Lauren Graham can do no wrong! She is charming both on and off the screen.
In this latest set of essays--narrated by Graham herself--we are taken into the world of Graham's world of acting lessons learned on and off the screen. These are told in the only way that she can convey--this isn't Lorelei Gilmore, no this is the amazing Lauren Graham.
I cannot remember laughing out loud so much as I have with a memoir. Graham is so honest (not just when it paints her in a good light either) and refreshing. Everyone will want to be best friends with this woman--male & female, if they don't already.
I adored with book with a capital A. I hope Graham writes more.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced audio copy of this book. It helped get me through some hard days.
I loved listening to the audiobook of this one. I am always glad when the author narrates their own audiobook. This had a veneer of sadness. But it was a book of interesting essays.
This was just okay for me. I enjoyed her other books much better (Talking As Fast as I Can and In Conclusion, Don't Worry About it).
This book of essays by Lauren Graham is just as funny and charming as you want it to be. It's filled with loving anecdotes and honest stories about topics like aging in Hollywood and friendship. Lauren Graham feels like the friend you'd want to have through her writing, and her fans won't be disappointed.
'Have I told You This Already?' is a funny and compelling collection of essays from actress Lauren Graham. Her previous memoir focused more on her professional life and her experiences on the set of Gilmore Girls. This one features more of her personal life and experiences in general and her unique and cleverly funny perspective. I love her thoughts on storytelling and the effect it's had on her life and vice versa. Graham is an excellent writer, it's very easy to hear her voice in her written word.
Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine (Random House Publishing Group) for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Lauren Graham is hilarious! I loved her first memoir and enjoyed this one just as much. Those of us who loved her in Gilmore Girls will adore this novel, others will find it a quick fun glimpse into Hollywood.
As many others are probably led to read Lauren's books due to Gilmore Girls, I am constantly blown away by how smart, witty, and hilarious Lauren Graham is! As we like to think she is her character Lorelai Gilmore, Lauren is so much more than that. These personal essays touch on current affairs and reflect upon great memories of Lauren's journey into becoming a celebrity. Everything is very light-hearted and comical, and it was refreshing to hear Lauren struggled with many issues other women experience, as well as how she handled it in the past and would handle it now if she could go back. She is an example of someone who worked hard and put in the time to gain her place in Hollywood. There's not a whole lot of "juicy" gossip in the book, or even much about Gilmore Girls behind the scenes, but it will keep you entertained!
This book was a delightful diversion, and easy to read in bite-sized pieces. Lauren Graham is always funny and a bit thoughtful.
When I first got the chance to read this book I did not know what to expect but then I could not stop reading it. I love the title of the book and love the name of the chapters of the book too. I really like the personal touches to each of the stories.
Love it every thing. Chapters were great.
I enjoy it very much. Such great stories laughed a lot. All in all it was a great book could not stop read it and a truly inspirational.
This book was everything I wanted it to be. It had me turned pages without even realizing. It was so good!
Much like her other books, Lauren Graham is funny and a compelling storyteller of her everyday musings. It will not give you much behind the scenes insights of her work, but if you are looking for perspective on her personal relationships, the various places she has lived, and how they have shaped her, this is the book for you.
I really wish I'd read this as an audiobook, Lauren Graham's voice comes through so strongly I can only imagine the immersion of hearing these essays read aloud. Funny, reflective at times, perfect for a light read or to avoid a slump.
I love Lauren Graham and it was so much fun to read this. I loved that she discussed a year in the life and also shared some hilarious tidbits. I loved her as Lorelai and as the mom in Parenthood.
Fun for fans. Graham is a wonderful storyteller and her stories are touching and (most often) funny. I suspect, though, that only avid fans will really enjoy this book. I'm a fan, and I read her previous book, so I was excited to read this one, written during the isolation year of Covid. More snippets about her life and her career, and her musings on aging. Very enjoyable, but (I suspect) of limited appeal.
I immediately jumped on this title as I really enjoyed the author’s other books. The flow of this felt a little haphazard, but I really liked the writing style. She was careful to give us a glimpse behind the curtain without bad-mouthing any of her costars. My favorite story was the very relatable account of the squirrels. We have all had moments where we wondered just what the universe was trying to tell us.
So, there are some jokes that work in this book of essays and a lot that don’t. The collection is all over the place. I’m interested in how movies and TV shows get made, so when she talked about the behind-the-scenes-stuff that those of us who aren’t Hollywood-types wouldn’t know, that was interesting to me. This is also part memoir, so some of the essays are a little about her struggle to make it or adopting a dog or making marmalade. Also, even if you achieve a degree of fame, you’re never guaranteed to be able to continue making a living as an actor.
This is fun enough and short but not fantastic.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I found this book fun to read and I will be purchasing a copy for our library. This book felt like I was sitting down with an old friend and talking about good times! I highly recommend it. Could be the best memoir this month. I enjoy a feel-good book.

From the cover art to the last page, Lauren Graham’s latest book is an inviting and fun way to spend a few hours.
Have I Told You This Already? is a series of short, non-fiction snapshots of Lauren’s life and thoughts. From Nora Ephron’s neck, aging in Hollywood, to NYC, and her brief time with an adopted puppy, she still has me thinking that we’d be close friends if only we’d meet.
I truly enjoyed this, and I think it has a fairly mass appeal. My thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group- Ballantine for allowing access to a digital ARC in exchange for my opinion.
A funny, deeply personal look at the life and times of Lauren Graham. Packed with laugh out loud stories, this is a great book to cozy up with!
