Overall this was just okay. It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible. It missed that little bit of *something* to make it a higher rating. I did love that it was basically an all-queer cast and Nina (the MC) was fat and repeatedly referred to herself as fat. Not disparaging, just an observation, which is so important!

At one point, with about 100 or so pages left in this book I texted one of my bff’s that this book was giving me fucking anxiety and I was not kidding. I couldn’t put this down at all, because it would’ve made me ending it on a cliffhanger.
Sleeping at a reasonable time? Nah. Not happening.
How much do I love these characters? More than mint chocolate chip ice cream, and if you know me, you know that’s a whole helluva lot.
Ari Fox is my type, I’ve had a type for a long time and she is it. I don’t know why, but it made me love this book from the moment she appeared on the page.
I was admittedly nervous about Nina Rice when I first started to read, worried for her, worried if she would be a reliable narrator or not (spoiler alert: she both is and isn’t).
And Lorna?! Oh my god, everyone should have an aunt like Lorna. She is a class act and often unintentionally hilarious.
This book was a slow burn, which normally I have a problem with, but let me tell you it was captivating and fascinating. I loved watching the friendships build, and get rebuilt until there was an extremely satisfying ending.
Seeking: My own Ari Fox. You don’t have to be famous though.

For Her Consideration is a romcom set in Hollywood, between a plus size lesbian who works at a talent agency and an up and coming lesbian actress.
The beginning of this book was really slow, and I wasn’t sure I was going to end up enjoying it. But once the ball started rolling on the romance aspect, I was all aboard.
Nina Rice is a very interesting character. She’s plus size and confident in that, but she is just so unconfident in every other aspect of her life. She’s convinced she’s uncool, and toxic.
Ari Fox is the complete opposite, she’s younger, and confident in everything.
So their relationship has this push and pull, Nina for the first half of their relationship is one foot out the door, waiting for an excuse to run away because she’s scared.
My favourite part of the book was without a doubt the emphasis on Nina’s queer friend group. All of them were such amazing side characters, each unique from the others. The problem with a large supporting character cast is that sometimes they blend together, they aren’t distinct enough from each other. It couldn’t have been more opposite here. I loved how supportive they were of each other. Having a queer friend group (I would even say that it was almost queer chosen family) like that is the dream!
Lorna and Nina’s relationship was sweet, and Lorna was by far the best character, I was living for her sass!
The writing was good and kept me engaged, and I loved the ending. It was sweet and satisfying and tied everything up perfectly. 4/5 stars.

I am not sure who fell more in love.. me with the characters or Nina and Ari. While I loved how the book played out and how Nina and Ari became to grow so close I wish there would have been some elaboration on Nina’s prior relationship. The book mentioned many times how much damage Taylor (Nina’s Ex) had done but never fully gave details on what happened. Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book and appreciated the representation from this book. I liked Nina's character development and Ari seemed like such a cool girl.
However, I do wish Nina would have done more to (ex. seek help from a therapist) not self-sabotage so much. Taylor caused her immense trauma and I feel like it wasn't explored too much - only that it was repeated often.
I would definitely read another book by this author.

For Her Consideration is a beautiful story of Nina & Ari’s queer Hollywood romance. Nina works at a talent agency, answering emails for celebrities. One of which is Ari Fox. Nina wants to be a scriptwriter but is still struggling to find herself after breaking up with her ex-girlfriend 3 years ago. Nina and Ari begin a fiery romance, the whole time Nina keeps wondering when Ari is going to realize that she’s just not worth it.
I gave this book a solid 3.5 stars for a few reasons:
1 - I loved the character development that we saw from Nina, but I wish we had known sooner just how much Taylor had broken her down.
2 - I loved the back characters - her coworkers, her friends, her aunt. They really helped tell the story and helped Nina’s character grow.
3 - I felt the beginning of the story was a little slow and the ending was too rushed to wrap it up.
Overall, I like the story but I did struggle to feel an emotional connection to the story. My current rating scale heavily depends on an emotional connection to the story…. So take that with a grain of salt?
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

If there was an award for the most self-sabotaging character, Nina would for sure win. She sequestered herself away from her loved ones after a bad break-up for THREE YEARS. Granted, I’ve never had someone write a 12-point essay on all the things wrong with me, but her assumptions that her friends felt the same way was a bit extreme. Ari was great and I loved the romance between her and Nina, and the fact that she was so forgiving and open. Overall it was cute and was great plus-size rep, but man, Nina drove me crazy!
thank you NetGalley and Kensington for this arc!

