This was an uplifting book about empowering yourself through finding your boldness. I enjoyed her personal stories!

Thank you Netgalley and Hachette Books, Hachette Go, for the ARC!

Not sure this book was for me. She seems to label boldness as someone who is extraverted, as if there is something wrong with introversion. And there isn't. Introversion is a superpower in itself, and can be just as bold. And it's more like a book of "do this so you can be awesome". I enjoyed the personality and personal stories in the mix, but didn't seem like much of it. But it could be helpful for some and it wasn't terrible. Has some great tips.

This is going to be a DNF at 31% for me and there's a very specific reason why.

Firstly, I love the topic of this book, so I was very excited to get an advanced copy of this thanks to NetGalley. I really appreciated the author breaking down the concept of boldness and it not necessarily meaning extravagant living or action. There are a lot of points in the parts that I read that I really agree with.

However, the author started a section on "antifragility" by making wide sweeping statements about generations younger than Gen X'ers like herself. I'm not sure if I can quote directly, but at the 31% mark, the author talks about how kids and young adults can't be antifragile because of overly cautious parents and the "culture of safteyism". The author goes on to talk about how everyone "gets a trophy so they never feel disappointed" and how younger generations use Trigger Warnings to never feel offended. (Which is not what TWs are for, but I digress!)

There's a much better way to make the point of building a thicker skin than to say that people younger than you didn't experience individualism or independence while growing up.

I know a point being made is weak when sweeping generalizations are used to explain it and, frankly, this is exactly what this is.
