Nina Rice was broken up with in a rather brutal way, tbh, in that her ex-girlfriend gave her a list of twelve very specific reasons why she was a toxic person who would essentially ruin the lives of everyone she was close to. So Nina Rice pulled a Reputation Taylor Swift move and secluded herself in the suburbs of LA for like three years. But then she has to meet Ari Fox for work reasons and her life slowly starts to change.
Now, to be clear, For Her Consideration is absolutely a romance novel. This one hits the right beats and most importantly, ends with a happy for now/happily ever after vibe. And more importantly, this book is deeply healing in a way that I don't think I can quite articulate. But there is something about the way Nina's friends, her found family, welcome her back after her extended absence and the way they talk and heal and come back together. There's something wonderful about the presence of Nina's aunt in this book and the way she and Ari meet and the way Nina has lunch with her and her friends every Thursday. If you liked Love at First by Kate Clayborn, you absolutely need to read this book. I think you'll love it.

I think this was a cute romance book and it delivered on what it promised. I did also really enjoy the friendships in this book.

I love Amy's books and I love this story! This was such an easy read and also a fun read if that makes sense. This was just one of those books that you can read in one sitting and just sit with a smile on my face and I read this. Thank you so so much for this breath of fresh air that I desperatly needed

It took me so long to get into this book, it's quite embarrassing.
I loved this book, so so much!
It's well written, the characters are well described and the plot is likely to happen to any group of friends (speaking of which, is there someone who wants to create a group of twenty-something queer women in Northern Italy?).
The story follows Nina (I loved her from the beginning because all the fictional Ninas I know are perfect, hi Nina Zenik!), a thirty-something lesbian, who has been in self-imposed isolation, since her ex-girlfriend Taylor told her, upon leaving her three years prior, that she is the doom of all her friends with her tardiness and self-centeredness. Through her work, she meets Ari, a rising star in queer Hollywood, and Nina ends up breaking the number one rule when working as an agent, or well, an assistant to one, in Hollywood: "Don't fuck the talent".
This relationship pushes Nina to face the "demons" of her past, reconnect with her friends, and finally, take matters into her own hands and follow the dream she came to Los Angeles with.
There is nothing I would change about his book, I truly loved it all, even the part I didn't like, such as Ari's insistence on Nina following her dream and facing her fears, was so much part of human nature and of Ari's own character, they felt just right.
I loved the family aspect, both blood and found, as Nina says near the end of the book. Lorna is an exceptional character and I aspire to be just like her at 81 years old. The found family is truly great: I loved the sense of community, of safety, they radiate throughout the book. I even enjoyed the confrontation in the end about abandonment.

I’m a sucker for a Hollywood romance so I figured I’d probably enjoy For Her Consideration, but I did not expect to fall head over heels for Nina and Ari.
For Her Consideration is equal parts swoony romance and tale of self-discovery, all set within a spot on portrayal of Hollywood agencies. It’s also one of those romances that touches your heart and stays with you long after you finish the last page. Nina, the main character, is the primary reason for this. Her struggles in her personal life and career felt so real and I think anyone who has ever felt like they’re waiting for one thing to fall into place so they can start the rest of their life will really connect with her story.
There are many other things that made For Her Consideration an easy 5⭐ read for me: -Nina’s friend group, who I wish I could go to brunch with tomorrow
-Lorna and the rest of her posse who I want to have a gossip sesh with
-Ari, who was the perfect foil and partner to Nina
-The use of emails in Nina and Ari’s courtship
-The ending, which while I never wanted to get to, was the perfect way to conclude the story.
If you’re going to read one romance this year, please make it this one!
For Her Consideration is out now. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I received For Her Consideration by Amy Spalding for free on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much for my advanced copy!
This was such a CUTE read!! I loved our main character Nina Rice so much and related to her so many times. It broke my heart how badly her ex treated her and I just wanted to reach into the book, shake her and tell her how amazing she is 😂 Her circle of friends were amazing and I loved seeing her reconnect with them and watch her confidence grow!
The writing style was easy to fall in love with and I practically devoured this book! I think the only thing that kind of irked me was when Ari would keep calling Nina by her full name in every other sentence but that it completely minor and doesn’t affect my love for this book!
This was such a lovely sapphic story, I can’t wait to read it again!