🤔where did ya come from?🤷🏼♀️
- I received an eARC of this from the publisher (Kensington) and it was released in February.
😍the good stuff😍
- Lesbian love story 🌈😍
- A lot of this was also about Nina finding herself and re-finding her found family. I loved those bits just as much as the love story between Nina and Ari.
- Famous actress who’s not super recognizable to the general public yet ☺️ yes yes yes.
- Lorna, her great-aunt, is such a fun character and supporter of Nina in every way.
- Karl. I loved Karl.
🫢my complaints🤫
- It didn’t move as fast as I would’ve liked as a whole, but I still really enjoyed it. It just took me a bit to get into the story.
☺️the tropes☺️
- Famous one
⚠️the warnings⚠️
- A little spicy.
rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had really high hopes for this book after loving Jordi Perez and to a certain extent, it did fulfil my expectations but at the same time, didn't.
The writing style was good, as was the premise but for me, characters lacked depth and there were a lot of things that could've been executed a lot better. The main conflict especially didn't satisfy me at all. I don't want to spoil but the reader is just told about the conflict (which is basically character flaws in the MC) through the various characters but we never get to see the conflict in action except for the very start of the book. It feels like the MC has suddenly overcome them which she didn't.
If these things usually don't bother you then I'll definitely recommend reading it.
Actual rating- 3.5

"For Her Consideration" by Amy Spalding is a witty and charming novel that explores the complexities of love, friendship, and Hollywood glamour. The book follows the story of a young woman named Emmy who dreams of becoming a successful screenwriter. When she lands a job as a writer's assistant on a hit TV show, she quickly learns that the world of Hollywood is not all glitz and glamour.
One of the things that I loved about this book is the way that the author captures the excitement and energy of the entertainment industry. Spalding has a talent for describing the inner workings of Hollywood with humor and authenticity, and the reader can't help but be drawn into the world of the TV show that Emmy works on.
Another standout feature of "For Her Consideration" is the well-drawn and relatable characters. Emmy is a witty and intelligent protagonist, and her friendships with her fellow assistants are both entertaining and touching. The romantic subplots in the book are also well-developed, and the reader can't help but root for Emmy as she navigates the ups and downs of her love life.
The writing in "For Her Consideration" is engaging and fast-paced, and Spalding has a talent for creating snappy dialogue and clever plot twists. The book is also filled with insights and observations about the entertainment industry and the challenges faced by women in Hollywood.
Overall, "For Her Consideration" is a delightful novel that will appeal to anyone who enjoys stories about the entertainment industry or the complexities of relationships. It is a well-written and entertaining book that is sure to keep the reader hooked until the very end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun and engaging read.

Lovely sapphic LGBT novel. I loved the representation of a bigger sapphic girl. These characters were lovingly written and it showed throughout.

Three years after an ugly breakup with her awful (in my opinion) ex-girlfriend, she took a mental and physical hit to her very core and she hasn’t yet recovered. She’s become a functional recluse and leave the home to deal with people in person only when absolutely necessary. She is convinced that she only causes pain to others so has chosen to step back from the real world. She works/hides behind her computer screen and is seemingly content. And then she gets an email that compels her to re-enter the world. Its a lovely story of self discovery, friendship, relationships, love, trust and so much more. A sweet contemporary romance.

Romances set in Hollywood do something to me, I just adore them. Nina wants to be a scriptwriter for TV, but currently she works at a talent agency managing the email accounts for celebrities. After a pretty big break up, she has moved to the suburbs of LA and is living in her aunt’s condo, having cut off almost everyone in her life. When Ari Fox, a young popular actress asks for a meeting with the person controlling her email account because they don’t sound like her, Nina’s life flips upside down.
Nina and Ari hit it off almost immediately and strike up a friendship where Nina is pining after someone she thinks could never love her back. Whilst this is a romance, For Her Consideration is also about Nina reconnecting with her friends and learning to love herself and to appreciate change. Nina undergoes a lot of character development in this and I loved seeing her grow into herself. The romance was so cute and I was obsessed with their chemistry and the tension between these two.

