For Her Consideration was an amazing book that tackles fame, insecurity, and self-love. I personally loved that the book was from a single character's point of view. It really helped me get into the mind of the main character. At times, my heart literally hurt for her every time she remembered what her ex did to her. Overall, I loved almost every aspect of the book. I loved the love interest, the main character's family, and her work arc, and I just enjoyed the actual story being told. The only thing I wish I would have seen was the utilization of the ex-girlfriend as a plot device at the end. Without going too much into detail, she had a lot to do with the insecurities of the main character and she makes an appearance at the end of the book. However, I think that she could have been used a little more as I felt that she seemed out of place. This was surprising since I was super excited to see her re-emerge. Regardless of that, I am super excited to recommend this title to my friends when it is officially released.

I really enjoyed Nina, her Aunt and her group of friends.
Ari is a fun character and exactly what Nina needs after a bad break up with an awful person.
I enjoyed Lorna and her friends in the retirement village, and Karl the Lyft driver.
There were lots of sweet and numerous moments.
I wish Taylor had a real comeuppance though.

This was an okay read but unfortunately it failed to be anything more for me.
There were a lot of repetitive comments regarding Nina's weight and alleged "toxicity" which was something I found to be an inconsistent trait to describe her.
Another thing I wasn't able to fully grasp during the entire book was why would you ghost all your friends because of a breakup and moreover, why would they simply let you disappear without trying to talk, trying to figure out how to help, without knowing whether you're dead or alive for three years? It just doesn't make any sense while trying to push the "chosen family" trait. In my book, families stick with each other through thick and thin.
I honestly liked the secondary characters more than the two MC's whose descriptions were inconsistent as they later turned out to be different judging by their actions.

I am so happy that I was able to read and review this novel before it's release date! It's lovely and refreshing to read a novel where the characters and just unapologetically queer. With two women who are passionate about their own growth, both personal and career, this novel will have you rooting for them together as a couple and individually. I read this in one sitting because I was so determined to find out if love really does prevail all, even simple misunderstandings that can spiral out of control.
Thank you to Amy Spalding and Kensington Books for allowing me the opportunity to read!

I found it incredibly uninteresting for the most part however it was a quick and somewhat refreshing read as it was a Sapphic LGBTQ+ romance book. The love story was cute and I'm sure readers who are more into romance stories would love this way more than I did.

Thank you to Kensington Books and NetGalley for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cute quick read, the romance was good and i loved the found family theme and all the secondary characters were so interesting and amazing (well except taylor ifkyk) but i found Nina to be a bit annyoing at times, and the whole i-don't-deserve-anyone-bc-i'm-toxic-per-my-ex's-saying was a bit exhausting and repetitive.
That said, i really liked Ari and i would have loved to get her POV an get more insight into her life and feelings.
Overall, this was a fun read and i recommend it to anyone who likes a cute found family celebrity romance.

This was a very cute sapphic rom-com. I loved Nina as a main character; her insecurities and anxiety about them felt so real. It was refreshing that her plus size body was not one of her insecurities, and that it did not keep her from being intimate with women. Her relationships with her aunt and friends were so heartwarming. I love a found family.
I liked Ari and how she really wanted to experience new things. I didn’t find her ever as controlling as she was made out to be though.
I don’t really enjoy a miscommunication trope, and I felt like the climax/main issue was really one sided. But the rest made up for that.

This was. Sweet LGBTQ+ romance. I found the main character grating at times but the love story and the friendship were definitely worth the read

the best part of the book was the found family, i loved ari but i couldn't really connect with her, and i while i could sometimes connect with nina, most of the times i didn't like her. i really liked the scenes they were together though, they were so cute and the smut was good, which is something we don't see often on sapphic books.
there was a lot of long inner monologue and it got tiring after a while, and I'm not very fond of the-ex-did-a-number-on-the-protagonist-and-now-they-are-all-fucked-up but overall it was a good book!

I did not expect to cry this much from a romcom. Goddammit, this book hit home for me in so many ways. It's truly amazing, the romance was great, the characters all have my heart for life, I don't think I'll ever stop thinking about this book. Overall I absolutely loved this, please do yourself a favor and read it.

This was a cute and quick read. Loved the found family theme and having that one family member you share such a unique bond with that it transcends everything. Ari and Nina were cute together and I enjoyed their journey.
One little pet peeve was the focus on Nina's weight at times. She says she's ok with it but she did point out often how she was carrying some extra weight and did not get why anybody would wanna be with her despite her having had "hot" girlfriends before.
I received an ARC in return of an honest review.