Nina Rice is an absolutely relatable over-thinking, self-doubting 30 something who just wants to live a happy life… but life can be tricky!
She was a super sweet, vulnerable character and I could totally relate to her anxieties about her relationships with people. I loved the dynamics of her friend group and her love interest, Ari. They were all so fun and real!
It felt a little repetitive in parts but overall was a sweet, romantic, touching read. ♡

Oh, this was FUN. I love romances set in Hollywood, and I love a forced proximity opposites-attract romance. Amy Spalding's characters are warm, considerate and deeply likable. I wanted to be in the room with them, having drinks or watching TV or laughing along with a joke. It's hard to come by a romance novel that you want to live inside of, and this was one of them. I hadn't read any of Amy Spalding's work before, but I'll be anxiously waiting for her next book after finishing this one.

I received this book complimentary from NetGalley but all opinions are my own.
This will probably be one of the best books I read all year. This is an excellent read. Every character was thoughtful and carefully written, full of life and love and promise. The scenes were interesting and charming. Nina and Ari are a delight on paper (or e-ink I suppose) and I hope to someday find my Ari. I felt at home in this book as a queer person. This book was incredibly well-written and funny and charming and wonderful and I want to be a part of Nina’s found family. My lord, I will be thinking about and loving this book for ages to come.

I was happily surprised with Amy Spalding's debut adult romance book, For Her Consideration. I wasn't a fan of her last few YA titles but I think this was such a strong adult sapphic debut. I loved that the story didn't rely on the romance for our main character to grow and develop in her life.

Nina Rice just went through a terrible breakup. Three years later, she is still impacted by this experience. She changed her life drastically based on the appalling characteristics her ex confronted her with. Completely isolated from her former life, she works remotely for an agency dealing with Hollywood talent’s affairs. She is great at her job and content with how things are going.
One day she has to meet with one of the talents to improve her interactions. As soon as Nina meets Ari, she is crushing hard. But why would Ari ever be interested in her, a cursed nobody? After weeks of falling and falling, Nina has to make a decision: move on from the past or go back into solitude.
I’m pondering back and forth about how I liked this book. It was a welcome distraction from heavy topics, even though it deals with a few toxic relationship problems. I always enjoy a good slow burn, and this story was perfectly paced. I was even happy when it finally worked out. But in the end, I just didn’t like Ari’s character. I know that Nina liked her taking the lead, but Ari took over too much of the wheel. So the ending could have gone either way, and I would have been okay with it. It’s definitely not the love story of the year but good enough for a fun little meet-cute.

I wanted to love this so badly, but it fell flat for me, I didn't feel like our main characters had that much chemistry if any.

liked this a lot!!! thought the character was tbh quite annoying but in a real and relatable way and sometimes annoying people deserve to read about finding love too!! that’s basically the premise of harry met sally and they were right there too.

