This was a cute sapphic romance that didn't shy away from the harder parts of life. I had a little trouble getting into the story at first, but once I was in, I enjoyed every second of it.
The chemistry between Nina and Ari was incredible. However, when Nina's insecurities took up more room in the story, this too easily drifted from a romance to a women's fiction novel. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it does mean this isn't a mindless and happy romance.
I like the narrator for the audiobook very much. You could clearly hear the difference between the characters and their personalities, which sadly isn't always a given with audiobook narrators.

For Her Consideration has the found family trope, my quintessential weakness. Therefore it was a read I really enjoyed.

If there’s one thing I can count on Amy Spalding for, it’s writing a book that’s so quintessentially Los Angeles that it seems amazing it hasn’t existed before.
For Her Consideration tells the story of Nina, a Hollywood assistant who ends up working with Ari, a movie star who’s referred to as a control freak, but is one of the kindest people to Nina. Their professional relationship becomes much less professional, but isn’t that what we come to romance books for? This one doesn’t disappoint.
I sometimes struggle with the “Hollywood Star Falls for ~Normal Person~” trope, but that wasn’t the case with this one. I found myself so deeply invested in Nina and Ari’s relationship, yelling aloud at Nina when she made bad choices with friends and during the Third Act Moment. The ending soared.
I’m so excited for Spalding’s next adult romance. I can’t wait to take diligent notes on what new LA restaurants to try.

Synopsis: Since a crushing breakup three years ago, Nina Rice has written romance, friends, her dreams of scriptwriting for TV, and even L.A. proper out of her life. Instead, she's safely out in the suburbs in her aunt's condo working her talent agency job from home, managing celebrity email accounts, and certain that's plenty of writing-and plot-for her life. But a surprise meeting called by Ari Fox, a young actress on everyone's radar, stirs up all kinds of feelings Nina thought she'd deleted for good...
Ari is sexy, out and proud, and a serious control freak, according to Nina's boss. She has her own ideas about how Nina should handle her emails-and about getting to know her ghostwriter. When she tells Nina she should be writing again, Nina suddenly finds it less scary to revisit her abandoned life than seriously consider that Ari is flirting with her.
Between reconnecting with her old crew and working on a new script, a relationship with a movie star seems like something she'll definitely mess up-but what could be more worth the risk?
Review: FINALLY!! A plus-size MC, queer romcom that breaks the mould! I LOVED this! Every page had me hooked. It's unique, the characters are diverse, and the writing was *chefs kiss*. I am constantly saying that l'm looking for rom-coms that are diverse and bring something new to the scene. This is it, and it's brilliant.
5/5 stars ~

It was hard to like the main character, I’m not sure if it was the narrator or the writing, but she was so weak it was hard to like her, she did grow on me once she met Ari, who was like, almost too perfect? Too supportive, too loving, but I think both characters grew together really well and I did end up liking the book, just took about half the book- the found family/ friend groups were perfect, no notes, just love

5*
I absolutely adored this book. I loved how it’s set in the very here and now without it trying too hard and I love a good happy, romantic storyline, so this was right up my alley. But what I loved most about it was how truthful this was to queer experiences, the sense of community and the little chosen family reminded me of the old L Word group, without the toxicity of that. Also: the spicy scenes were top notch, with sexy consent asking and realistic descriptions. Well done!
Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book.

Super fun queer romance with lots of steam, and fat representation. This was a quick and fast paced read. Would read more by this author.

Oh, how I loved this book. Nina and Ari were so adorable that I never wanted to leave their world. And Nina's friends were the kind of people that everyone should have in their lives. Even with Nina's struggles within herself and with the nasty list her ex-girlfriend wrote her, she still learned to love herself and open herself up to others. This was story was so sweet and heartfelt, I wanted it to go on forever! I can't wait to read whatever Amy Spalding writes next!

Dumped by her gaslighting ex 3 years ago (I’m not over it yet) Nina Rice has secluded herself in the suburbs of LA. Her dreams of becoming a tv writer buried and replaced with a job working for a talent agency, pretending to be celebrities via email.
Ghosting her old friends, working remotely from her aunt’s condo, Nina’s only social activity is weekly lunches at the retirement community. Until Ari Fox, Queer film darling, wants to get to know the woman who is writing her emails. Ari breaths life in to Nina’s lonely world, and after running in to one of her old friends, she begins to realize one persons opinion of her may not be worlds view.
Nina and Ari’s friendship and relationship is certainly a large arc in this story, but Nina’s relationship with herself is the real main plot to me. When her ex breaks up with her, providing a list of bullet points in all the ways she is toxic, a part of Nina shuts down. Her journey finding herself again, and trusting her relationships beautiful to watch.

For Her Consideration is a sweet story with romance and found family. The main character is a little too frustrating for a little too long, which made this read drag more than I would've liked.

I loved this book! The characters were relatable and absolutely adorable, and I loved Nina and Ari's relationship. I loved how their relationship blossomed, but what was a little annoying in the beginning was Nina's complete denial/ignorance. I also loved the inclusion of how Nina did get therapy - having a girlfriend doesn't magically solve all your problems. All in all, it was a great read.

