The books in this series are always such a treat to read. The epitome of the cozy British mystery with a sprawling country manor, silly mishaps with the servants, and a cast of recurring characters that have come to feel like old friends...and of course, a mystery to tie it all together. I really love how the author stays true to her characters and style while keeping the stories engaging and fresh. Some readers may be a put off as the main character is pregnant and imbibes alcohol. However, the author addresses this at the end of the novel as being a behavior that was quite typical of the times. This novel is set in Paris and features historical figures such as Coco Chanel and Wallace Simpson. For fans of the series or just readers who enjoy a good cozy mystery, I highly recommend this as your next read!
Another delightful romp with Lady Georgiana and Darcy. And lots of other familiar characters: friends Belinda & Zou Zou, Georgie's mother, and more. Tons of high society and high fashion hijinks and of course, a murder. Thanks to author, publisher and NetGalley for a review copy.
Thank you to NetGalley as well as the publisher and Rhys Bowen for allowing me to read an advance ebook in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book as much as all the others in this fabulous series! It is always such fun to start the next installment and reconnect with old (fictional) friends and find out what is going on in their lives!
In this book, we are taken to Paris in 1936 (well, you probably got that much from the title)! There are lots of fun cameos from various famous people from that period in Paris' history! Of course, there is a dead body and Georgie helps to find out what happened and why!
This book is a fun romp through a fictionalized tipping point in history with mounting tension both in the fictional plot line of Georgie's murder investigation, and also in the nonfiction plot line of Paris with the whispers of a possible war in the near future. Rhys Bowen does a seamless job of fitting the two together in this charming book! I highly recommend it!
This is such a delightful series continuing the story of Lady Georgie and Darcy. Darcy has a job in Paris so a pregnant Darcy decides to go and stay with a friend, then of course, there’s a mystery to solve. Great writing, and always fun.
Rhys Bowen does it again! Another fun and engaging read. Lady Georgie is so much fun to read about. The situations the character gets into are so relatable. The settings are always amazing for this series. I wish I could go back in time and visit them all. This book is a must read! I can't wait for the next Royal Spyness Book!
This is the first book that I have read in the Royal Spyness Series and I am delighted to have stumbled onto the book. Peril in Paris was really fun because of the setting - Paris, and the characters that show up - Mrs. Simpson and CoCo Chanel in particular.
Lady Ronnoch and her husband, Darcy, end up in Paris after a friend invites them to come. Lady Ronnoch is pregnant but off they go. She ends up solving a mystery. The time frame posits this book on the cusp of WWII and the imminent arrival of the Nazis.
I enjoyed all of the characters. It is a happy thing then that Lady Ronnoch has agency and is not held back from the world because of her pregnancy.
This book has lead me happily into this delightful cozy mystery
Another enjoyable outing with Georgie.

This series is always entertaining. The characters are always amusing, the locations glamorous and relationships interesting. The foreshadowing of WWII and the inclusion of prominent historical figures provides a contrast to the the high society indulgences and an awareness of the consequences of seemingly small actions.
