This book has 3 stories in it by three differnt authors. Let me start with the Maddie Day story. We are back in South Lick at Pan;s and Pancakes with Robbie and crew for another mystery. When one of Robbie's customers is found murdered by poison and her Aunt comes under suspicion she is determind to clear her name. As always a well writen story with relatable characters and a fun read.
As to the other two stories I think I felt a little lost with them as I had not read anything from the author's before and the seemed to well entrenched series that I felt a little lost at times. Still good stories and well written even enjoyable but I think I would have liked them more if I was familiar with the series.
Christmas Scarf murder included three Christmas themed novellas by three of my favorite authors. Each novella was a murder mystery, involving a hand knitted scarf.
Christmas Scarf murder: Some thefts occur at a nursing home, and among the items stolen is a very long knitted scarf. The scarf is later used as a murder weapon. Siobhan has her hands full trying to find a killer while trying to finish up Christmas shopping for her large brood of siblings. I love the characters in this series. As usual lots of red herrings and a fun read.
Scarfed Down: A diner dies while knitting a scarf. It turns out some kind of poison was inserted into the yarn. Since the victim was using wool that Robbie's aunt Adele sells, her aunt becomes the main suspect. Determined to clear her aunts name, Robbie does her own investigating. This was a wonderful quick read, but so many mouth watering food .descriptions made me hungry!
Death By Christmas Scarf: A woman is found strangled by a hand knitted scarf sold at a charity auction. The murdered woman was not well liked and may of had a few enemies, including her own sister. The authorities think Laurel, the woman who won the scarf at auction, is the guilty culprit. Naturally Pamela and Bettina get involved in the investigation, as they don't believe gentle cat lover Laurel is the murderer. This was a fun short read with lots of suspects, which kept me guessing til the end.
I have enjoyed the mystery series by two of these three authors, but quality of this Christmas-themed collection was uneven. I’m normally a big fan of Carlene O’Connor’s Irish village series, but her entry disappointed overall. If you read the series, you’ll still enjoy reading about the regular characters and Siobhan and Macdara’s first Christmas as a married couple, but the story seemed to be trying to force too much into a short length. There were a few inconsistencies, including in how the main characters acted. The second entry, by Maddie Day, was stronger and enjoyable. If you read the series, again, you’ll enjoy seeing the main characters, but this could be read as a stand-alone. I was not familiar with the series the last entry continues, but it worked well enough as a stand-alone. There seemed to be less mystery and more chronicling of the characters’ lives. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest opinion.
Three excellent stories that are perfect for any time! Each has a solid whodunit. Awesome characters! All can be read as standalone but if you haven't been keeping up with these authors, you will definitely want to read more after these stories. Great Reading!! Thanks #netgalley and #Keningston for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.
I received an ARC of, Christmas Scary Murder by Carlene O'Connor: Maddie Day; Peggy Ehrhart. Death by scarf is the theme of these 3 Christmas scarf mysteries. I really enjoyed the mysteries. I will never look at a scarf the same way again.
There’s nothing I like more than a novella between books. And this set of three novellas from three of my favorite authors is love! Taking the theme of a scarf, each author tied their characters into a story that is. Perfect novella for their any time I’d year really! I love,Love, LOVE it!

I absolutely love a great cozy mystery and this one hit the nail on the head. Another wonderful addition to the genre.
Christmas Scarf Murder is a delightful collection of three novellas. Each of the three authors brings us back to the lovely cast of characters that live in their cozy mysteries.
Each story is written by novelists of cozy mysteries so that the mysteries are rather tame and the characters well fleshed out.
The theme throughout the three is that of a Christmas Scarf. Clever!
A must read for the holidays. Take a break and enjoy!
Christmas Scarf Murder is s compilation of three fun, holiday themed cozy mysteries, by three of my favorite authors.
In the first story, Siobhan and her husband Macdara are preparing for the holidays, but an odd and tragic death have both of them trying find the perpetrator before Christmas Eve.
The second story features Robbi Jordan and her husband Abe, who are actively trying to find out a member of the local knitting group.

A strange murder takes place and Pam and Bettina can't help getting involved, enlisting the help of their knitting group friends.

