This book was so good. I seriously couldn’t put it down. This was my first Brooke Lauren book and it definitely won’t be my last.
Roxie Clark is a member of the supposedly-cursed Clark family. Most of her ancestors have died in tragic ways. Instead of being scared of the curse, she turns her family history into a ghost tour around her town. The only person she hasn’t covered on her tour is Colin Riley, her sisters boyfriend who was found murdered in the cornfield.
I seriously have nothing bad to say about this book. I loved the atmosphere of the story and the characters were really enjoyable. The mystery aspect of this book was very entertaining and kept me wanting more. I think the author did an amazing job with grief aspect of this story as well.
If you love murder mystery, ghosts tours and Halloween, highly recommend picking this one up on October 4th! It’s the perfect spooky season read.
Thank you so much to Bloomsbury YA and NetGalley for the e-arc!
Thank you NetGalley and Bloomsbury YA for this eARC, these opinions are my own. I couldn’t put the book down! I read it in two days! It’s so good! Roxie gives ghost tours in her small town, all the stops tell a store of a female in her family, the Clark women are said to be cursed. The story she doesn’t tell is the brutal murder of her sister’s boyfriend Colin. Colin is also the brother of her best friend and crush Tristan. So when her sister comes to her one night saying she believes Tristan killed Colin, Roxie is stuck in a hard place. Who killed Colin? What secrets are people keeping? The added element of stories about how Clark women of the past really added some intrigue to this story! I did think it start off a little on the slow side but it wasn’t long until I couldn’t stop reading! Skyler’s determination slightly annoyed me but also felt very realistic for someone who was grieving and looking for someone to blame! I loved the twists and turns that kept me guessing! The conclusion to this was so heart wrenching to me! Difficult choices/actions for all the characters! I highly recommend this if you mysteries and especially if you like Halloweenish vibes with your mysteries! Can’t wait to read it again!
WOW! I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by After Dark with Roxie Clark! It was so well written and I found myself engrossed with the story as well as it's characters. I loved the murder mystery, the bond between sisters and the absolute spooky vibes that Roxie had. Roxie will by far be one of my favorite book characters for a long time. I loved her ghost tours about her dead relatives and how much she cared for the stories and the history. I loved her tour bus and Ward Manor and all the spooky descriptions of everything and how much she adored everything spooky. The twist at the end was utterly heartbreaking but ultimately made this story such a great tragedy and I think the author did such a good job presenting it. This is definitely an October read by a spooky fall candle type of read and I can't wait for readers to immerse themselves on an after dark tour with Roxie Clark!
