I'm giving My Girly Unicorn 3 1/2 stars. The pictures are large and wonderfully colorful, and any child that has even a passing love for unicorns will be truly delighted by them. The words all rhyme and tell a story about a little unicorn girl with rainbow colored hair who brings the sunlight out when she dances. Unfortunately, all the other unicorn children make fun of her and exclude her from all their activities. However, before long they find themselves in quite the pickle, with a watery danger surrounding them all. Of course, at this point the little girl uses her best skills to beat back the danger and get all safely home. This is the point where happily ever after is achieved, as all the unicorns tell the girly unicorn that they all love her. This would have been an easy 4 stars except I found the prose a bit lacking, fortunately I don't think the age group for this book will ever even notice.

The cover was cute and it sounded promising, but unfortunately this story was not for us.

The other unicorns are mean to “THAT girly unicorn.” (Why “that” was emphasized? No clue.) But then some even meaner storm clouds come ruin their play and THAT girly unicorn dances and the other unicorns all suddenly love her. There was no communication and no conflict resolution. It just didn’t make any sense.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance reader copy to review!

Rudolph meets the Ugly Duckling with a rainbow uni-pony twist... It was cute, and I'm sure it will be a rather big hit with any little fans of the My Little Pony variety.

Unfortunately, now I have a yard full of children and a very large man, dressed in unicorn attire and dancing in the rain. I blame this book, but in only the best of joking ways.

Trigger warning:
This book does include some bullying, as you would see in the traditional Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer story. However, the story ends true to fashion with the group cheering our little unicorn on as she saves the day.

My Girly Unicorn is an adventure story of a unicorn with a mass of colorful hair and a purple horn. The girly unicorn is ignored and bullied by other unicorns in the rainbow playground. But when the cloud monsters hide the sun and flood the place, the unicorns are scared and have nowhere to go. It’s up to the girly unicorn to save the day.
The book deals with bullying by friends for being different. It shows how the bullies ultimately needed the girly unicorn to save them. It talks of doing your thing even if no one supports you and being confident to take on the obstacles and tide over them.
The illustrations are bright, colorful, and oh-so-pretty. The book is in portrait (vertical) orientation with the text printed below the illustrations (almost as a footnote). The rhyming verse was going great until I stumbled at one point. Sigh!
Nevertheless, My Girly Unicorn should be picked up for the illustrations. The gray looming clouds have such cutely wicked smiles and vampire-ish teeth, lol.
I received an ARC from NetGalley, Newhall Publishing Co., and Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Titles, and am voluntarily leaving a review.

What a sweet and heartwarming read about love and acceptance! The illustrations are stunning and I loved all the vibrant colours. The rhymes sound a little forced at times but overall, this is a wonderful picture book that kids will enjoy.

We enjoyed this book about a sweet little unicorn who has been bullyied and shunned from her peer group, only to turn around and save them from the evil clouds. This is a tale that has been written about in different ways, but was still fresh and fun. The graphics were very well done and the story flowed well.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review and opinion. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cute book with lovely illustrations and prose.
Read this with my 5 year old and she could comprehend well the meaning and she was able to talk about the themes afterwards regarding being mean and hurting the feelings of others.
She enjoyed this and was able to read it herself afterwards.
Great wee book

Oh well this was a cute little read. It teaches you to always be yourself and to treat others kindly.

I do wish there was more of a point made about how you treat others but that's just me.

The pictures were amazing and I'm sure any child would love it for that reason alone. Loved the rhyming too.

My girly unicorn by J. Pedicini.
My Girly Unicorn is an adventure in the colorful sky on rainbows, under rain clouds, and running along with rowdy young unicorns. This story takes readers through the world of young unicorns and their exciting games and antics. However, some unicorns do not treat a certain unicorn with kindness. When something dark interrupts their light-filled skies, a surprising character emerges as a resilient guide for hope and joy for the other unicorns. Readers will ride along on a vibrant coaster of joy, determination, and confidence in My Girly Unicorn.
A beautiful read. Great illustrations. 5*.

This is an adorably illustrated children's book about a group of unicorns, whom live in a magical unicorn world of rainbow and wonder. Our girly heroine unicorn is not being well received by the other unicorns up in the clouds. They are consistently signaling her out for being different. This is a very relatable topic that everyone has experienced multiple times in their life. It isn't about being accepted as being the different one but being deserving of equal treatment.

TW: BULLYING

The illustrations are pudgy and the colors are vibrant. Books with a rhyme scheme hold a special place in my heart.

BOOK REVIEW

My Girly Unicorn by J. Pedicini

Thank you to @netgalley for this review book. It honestly is the cutest little book I've come across recently.

My Girly Unicorn is a children's book featuring bullying, and shows children that they should never be mean to someone because of how they look or how they act.

I would say if anyone loves unicorns or pink then this is a must read as you will adore it!

The illustrations are, as I've said, cute, very cute! 😍 It made me smile just looking at the art.

But overall its a story with a good message and definitely worth a read.

It's out now in both ebook and paperback editions.

I was excited to share this story with my daughter since she loves unicorns, but I’m glad I read it first before including her. This was definitely all over the place, quite dramatic and wasn’t very encouraging. The bully books don’t resonate well with me. This one was a worse version of Giraffes Can’t Dance.

Cute illustrations and an anti-exclusionist story that helps teach young readers self-worth in the face of bullying.

That was soo cute. I love how every sentence in every page rhymes. The illustration is so sweet I almost could taste them in my mouth. The story was fine, a nice book for bed time story.
