PI Star is back tracking down a cold case with many twists and turns. Trying to solve an old murder case opens a can of worms as secrets come out in this small Alabama town. Told in two time periods, this complex story is told in a slow manner with many red herrings. Satisfying ending.

I’m pretty picky about mystery and suspense. And I can usually spot the culprit way in advance. Not with this one. Richards spun a tale so bizarre yet believable that, despite the breadcrumbs she sprinkled along the way, I never saw the resolution coming. The split-time organization worked beautifully to bring us to the present, make us say, “AHHHH!” and leave us satisfied. This is the first book from this author I’ve read, but I can’t wait to read the previous two. Well done, Ramona Richards. You have a new fan.

Very complicated family relationships make for deep hidden secrets that must not see the light, but after Jill's request PI Star is determined to find out the truth about a murder that happend long ago. Slowly and skillfully Ramona Richards uncovers all the secrets and we readers are guessing along some steps ahead.
An entertaining read, not too suspenseful, sprinkled with credible faith.

Star Cavanaugh has her second case in Pineville (AL) when she is asked by Jill Turney to open the cold case of Genevieve Marshall Eaton whose body was found on the Turney farm many years ago. She starts getting followed, people are being murdered, and her trailer is bugged. Then witnesses start disappearing before Star could interview them. Mike, the police chief of Pineville is worried, because even "safe" outings seem to lead to danger. Will Star survive the revelations her inquiry has caused? Will the town of Pineville? Told in alternating chapters set in the present and the mid-late 1990s, the chapters slowly provide the evidence to reveal the killer, the victims, and the truth of this circle of vengeance. If you do not mid a slow build to a roaring finish, you will want to read this title!

Thanks Netgalley and Kregel Publications for the chance to read this title.

Circle of Vengeance" by Ramona Richards was a great thriller! This book hooked me from the very beginning. I loved the characters. This book goes back and forth from many years ago to the present but it isn't hard to keep up with it. The present day is written in first person point of view, which I love. I highly recommend this book and this author.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

I am thrilled to share my 5-star book review for Circle of Vengeance by Ramona Richards, the second installment in the Star Cavanaugh Cold Case series. As a fan of the first book, I was eager to dive into this next mystery and was not disappointed.

The story picks up with Star Cavanaugh, a private investigator, as she takes on a new case - the murder of Genevieve Marshall Eaton. But this case is not as simple as it seems, because people prefer to keep their secrets hidden, and "family secrets are always the deadliest". The characters and plot are well-developed, and I found myself drawn into the story from the very beginning.

One of the things I loved most about this book was how the author left a trail of crumbs for readers to follow. The tension in the story never wanes as Star delves deeper into the case and faces escalating threats to her safety.. The split-time format of the novel was also a highlight for me. It allowed me to follow the investigation in the present day while simultaneously watching the crime unfold in the past.

I appreciated that the author's focus remained on the unfolding mystery rather than Star and Mike's relationship. Yet, the relationship does deepen over the course of the book, adding a slight touch of romance to the story.

One thing to note is that sensitive readers may want to be aware of the perpetrator's actions in the story. He has a thing for young girls and is manipulative in how he grooms them before he abducts them. However, the author handles this topic with sensitivity and care.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the book, there were instances where I felt that Star showed a disregard for her safety. However, I also admire her dogged pursuit of justice.

Overall, Circle of Vengeance is a fantastic addition to the Star Cavanaugh Cold Case series. Ramona Richards did an outstanding job of crafting a well-written and engaging mystery that left me guessing until the very end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great mystery and well-developed characters.

I received a copy of the book through NetGalley to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.