I liked the side characters a lot but they're the only reason I could continue with the book. While I understand how our insecurities can shape us, Nina's behaviour seemed like an overreaction and so she got on my nerves.
I find it hard to believe that a close knit group like the one shown in the book would not check up on their friend. Ever. But the plot was enjoyable, if I ignored Nina and her unreasonable behaviour, which i found i could do a little after Ari was introduced.

FOR HER CONSIDERATION yanked my heart out and put it back in by the end. It is a fabulous (mid-20s) coming of age story with romance woven in. I loved and felt every bit of this book. If you're struggling with where you are at in your life, this is the book to pick up.

On paper, this book is perfect or me It's queer, fat positive, and a celebrity romance. All three things that I love to read.
Unfortunately, it fell flat for me. I liked Nina and Ari as characters along with their relationship. However, the bizarre third act breakup kind of ruined it for me. Third act breakups are not my thing in general but this one didn't make any sense. It felt even more unnecessary than a usual third act breakup.
Nina's relationship with her friends was also something I had mixed feelings about. They're so close but she disappeared for three years and they thought she was dead and no one checked on her? Really? That made the rest of the relationships feel hollow to me.
And I generally had a hard time getting into the story.

Nina Rice had a very bad breakup three years ago.
A very bad one, like unrealistically bad.
Now, she works at a talent agency writing emails for the hottest stars in LA (which honestly sounds like a dream job to me). But she's kinda stuck. She doesn't go out, has no friends and isn't growing career-wise.
When she has an unexpected meeting with the hottest queer actress Ari Fox her life starts picking up again. Which might be good, because a life where the only thing you look forward to is brunch with your 80-something-year-old aunt is kinda boring.
This was a quick and entertaining read if you can ignore Nina's inner monologue every now and then. The romance between Nina and Ari was way too insta love for my taste, but I can look past it because it was a fun ride.
I did feel like the inner monologue mentioned queerness and fatness way too much, especially being a queer fat person. However, I'm not one to have an opinion on this as I am not a queer fat person, but if you dislike repetitiveness this is something to keep note of.
However, if you ever need a palate cleanser and just want to read a fun queer romance novel with a 30-year-old main character, I'd say give this a chance and who knows.

I really wanted to like this book, as I generally really enjoy contemporary F/F romance, and the premise sounded appealing. Unfortunately, I found the writing style to be very disjointed, with abrupt breaks between chapters that made me continually feel like I was missing something. Not enough information was given to the reader to be fully immersed in the story, and I think it would have really benefited from having the perspective of both women rather than one.

This was fun but I didn’t love it as much as other similarly themed sapphic romances, would have liked a little more steam and also to get to know Ari a bit more since it felt like we never really got to know her as well as Nina.

4.5 Stars and rounding up because I’m a little disappointed with the overall rating for this.
“For Her Consideration” was a surprisingly good read for me and I really enjoyed it a lot. I say surprisingly only because I have never read anything by Amy Spalding before and it’s always hit or miss to read a new author. Thankfully, this was a very big hit and now I’ll definitely be on the look out for more sapphic romances from her.
I think one of my favorite things about this was Nina’s friend group. She’s got 5 close friends that do weekly brunches and I loved them all. I also loved how they all loved each other and were not shy about showing it. Found family is a real thing and it was highlighted so well here.
The romance was sweet and Ari was pretty fantastic. I loved that she came with some flaws, mostly how she likes to be in control, and wasn’t shown to be perfect despite that fact she’s a celebrity. This is also a single point of view. This doesn’t always work in romance for me but it worked for me this time. I never felt like we were missing out on much by not having Ari’s point of view.
While I did love this book, there were some frustrating moments. Nina is insecure because of a previous relationship, which I get and was very relatable. However, the fact that she took these comments from her ex and believed them so strongly just didn’t make a lot of sense to me. Her friend group knew her so well and for much longer than the ex did, and it seemed illogical that she wouldn’t have gone to them with the toxic comments. And then she responds the same way later on after a disagreement with Ari.
Also, I wish I had an Aunt Lorna in my life, she was a true gem.
I received and ARC from Kensington Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Nina has spent the years after a devastating breakup writing emails on behalf of celebrities instead of writing TV scripts. But when celebrity, Ari Fox, wants Nina to get to know her to write emails that sound more like Ari, Nina's life begins to expand from reuniting with her friends to a growing romance with Ari.
Nina's lack of confidence and self negativity was so painful in a terribly relatable way.

I'm always here for sweet f/f romances!
For Her Consideration is a fun read that shows readers just how important female friendship can be and that sometimes, to power through is the absolutely right move. It follows three Hollywood hopefuls who learn just how cutthroat the world of glitz and glam truly is - and how difficult it can be to stay true to yourself when everyone tells you to be more than you already are.
While this was entertainable, there wasn't really anything that stuck with me after reading it - still, it was a great read and I'm looking forward to more from this author!
