I’m an actress myself so I love stories that set in Hollywood! So it was really entertaining to experience it in this book.
I loved Nina and Ari. They were so cute and I had so much fun reading their relationship. But personally (I think it’s because we only read Nina’s POV) I didn’t really connect with Ari like I did with Nina.
Other than that I LOVED THE QUEER FOUND FAMILY IN THIS BOOK! THEY WERE ALL SO FUNNY. This book make me want to have friends like that. Every one of them were great characters. And Lorna! I loved her so much!
But I think I didn’t like the pacing that much sometimes it was inconsistent that it took so long for me to finish the book.
Overall For Her Consideration’s a very cute comfort read that would bring a smile to your face!

Hear me out: I had a hard time putting this one down. Amy Spalding has written the WLW Hollywood romance we've absolutely all been waiting for! In this book, Nina Rice is still alive but barely breathing after her breakup with her long-term girlfriend, Taylor. And Taylor's parting gift? A nice email with a list of 12 things she thinks are terrible about Nina that led to the downfall of their relationship and are toxic to all their shared friends too. Nice, right? So it's really no surprise that Nina's self-esteem is absolutely shot to pieces and she lives a reclusive life answering schedule emails for celebrities in the North Hollywood suburbs instead of pitching any of her TV writing ideas. That is until Ari Fox becomes one of the said celebrities whose inbox Nina is responsible for. Suddenly she's thrust into a friendship (it could never be something more, or could it?) with one of the hottest openly lesbian TV actors out there. And the best part? The third act break up catastrophe, although it could have been avoided, fit with what we already knew about both of the characters and their flaws up to that point.
Here's some bonus things to love about the story:
- A slew of queer characters that take center stage. Lesbian, nonbinary, etc. etc.
- FOUND FAMILY
- Plus size main character
- Octogenarians discovering Instagram

It will be out in February of 2023 and you won't want to miss it!

FOR HER CONSIDERATION By Amy Spalding

Publishing Date: 21st February 2023

Nina works for a talent agency, where she manages celebrity email accounts. After a bad break up Nina has spent 3 years in a no dating zone and lunches with her Aunt only zone. A surprise meeting called by Ari Fox, a young actress (whose account Nina handles) stirs up feelings Nina thought she was rid of.

😊What i liked -

✔ Celebrity Romance/Rom-Com
✔ I Loved Nina's character. She was quite relatable.
✔ Loved the email conversations between Ari and Nina. So cute.
✔ My absolute favourite character was Phoebe. Force of nature is the best way to describe her.
✔ I loved the kind of support Nina had around her.
✔ This is a quick easy read. It has it all: Love, friendship, Laughter and drama.
✔ I think Karl and Steve were a great touch.

🤔What could have been better -

✔ I did feel in a few places the story did kind of drag a little.

For Her Consideration was a book that, to me, felt like trying very hard to be The L Word but fell flat in almost every way. The characters felt very one dimensional - the main character, in particular, was quite boring and became increasingly annoying as the book went on - and the romance felt very slow and not too convincing. I feel really sad for really not getting into this book because the blurb sounded very promising and I was really hoping for a 5-star lesbian romance. While this definitely didn't work for me, if you do enjoy contemporary romance, give it a go, the book does have potential!

Rating:3/5

This was a very light and breazy read for however I felt like it dragged out a bit in some places. All the characters were so fun to read and I absolutely loved how supportive everyone was. I loved Ari so much, she was so charming and strong, I often found myself connecting with her.

what I loved:
• the body positivity
• the representation- genders, race and mental illness(the issue was sensitively well)
• Ari (my favorite)

my complains- I really wanted Ari pov it would have added so much to the story. Also, the book could have been 50 pages shorter and would have not affected the plot anyhow.

This was a super cute book about adults falling in love. I loved the main character, the love interest, and all their friends. I do wish that the Taylor scene at the end wasn't so chill, because sending your partner a list of all the reasons why you dislike them and why everyone else will dislike them is a really shitty thing that shouldn't have been moved past so quickly.

Truly one of the best romances I have read this year. Everyone should pre-order this delightful, funny, sweet, swoony romantic love letter to LA.

Thank god for a sapphic romance with the all the fizz and heat of straight romances and the authentic feel of a friend group you would want to be a part of.

I love a good queer romance and I love a good Hollywood story, and this one was a fun combination of the two. I liked that reading about Nina’s friends felt like the diverse group of queers I hang out with and Ari seems like someone I would fan girl on.

While I liked the characters, I wished for higher stakes in Nina’s life. Every time something bad may have happened it felt to me like it got tied up too quickly and neatly, with little consequences. The drama was mostly internal contemplation of stuff an ex had said (which is real and we’ve all been there) and I’d liked to have seen some higher external drama, especially when she messes up at work and with her friends.

Overall, though, I’d recommend it for lovers of queer Hollywood stories.

This book is pure queer joy. Such a sweet romance and reflection on the importance of self-love. This novel shows how pivotal familial and platonic relationships are to one’s confidence and happiness. I really appreciated the diversity in sexual and gender identity and how comfortable the characters were with their queerness. Nina’s character development was so real and I related to her self-esteem issues and her tendency to cut off people instead of leaning on them for support. I really felt like I knew her and I was rooting for her since the beginning. Ari is literally the sweetest, most loving person. I loved all of the characters sooo much!! The epilogue had me teary eyed.

