This is such a sweet romance book! I really enjoyed it. This was the first book I have read by this author and I will be looking for others. I would definitely recommend this book.
This is a sweet romance that has a military hero and a nurse. This is book 5 in the Holiday Brides series and is easily a stand alone read. Bridger has been a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown soldier and is getting out of the military and heading to his new home he inherited from his favorite uncle. He encounters a trespasser on his first night and is intrigued. Shayla loves camping and thought she was at a public lake when she’s caught naked. A wonderful love story
Book review :
Lake Bride A Sweet Western Romance (Holiday Brides Book 5) by Shanna Hatfield was a wonderful story and clean romance. This is a sweet story of rediscovery and forgiveness that tugs at the heart.
Bridger has continuously gone above and beyond to serve his country, but he now finds himself at a crossroads in his life. When he inherits a cabin from his great uncle, he is hoping that spending time there will give him the clarity he needs but he never expected that it would bring Shayla into his life.
Shayla is a nurse who is cheerful and always sees the best in everyone and every situation. From her first meeting with Bridger they are drawn to each other in a way that neither expected and that only escalates when they spend time together.
Bridger and Shayla couldn’t have been more diverse, but they balance each other to perfection as she not only shows him love but gives him hope for the future as well.
I loved that this story involved Bridger's ancestors and their history in the small town and how that history was being preserved and how that influenced and changed his current life's decisions. There is healing and friendship and love. I just love Bridger's character. He is not your typical alpha soldier, but is a kind, compassionate, loving man.
The author has well researched many areas of army details and beautifully weaved the storyline. The characters are well plotted. Language is lucid and heart warming.
The book is a clean, wholesome read with a happy ending and lots of feel good moments. I am thankful to netgalley and the publisher for giving me this book in return of an honest review.
Happy Reading!
This was a beautifully, sweet story of the magic of falling in love in the idealic setting of Holiday, Oregon.
Bridger Holt was a former soldier who had experienced some unimaginable horrors during his service. He had finished out his service as a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington cemetery and now he didn't know what to do with his life. He had inherited a cabin on the lake in Holiday from. his most beloved Uncle Wally so he decided he would start there and try to recenter himself. Except for his cousin, Madelyn, his family was a mess and very unsupportive of his life's choices.
One morning at his lake, he saw this beautiful woman emerging from the lake after a rinse and he was instantly smitten but cautious because he had never been in love or had a woman fill his constant thoughts. Shayna, he soon learned, was a nurse with a happy personality. She was kind and compassionate and beautiful, inside and out. He wanted to get to know her but was cautious because he had so much to figure out for himself but he was continually drawn to her.

He is not your typical alpha soldier, but is a kind, compassionate, loving man who has some skeletons he is trying to sort out.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
Lake Bride A Sweet Western Romance (Holiday Brides Book 5) by Shanna Hatfield was a wonderful story and clean romance.
I was pulled right in and loved the whole cast of characters in this. My favorites were of course the love interests. They were adorable and I loved watching them fall for each other. Bridger was quite and complex with an honorable presence.
I loved the historical view of this small town and wished it was real so I could see it for myself.
I highly recommend this if you love a good, clean romance.

ARC Complimentary copy provided by NetGalley for an honest opinion. This is a wholesome romance between a soldier and a nurse. Life throws you in different directions, but love keeps you steady. I would recommend this is for any romance lover for a clean and sweet read.
Such a sweet and lovely story! What I liked the most about the book is characterization and pace- it just draws you in and keeps you charmed until you've turned the last page.
This is a very sweet story of finding your home and place in the world. Bridger has recently ended his career in the military - which include d a several year stint as a sentinel guard of the tomb of the unknown soldier. After his great uncle dies and leaves him a cabin in the pacific northwest, Bridger is on a journey to figure out where he is going next in his life. That path leads him to a small town and Shayla - a nurse in a senior care facility.
To be honest - the first chapter totally hooked me. I would have been ok if that was the total extent of the book - it was so well written even as a little vignette. But the small town and historical connections were also a hit with me. I really enjoyed the very traditional romance between Bridger and Shayla as well. They were both very well developed characters. This book does fall towards the inspirational romance side of things - but it is not very heavy handed. More spiritual than religious.
Overall - I definitely recommend this as a sweet small town book. The only question left for me at the end of the book was whether Bridger ironed his underwear too?
I received this via NetGalley as an ARC, but these opinions are all my own.
This is a new author to me and I really enjoyed reading this one. It was well written and I liked the story a lot. Would definitely read more by the author in the future.

4 1/2 stars. I really enjoyed the story, kept me turning pages. Shayla was such a cheerful, optimistic, caring, and free-spirited woman. Her care for her patients squeezed my heart. Bridger's military past made him into the man he was. He was a lot stronger and softer than he thought he was. I loved how Shayla's presence brought him back to the living. The animals were cute, though I had tears over Ubu. I highly recommend this story.
I received a copy of this story through Xpresso Tours, and this is my unsolicited review.
I loved the story of Bridger and Shayla. This story has so many of things that I totally love: veterans, nurses, small towns, animals and wonderful people. I enjoyed learning about the guards who serve at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. So interesting. I don’t often read Author’s Notes, but this one is worth the read. Just an added bonus to a great story. I would love to go back to Holiday again and catch up with all my new friends. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.
bridger holt was one of the speacial gaurds at the tomb of the unknown soldiers then he retires and dicides to go to the cabin he has inherited from his uncle. he drives out to holiday or to check out the cabin and the lake. there he meet shayla when she is camping on his land. this is a great story love the animals and how the town welcomes him if you have read the other stories you will want to read this one, but if you havent you will still want to read it if you like strong men and women and animals very good i was given a copy by netgalley but this is an honest review
Lake Bride is a Sweet Contemporary Western Romance. It is part of the Holiday Brides Books by Shanna Hatfield. I totally enjoyed this story that highlighted the brave soldiers who have served to continually give the US the many freedoms that we have. While Sergeant Bridger Holt had some issues with survivor’s guilt it was not overly done or something that included substance abuse. Instead, it is his faith is that is strongest helping him. I appreciated seeing how even his career as a sentinel guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was a help to him as well as an honor.
The story’s focus is on how he finds his way back into civilian life. Granted he has opportunities that many might not have once their retire from military life still he makes best use of each gift from his great uncle. Most of the conflict in this story is an internal struggle with Bridger to find peace and his place now. I loved Shayla Reeves’ sunny disposition which Bridger couldn’t help but be drawn. She is exactly the type of woman he needs while he is what she needs too. Their faith is understated but is evident in their romance. The town of Holiday may be the best place for them, yet they are a welcome addition to the town too. Just the place you wish you could live.