This book is so swoony! I love a fat heroine, and I love when the conflict between a couple so naturally arises from their personalities and circumstances. Amy Spalding has long been a favorite YA author, and I love following her into adult romance.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Publishers for the chance to review an ARC of For Her Consideration. There might be some mild spoilers below.
I actually really enjoyed this book! The romance was sweet, and honest, and had a really great "getting together" moment that made my heart leap. There was enough context to make the romance believable enough (if a bit unrealistic) despite the "famous person and regular person" trope. We had a really solid characterization of the main character Nina to a level I don't always find we get in rom-coms - she was flawed but not static, and there was growth and setbacks through the story that were believable to me.
I thought that characters generally through the novel were well done - although we don't go deep on every character, nobody seemed one-dimensional. Characters like Lorna, Joyce, Max, and the friend group all had little descriptions and touches that made them feel interesting and real.
What I really liked is that the conflict wasn't JUST some over-dramatized misunderstanding - it was clearly an internal conflict for the protagonist who was dealing with a bunch of internalized shit that had been well set up and explained. Although people could have just communicated better and solved some problems, it didn't have me yelling at the book saying "JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER" like I do in, oh, maybe 90% of rom-com novels. I actually understood WHY they weren't talking to each other. (I was however screaming "GUUURL THERAPY TIME" but thankfully the book went there later!) That's good stuff right there.
Can I also be happy that we have queer main characters without a sexuality-discovery plotline? Like people can be queer grownups who already are comfortable with their sexuality, and bodies? There's definitely a place for the "omg maybe I'm a gay" plot lines but please not in every single book. Body positivity and gender inclusion were also well represented in this book. Very nice.
There were some parts that dragged a bit, about 10-15% could get edited out without losing the main story. And the ending (while sweet) has some serious Deus Ex Machina elements. Definitely a super solid read!

I really enjoyed this book. It was an adorable and fast paced romance. I fell in love with the main character from the get go and loved the positive plus size representation. I don’t see it much in sapphic romances and I need more of it! This was a fun and addictive book. I found it was definitely hard to put down at times.

This was sweet and fun, which I'm always a fan of! I've read a lot of contemporary romance in my time, so I'm used to a lot of the books available all being sort of the same. While this doesn't reinvent the wheel, it does feel like a breath of fresh air -- the characters are all engaging, the side characters are fleshed out enough that they feel real, and the problems in the novel make sense. Overall really enjoyable.

This was such a sweet, fun read. I really enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters especially- it just felt easy and flowed very well. And like with most contemporary romances, you need good side characters and this book had so many amazing ones to choose from.
Definitely a read I’ll be recommending!

For Her Consideration is my first Amy Spalding novel, and I found it to be the breath of fresh air I needed right now. There was potential for a whole lot of angst, and don’t get me wrong, it made an appearance, and had me feeling for the characters, but overall, For Her Consideration left me smiling.
All I wanted from the beginning was for Nina Rice and Ari to be happy together. From the moment these two women met, the chemistry sizzled. Nina is cute, sweet and confident but hides a handful of emotional baggage and isolates herself from friends. Ari is the sexy up-and-coming butch actress who refuses to be anything other than herself.
Add a bunch of dinner dates, a group of unyielding best friends and of course an ultra-cool great Aunt with attitude and Spalding has created a page-turner. The happily ever after is bound to happen, but not without a touch of heartbreak, some super-hot love scenes and a whole lot of cleverly written banter between characters.
Amy Spalding has taken a detour from her YA trajectory and hit the jackpot with this new release. I will admit I may be slightly biased – I love a good celebrity romance and throw in a gorgeous butch with all the right moves and you’ve got my attention. Ari is perfection, but so is Nina Rice, and together they blend to make a story that is a lot of fun to read.

There was a lot to love about this book. For starters, friendship was the heart of this book and that’s where it really shines. I loved the side characters and the interactions within the friend group. The romantic build up was perfect and ngl I swooned a little at points. I wish I had gotten more about the love interest as a character though. In a book filled with big personalities it was disappointing to find the love interest the most uninteresting character. Overall, I really rooted for the main character and I rooted for her friends and the difficult conversations all of them had throughout the book. If you’re a fan of found family and brunch, definitely check this one out.
The main character as a taylor swift song?
exile (feat. bon iver)
This might be a little too on the nose but it still works.

Thank you to Amy Spalding, Kensington Books and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. For Her Consideration comes out February 21, 2023.
For Her Consideration is a heartwarming, romantic, and slightly steamy WLW story set in Hollywood. It follows Nina, who after a brutal breakup three years ago has been just keeping her head above water. She writes e-mails for the stars and if its not exactly what she wanted to do at least she isn't back home in Missouri. One of the stars she writes emails for is Ari, a queer actress who has slight control issues. While getting to know on another they develop a friendship that soon turns into romance. I absolutely loved these two, and I especially loved them together. I do have to say that I did feel more connected to Nina because we are in her POV, but I still thought Ari was such a relatable character. I especially liked how the two grew together, it made me long for a relationship like they had. Even though I loved the romance I think that biggest part of this book is the heartwarming found family that is in this book, I loved Nina's group of friends and just how apparent it was that they loved one another and supported one another. Don't even get me started on Lorna, Nina's aunt, she and her group of friends were funny, warm and I loved them. Overall I thought this was an amazing LGBTQ book, and it will become one of my new comfort books.
