don't go to a book like this for its literary merit. At the end of the day it was just good fun.

This book is sort of like self-fan fiction, but I really enjoyed it! It's frothy and zippy and if you like celebrity gossip, even about fake celebrities who bear striking resemblance to real ones, you'll drink it up. I would absolutely read a series of books about celebrity scandals and the anonymous gossiper covering them all.

Really enjoyed reading this! I'm a follower of DeuxMoi's Instagram account and a listener of her podcast, so was thrilled to have the opportunity to read Anon Pls! This was so fun, such a page turner, and the perfect read for a vacation or for anyone in a reading rut or needing an escape from reality.

I loved this book! Been a fan of DM for a while now so when I saw that she got a book deal + it was being made into a TV show, I was immediately intrigued! Fun story that I would recommend to all pop culture fans.

Subj: I hate to say this, but I think deuxmoi should stick to social media.

Hey babe, this was okay once I got into the swing of it, but the writing style is cringy (the first chapter opens up into a Wattpad-esque scene where the MC Cricket Lopez describes herself in a mirror) and the MC is just kinda the worst (a nothing character who is always right and treats her friends like tissues even after she's called out on it).

I've been following deuxmoi for a while. Not since the beginning (I'm not that cool), but around the time she had 200k followers and was starting to really blow up. I love the Sunday Spotteds. I love the mundane celebrity sightings and the behind the scenes look at how those on high really treat those beneath them. It's a more realistic version of "Stars! They're just like us!" except...deuxmoi is always very clear to note that they are not really just like us. They have teams of people protecting their images. They have staff and mansions and bigger budgets and perks, and relatability is created instead of authentic. However, she's always kept it real in noting that they are still people, just like the rest of us.

Anywho, this book is a fictionalized memoir. I thought it would be more fictionalized, but the account Cricket (gotta say that name a couple hundred more times) pulls up out of the ether is literally called deuxmoi. There is nothing deuxmoi-esque about this social media account...it literally is deuxmoi, a behind the scenes running of the viral social media account that rejuvenated interest in celebrity sightings...with like, a handful of names changes for legal purposes.

As has been the case, the mystery here is Who IS deuxmoi? (although, as time went on, I think people stopped caring and just started to enjoy the ride—at least I did), but really, I think the book's strengths was the hot celebrity goss (sorry not sorry) and trying to figure out all of the Easter Eggs, and not Cricket Lopez slogging around for eight years as an assistant to an abusive boss (and the even more cringy romance subplot).

That being said, it wasn't bad. It was enjoyable. I came for the goss, and I stayed for the goss.

Some may consider this a non-smutty book review, but I don’t. I follow @deuxmoi, my fave celeb gossip site, religiously and have been getting off on the Olivia Wilde, Harry Styles, Don’t Worry Darling drama for months now. If being horny for celeb dish is a crime, then handcuff me and call me a naughty naughty girl. Guilty as charged.

Deux Moi is an anonymously run IG site that shares insider info about celebs- anywhere from “I saw Chris Evans eating dinner at Carbonne” to “Armie Hammer is a cannibal”. Anon Pls is a fictionalized origins story of Deux Moi’s wildly successful page and it reads like a juicy Devil Wears Prada but with as many veiled celeb references as fashion name drops. I ate this book up with a fork and a spoon bc as much as I love smut, I also love celeb and fashion culture. Tell me about pop stars doing coke and what purses they are carrying and shoes they are wearing. These are important details that @deuxmoi provides! Real talk- ya girl smutty is a book whore and a label whore. While I wasn’t expecting much smut- I was pleasantly surprised to be gifted w a little phone and kitchen floor sex! All my dreams came true!! Def recommend this one for a deliciously fun literary romp. A must read if you love celebs, social media, and hot goss!!

I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book! I wasn’t sure if it would be gimmicky or just a case of someone getting a book deal because of their social media following but this is genuinely a good book completely independent of being connected to DeuxMoi. That said, DeuxMoi fans will probably enjoy it the most. This is The Devil Wears Prada for stylists and celebrity gossip, and also extra spicy.

Anon Pls. is perfect for fans of DeuxMoi. It's a fascinating concept that will remind readers of the author her(or him)self. Is it semi-autobiographical? We'll be left wondering and it doesn't matter because the book is entertaining from start to finish. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys a juicy, fun novel.

It's a click lit throwback. Just replace blog with Instagram gossip site and it's the same. The character has the bad boss and literally a career that focuses on superficial facades... It's a simple tale of finding herself and striking out with this job. It condenses stuff that the real DeuxMoi took months to figure out, like the legal warnings. It wasn't memorable but a fun if forgettable book.

So, when I was in college, I was a commuter and used to spend the breaks between classes holed up in the library, reading different popular YA and "chick lit" novels of the time. Anon Pls. reminds me of those books and that is meant as the highest of compliments. I've followed DeuxMoi for a while now and had such a blast reading this book. I loved trying to figure out who was who, where was where, etc. Cricket is a great narrator and you're rooting for her to do the right thing, even if that changes throughout the story. Fans of the IG account will eat this up but anyone with a love of celeb gossip will enjoy this book.

This dishy, fun story will have readers sussing out what details might be pulled from DeuxMoi's real life and what is strictly fiction. While the celebrities in this one are fake (or are names just changed to protect the not-so-innocent?), it still feels gossipy and is full of references to pop culture, NYC locales, and fashion. It's not a take down of the gossip or papparazi culture, but instead a story from someone who is a major player in that world.

Alright so I LOVE celeb gossip. I used to peruse @perezhilton daily. I also love reality TV and all things @bravotv. When stories from @deuxmoi were first sent to me on Instagram, I wasn’t sure about it. Now I never misss a Sunday Spotted and I have group chats galore about the blind items. This book did not disappoint.

The story, whether based on real events or not, was witty and entertaining. Every time Cricket name dropped a brand or a celeb I found myself googling whether they were real or not and it made me realize I have no idea what kind of shit goes on in NYC. I felt Cricket’s anxiety and I felt her pride. I KNOW all of my #deuxmoi loving friends are also gonna enjoy this book.

Come on, let's be real. If you read DeuxMoi, or are familiar with it, then you're probably going to really enjoy this one (like I did). However, if you have no clue what DeuxMoi is, then you're probably going to be left wondering what the heck is happening half the time.