I was so keen to read this since it was on a list of most anticipated romance books for 2023, but unfortunately this book was not at all for me.
Nina Rice experienced a bad breakup 3 years ago, and ever since she’s kept in her lane. Living in her aunt’s condo in the suburbs of LA, doing her daily crossword puzzle and no longer participating in her old life, Nina thinks that she is doing okay. When Ari Fox - one of the celebrities Nina maintains an email account for - asks to catch up so that Nina can improve the emails she is writing, they start a friendship which eventually leads to more. Nina has to question her reasons for her current lifestyle and whether she’s ready for the next steps in her life.
This book is actually quite gloomy for a romance novel. Nina has basically isolated herself for 3 years due to low self-esteem caused by a nasty email sent by her ex-girlfriend. Some light is made of this situation in the story, but I just kept thinking that 3 years is such a long time to live with such little joy by choice. I felt that this hiding was a little at odds with Nina’s character who is oftentimes quite confident in herself. It made me feel really sad and quite annoyed with her friends who later tell Nina that they’ve heard a rumour that she died instead of trying to track her down in the first place (?)
By nearly halfway through the book I was feeling like nothing had really happened. The first half of the book is taken up by a series of hangouts between Ari & Nina as they discover their feelings for each other. These scenes are actually really cute and I definitely believed that they were a strong match for each other, however I kept waiting for another layer to the story. I didn’t exactly love the writing style of the author either. There were a lot of repetitive descriptors and some cliches that I could have done without too (inhaling scents etc). However I’d definitely read another book by the author because for all I know it could be totally different.
I wonder if not enough was made of the fact that Ari was a celebrity. It was portrayed that Ari is very private and not a large enough celebrity that she receives much media attention. I’m definitely no expert on celebrities and paparazzi but I was surprised that it didn’t have more of an impact and create more inconvenience for these two as they started seeing each other. Maybe this could have been the actual drama that I was looking out for.
Some positive elements to the story are the ‘found family’ nature of Nina’s group of friends who really seem to love and support each other like family (other than above mentioned lack of care when Nina disappears for 3 years). Nina also has a really beautiful relationship with her great-aunt Joyce. I love seeing really close familial relationships in books where the family member really gets the main character.
Overall, I didn’t really enjoy this book and it took me a while to get through reading it as I wasn’t invested in the characters, and it was kind of a mood dampener. However, that's just my experience with the book and others may really enjoy it.

Nina gave up on her dream of screenwriting — and romance — after a bad breakup three years ago. But when she starts ghostwriting emails for a hot queer actress named Ari Fox, Ari insists Nina get back to writing her own stuff. Their budding relationship gives Nina the courage to give her professional and romantic dreams a second chance.
Nina is such an endearing protagonist, Ari is the dreamiest of love interests, and Amy Spalding's sense of humor had me hooked. I love the world Spalding built in this book, full of lovable queer characters and fun settings. For Her Consideration is a delight from start to finish.

This was a fun book to read. I loved the representation - lesbian MC, who's also curvy - and the book has some well-loved tropes, such as found family and friends to lovers.
While it was an enjoyable ride, this book kind of fell flat for me. I missed some of the heat where it was supposed to be and the banter didn't do it for me. The characters were lovely, though. I would've preffered a dual POV or at least an altogether third person POV, but at least the 1st person POV was written well enough. I could've done without the cliche of a 3rd act breakup, but it's a cliche for a reason.
I loved the representation, the pride in the characters in being themselves and I adored all the snacks mentioned throughout the book. Got me wanting snacks as well.
Overall, it was a good saphic read for a light reading.

This is a cute friends to lovers romance.
Nina works from home and manages email accounts for several celebrities. Her boss gets a complaint from a sexy actress named Ari. When Nina and Ari meet, sparks fly. Can Nina get over a bad breakup and work on a relationship with Ari?
I enjoyed reading this story, 4 stars.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.

A slow start but a good story with body positivity. I'm always a sucker for celeb romances and this one seemed really genuine and enjoyable.

Loved it!
Smart, sexy, full of fun LA bits that felt like a nudge for locals. The found-family cast of characters made the book so rich and added a lot of dimension. I really enjoyed this.

I loved Ari, she was so confident && spontaneous, && seemed like she would be so fun to be around! But Nina was not. I didn’t particularly like Nina. She could be very frustrating! Like the level of denial she was in was mind blowing. lol. She also self- sabotaged like no other. Ari definitely deserved better but the heart wants what the heart wants!
I do wish this was told in dual pov because we only get Nina’s side! I think it would have been so much better if we got to hear what Ari was thinking and feeling.
It was a good book all in all but I think it could have been better! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. I know I’m late posting my review.