Charming scarf Christmas cozies to delight in.
Christmas Scarf Murder was a fun easy read. I have read this series from the beginning and enjoy the characters that consist of the O'Sullivan family. Sioblan O'Sullivan is the main character and is a Garda. She and her husband Detective Sergeant Macdora Flannery are newlyweds who live in a farmhouse in the town of Kilbane, Ireland. Their are going to have their first Christmas holiday together along with her siblings.
Macdora gets a phone call about a robbery at the Kilbane Elder Care Home for the wealthy seniors. There were only five people who were staying at the home for Christmas. Sioblan and Maddora go to the home to find out what has happened.. The objects that were stolen were emeralds, money, a cane, a statue of the Virgin Mary and a very long Christmas scarf. They meet with Cathal Ryan the director of the home and Nancy Martin front office manager. There are 12 residents and 15 staff members. There are four teen volunteers, Shane Boyd, Michael Walsh with his dog, Max, Bonnie Murphy and Flynn Doyle whose grandmother lives at the home. She is the one whose emeralds were stolen. In looking into the robbery Sioblan and Macdora are told by the director that strange things had happened when they were at the Christmas Market the day before. This is where the story takes off with the killing of Michael Walsh who was on a tractor preparing for the annual tractor parade. The long scarf that was stolen was wrapped around his neck.. Michael was visiting from Monagham and was invited by Shane and Finn to come for a visit.
I don't want to ruin the story for the reader. so I will leave the surprising warm ending for them to enjoy.
Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Corp. for this ARC.
Christmas Scarf Murderby Carlene O'Connor; Maddie Day; Peggy Ehrhart is an excellent collection of three novellas with the overarching theme of the classic Christmas scarf. I just loved it.
I always read the books of three novellas that are themed that Kensington has published through the years. If they haven’t already included stories written by my favorite authors involving my favorite series, then they include someone new…and that is how I find new books to enjoy!
This book contains three cozy mystery stories that really got me into the holiday spirit:
Christmas Scarf Murder by Carlene O’Connor is a part of the amazing Irish Village Mystery series. I have read all 8 books and the previous novella. I just love this series amd highly recommend it. Especially for anyone that loves their cozy mysteries set in Ireland.
The Unfinished Scarf by Maddie Day is part of the wonderful Country Store Mystery series set in rural Indiana. I have also read all 10 books and previous novella. I just series and highly recommend it as well. The only negative is that you will definitely want pancakes or waffles after reading.
Death By Christmas Scarf by Peggy Ehrhart was a new one for me and part of the A Knit & Nibble Mystery series. I had been meaning to start this one, so this was a great jumping off point. I will now start with book One.
Highly recommend.
5/5 stars
Thank you NG and Kensington Publishing for this wonderful arc and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.
I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication on 9/27/22.
This felt as comfortable as, well, a soft, fuzzy Christmas scarf. The three novellas were by not just three authors I am familiar with but with characters that, as I read, were remembered and came back to life in my mind. This is a perfect read for lovers of cozy mysteries who might be short on time but want to partake of some virtual sleuthing as the holiday season arrives.
True, as novellas are wont to do, they seemed to be short and a bit contrived at the end but, well, but the endings were satisfactory and all made sense. I liked that Maddie Day, in particular, made a point to support other authors by mentioning Becky Clark's book featuring a crossword puzzle designer solving crimes. As it turned out, I am also familiar with that series, giving it more of the feeling of having come home.
But, never fear. Even if you've never read or heard of any of these authors, you'll enjoy the stories and characters. I won't detail them all except to note that in the blurb the Day story is called "The Unfinished Scarf" whereas in the actual digital version I received it was titled ""Scarfed Down". You'll love the down home country sayings in it, no matter what the title. Then there's the tractor parade in "Christmas Scarf" and heroic cats in "Death By Christmas Scarf", so lots to take in. So, grab this one when it's available, sit down in your favorite, comfy chair, and enjoy some virtual sleuthing with twinkling Christmas lights and carols playing. And, oh, if you knit, be sure to check out the instructions for what sounds like an adorable teddy bear at the end of "Death By Christmas Scarf" in addition to the recipes included with all. Enjoy!
Thanks to #NetGalley and #KensingtonBooks for helping get me in the Christmas mood. Now, if I just knew how to knit.....
I enjoyed the three stories in the book. All are imaginative and very much in the title theme. The characters are great. #ChristmasScarfMurder #NetGalley