This is a fun cute and sweet story with some spice of famous/non-famous sapphic romance. It's an okay read for me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing the ARC!

For Her Consideration is a sapphic romcom that forgets romance books require both main characters to have depth and backstory.
Nina as a main character, while frustrating at times, is written well. She has fears, hopes and dreams, and real insecurities that I, as the reader, could relate to. Her love interest, Ari, while written attractive and confident, has no depth beyond that. We hardly, if ever, see conversations on the page between Nina and Ari that convince us their connection is more than physical and surface level. I needed Ari's character to be more fleshed out. If she had been, maybe I would've cared about the third-act breakup.
If there's one thing this book does right--it's the side characters. Each one felt extremely real and had in spades the depth Ari was lacking.
Some references I became annoyed with:
-La Croix--it must be an LA thing because everyone is popping open La Croix in this book
-Nina's obsession with chai--I swear it was mentioned at least 10 times
-Waiters--they go to a lot of restaurants in this book (which was perfectly fine), and every single time a waiter/waitress's facial expression is noted (which was not fine). I don't care how the wait staff reacts to the tense conversations you're having in a restaurant. According to this book, every single wait staff person has spot-on intuition on when they should leave without taking an order due to tense looks on the characters' faces. I thought this was ridiculous to include for one and extremely overused for two.
This book, while only 320 pages, felt extremely long. When I was 50% of the way through, it felt like the story was over and I was confused about what could possibly take up the last half. Not a lot is the answer.
I skimmed the last 10% after the third-act breakup because I knew exactly how it would play out.
While I was hopeful in the beginning and For Her Consideration held a lot of promise, it focused on the wrong thing: repetition over characterization.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me an e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to Kensington Books and NetGalley for sending me the ARC. I really liked this book! Ari and Nina were soo cute. And thankfully, Ari saw the light and realizes what was right in front of her.

This book is adorable. I really love Nina e I’m in love with Ari, she’s so great (and I thought of Ariana de Bose ALL THE TIME!). Their romance is sweet and heartlighted and I really love the slow burn.
But my favorite thing is the Nina’s arc. And the way she finally accept that she was in an abusive relationship with Taylor, but the abuser wasn’t her, it was Taylor the whole time.
I also enjoyed the chosen family trope, but if I have to be completely honest, I’d like a little more effort by them when Nina disappeared from their life.
However, the book is really cute and I enjoyed it a lot. I’ll miss those characters!
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the arc!

This book was absolutely adorable and I loved it. I live Ari and Nina and their friend circle was just beyond. What an amazing found family!
Taylor was a jerk but the grace Nina showed during that entire situation was unmatched.
I love how Ari and she struck up a friendship first and then just connected so well, it was a no brainer how well they would fit together.
I do kind of wish they hadn’t spent so much time apart, but I kinda get all the growth and conversations that needed to happen in between.

A fun little romance perfect for people who enjoyed the celebrity aspect of Something to Talk About by Meryl Wilsner.
All the characters were quite well fleshed out, especially the MC's friend group. Seeing them get used to being together again and reminiscing on past experiences and old memories of how they got to know each other worked well for both the plot and the characters themselves.
The romance was pretty solid, although I would've appreciated a bit more slowburn, personally. I also expected a bit more smut considering it's a romance but I found the fade to black aspect worked just as well for the story.
I did think that the third-act break up in this just felt pointless and could've easily not have happened if they'd communicated a tiny bit more. I also felt like her hang up on her relationship was just too much. Somehow she still hadn't gotten over a break up from three years ago and avoided her friend group for those three years and it all felt too much for me. I feel like maybe if the post break-up period should have been shorter, at least a year.

Do you know when you read a book in the perfect moment? For Her Consideration had the perfect pace and talked about the precise things that are kinda happening right now in my life so I not only loved it but also thought it found me in the *right* moment.
I loved Nina and her friends, the romance with Ari, sweet and confident Ari, and her relationship with her aunt. It has great LGBTQ+ rep, briefly mentions mental health and, this was directed at me I'm sure the author read my struggles, talked about how pursuing dreams is always a gamble. In the end the choices relies in knowing what dreams are worth the risk.