I really like Amy Spalding's writing style, and I remember reading and loving The Summer of Jordi Perez a few years back. Unfortunately, For Her Consideration didn't wow me in the same way.

First and foremost, I think this book was unnecessarily long, and the pace was slow. IMO it was too slow to feel engaged with, particularly within the first half of the novel. I think another edit would've done this book more justice, as Nina and Ari's story is cute, but there are so many other things that add to the story that take up a lot of time too. Some good, some not so exciting. The other two storylines I liked was Nina's relationship with her aunt, and her friendship group. I just wish it was a bit more streamlined.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Books for a copy of this novel. ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

This book was cute, and I liked all the characters. A celebrity romance always catches my attention in the book world and overall, I liked the story. I did have a problem though. I did not like the writing style. This is probably just me, but it was a bit distracting from the plot. Instead of doing the cool reading thing where the words start to fade and you're in the realm of pure bookish imagination, I was rereading sentences because I was getting annoyed by the narrator's voice. Other than that, the story itself was pretty good and I liked the little emails thrown in. I like books that have another writing medium in them such as letters, emails, texts.

Having read YA novels from Amy Spalding in the past, I was interested to see what she'd do with an adult romance. Especially since it was still a sapphic read!

This is a single point of view romance, written from the point of view of insecure and isolated Nina Rice. She has a job that she works with remotely (which, actually, I think is the first time I've read that in a book) and only on rare occasions, requests from her boss, or specific meetings does she go into the office. Her job is basically to write up emails from the point of view of various talent in the agency she works for.

Ari Fox is one of these clients. She's advertised at the start as a control freak and incredibly picky, and definitely that's what we see from Nina's boss' point of view. However, in all of her interactions with Ari, she's actually really mild. The first interaction they have, however, is that Ari has a concern about the way that Nina is writing her emails. And then the issue that they have later in the emails is that, while they are having a fight, Nina unprofessionally writes something that she's more or less sure Ari wouldn't approve of.

It's more complex than that in the actual story, but considering these are the only two times when I felt Ari was being a control freak, or unreasonable, they stood out in contrast to the rest of her character.

Nonetheless, I loved this novel. I loved the interaction between the two women, I loved seeing Nina come out of her shell 3 years after a relationship that went wrong. I loved the found family that Nina reconnected with during this novel, and how, now that they know she'll hide away when emotionally overwhelmed, they didn't allow her to abandon them a second time.

For most of this novel, I actually read Nina as autistic, but the word is never used on the page. Just a bunch of traits I recognised and felt satisfied to see on the page.

This was a cute, light read about a girl, Nina, who is carrying around quite a bit of baggage from a past breakup. How those mean & hurtful works from exes can stick with you and unknowingly it becomes a mantra in your head.

Lucky for Nina, she has some of the best friends who not only hold her accountable, but also love, encourage and support her through all the trials.

Nina meets this up and coming movie star who she inherently does not feel good enough for even tho Ari adores her.

They go through their trials and a breakup only to realize that in fact they do love each other and with a little work and respect they can get through anything.

This book was overall delightful! It was easy to get into the characters and i loved the focus on queer fam friendships. I feel like i have read a glut of romance novels with a grandmother in a care facility lately so i think i found that a little unnecessary, but the main connection between ari and nina was solid... until the inevitable conflict like 80% of the way through that we get in every romance novel. It felt really confusing to me? Like i had to read it again to understand why it was a big deal, and still don't totally know. I just feel AS USUAL like some therapy could be helpful and am glad that her friends thought the same. But this is one of my fave Hollywood themed romances i have read and i enjoyed it so much.

The story revolves around Nina and her life living in LA as part of the LGBTQ+ community. I have mixed feelings about this book. I really liked the first half, how the characters were described and the closeness between them. It is also one of the rare books I’ve read with the main character being lesbian (which felt very refreshing and enjoyable). The jobs and scenery described also felt really new and realistic. However, the second half of the book felt very dragging, boring and flat. The characters (especially Nina) became really annoying and the whole story was predictable. I would probably not reread it but could still see myself recommending it.

This one wasn't interesting enough for me and ended up as a DNF.

This was cute, and I loved the characters. I think that the author did a great job of showcasing LGBTQ+ characters - it’s so important to have books like this in every genre. The Hollywood scene seemed a little too tame to be realistic, but that’s not a big deal. Good storyline, but the relationship-almost-falls-apart-because-of-main-character’s-self-loathing is starting to feel overdone and over present in every romance. If you don’t read many romances, you’ll probably love it because everything else is great.

this was such a sweet read! i loved Nina and absolutely adored Ari! i’m not normally one for the famous/non-famous troupe as it can feel unrealistic and a bit forced but the author did such a good job it that the chemistry and relationship between Nina and Ari felt natural. this book also has a strong found family feel to it which is one of my all time favourite troupes! the banter was witty and funny, the LA setting was wonderful and the body positivity made my heart happy.

I love romance books - they are usually fun, fast and easy reads...and. Queer romance is my new favorite genre, This book was exactly what I needed! Great character development, a quick but not unrealistic pace, and a satisfying ending. The main character's self-isolation & lack of communication with her dear friends was a bit unbelievable, but I loved the dynamic between her and her paramour so much I could ignore it

Thank you to Kensington Books& NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this digital ARC

A wonderful, tender, and sexy romance! I loved this Hollywood based romance about a queer woman finding out that she's actually pretty amazing after some heartbreaks. Fun and a definite must-read for all romance fans.
