Glad I finally got around to reading this (better late than never, eh?)!
This was a fun little read! We start just about right away with diving into the action with a kickass MC (Jori) who has to juggle several major issues at the same time while fighting her feelings towards our lovable Perry. I enjoyed the two of them a lot along with the varied supporting characters. The plot was interesting and had quite an interesting twist once they had entered the Goblin kingdom, and the world building/magic system was quite fun, and I imagine would be even more fleshed out in the rest of the series.
The spice doesn't hit until later on in the book, but it's not overdone and felt believable. Overall, a really enjoyable quick read, and I do hope to read the other stories in the series at some point!
I definitely recommend reading the other connected books first. I feel like I was missing part of the story.
I'm normally not a fan of second chance romances, but this was done so well and I loved the chemistry between the two of them. I have never read a Goblin/Witch romance, especially where the FMC is the one that can transform into a goblin. There is a unique combination between the worlds/realms, but the lack of backstory is part of the reason I think reading the connected series would be helpful. There seemed to be a lot of information that I just was lacking.

Sadly, this book was not my cup of tea.
The story felt rushed and I found it hard to connect with the characters.
The romance between Vori and Perry felt like insta-love. Throw in the miscommunication trope - that I cannot stand - and you can get why I didn't love this book despite its potential and the intriguing premise.
I thought this book was okay. It was a pretty quick read and kept my attention. I liked the main characters for the most part, but felt like there were a lot of side characters. Some were named over and over, but we never really learned anything about them.
The amount of sub plots introduced in this book was a little overwhelming, especially when most of them don’t directly relate to the development of the actual plot. At times it felt like the point was just to set up multiple other books, not actually to focus on the plot of this book.
This was an okay read. Don’t get me wrong it delivered what it said it would but it was mid. I know me not having any info was one of the issues but this still had the potential to become a fav. I know some people will really enjoy this i just wasn’t one of them. I liked it I guess but i couldn’t fall in love with it, it didn’t helped that i read during my exams I guess so take with that what you will.
The paranormal fantasy stories are not what I usually read and this is the first book I have read by this author. I was given an ARC of this book, so I decided to give it a try. It took me a bit to get into the the story, I feel that I needed some more background into the paranormal world, but I found that after a while, I was really enjoying this genre. The characters were great and the storyline was interesting. It has secrets, twists and turns, a bit of information on the goblin world, and a steamy romance. Thank you City Owl Press and Luna Joya for the ARC. This is my voluntary review of the story.
This was a great book! The plot and the world building was so different and exciting! This is a great coming into your own and finding your true destiny story. There’s both action and romance. Not to mention an entire realm that must be saved! It was an easy read and difficult to put down. I highly recommend it!
This book was super fun to read! I didn’t expect so much action, but honestly it was so well paced and the transition from modern to fantasy was so cool to see.
Anytime there is fantasy court intrigue you just know stuffs about to go down! I loved the goblin court, I thought it was well written and the world built beautifully,
Vori and Perry were also adorable and I have always been a sucker for fake dating tropes! The forced proximity was delicious too. Even though our two main characters had more of that slow burn angst build up, the tension was palpable!
I would say if you love fantasy, court shenanigans, fake dating and angst this book if definitely for you!!

I’ll start off with things I absolutely loved about the book.
One, the hot supermodel turns into this badass green goblin, which is such a refreshing take on things. Usually it’s “the beauty and the beast” situation where the male turns into a monster, so I loved how this bold and beautiful model is the one that turns into a “monster”, and the male lead is kind of normal/“the beauty”. I love when the female leads are independent and don’t rely on men, so that was another great bonus. I also appreciated that Perry was a supportive “fake husband”, and really wanted the best outcome for her and her kingdom, and the blood vows — he did everything to protect her, even though he couldn’t really grasp control of his own powers.
However, I was disappointed buy how rushed it all felt and that there was no context given. Yes we understand that Perry left her one night, but I wish there would’ve been more context and development on that first before an immediate reunion. I had questions like “what happened on that night that made him run away”, basically yearning for more background info instead of jumping into them reconnecting. I would’ve loved a scene or a few flashback chapters where we could’ve gotten those background questions answered instead of wondering.
I also think there was a lot of unnecessary characters — Alexeis and Alys for one, mainly because Vori worried about her connection with her friends in her kingdom, but I didn’t get that at all. There were brief mentions of them before they crossed over to the kingdom, but they were non-existent the rest of the book so that plot line didn’t make sense to me.
Ultimately, I didn’t enjoy the book because of this. I think if there were edits made, plot holes made stronger, and the prologue scene/chapter to explain Vori and Perry’s history, I think I would’ve really liked this book.
I enjoyed reading this book for the most part. I did not read any of the books prior to this series (I did start after finishing this book). I liked Perry as the hero in this book, although now that i've read the other books, Perry was thouroughly unlikeable and crazy. I'm not sure how he went from that to a redeemable hero, but he did. Vori is a heroine with power, but throughout the book all I heard was whining about her becoming a monster like her father. I never really got the sense that she overcame that and embraced her Goblin heritage, in fact Perry was the one to really kill the villain. Very unsatisfying. I actually thought the 'kill the beast' portion of the prophecy was Vori 'killing' her misconceptions/fears of herself. Decent enough book.
3.5 stars.
Goblins and witches and wars of royalty - a true adventure awaits! Adding to the fun of one hurdle after another, we have our supermodel goblin (yea, that's something a bit out of the ordinary!) with her "acting" husband the gorgeous witch - blood vows to Baba Yaga (boy what can be worse?) and enough back/forth and quiet burn to really keep things humming. I thought it started a little slow, but boy it ramped up quickly and maintained the action to the end!
Great romance, unique characters, I mean the lead can shift into a goblin? That is a first for me! There was the bonus of action that kept me intrigued since it took me up until 30% to solidly get into the book.
A Goblin and Witch romance, that is really, and I add for emphasis, a first for me. I was hooked. What a brilliant twist to paranormal romance. Perfect enemies to lovers with the beautiful sprinkle of fake dating. Winning combination. Adding to the steamy and humor, I need book two, tomorrow.
As an avid fantasy reader, I read of a lot of magical beings and I have to say, Goblins are the least explored. I really enjoyed this jump and the way the author manages to portray the protagonist. The individual character traits of both protagonists are clearly depicted.
Vori is patient and determined to run away, and Perry is insolent, arrogant, and cute. They make a good couple.
**I received a copy of this book from City Owl Press and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions are my own and not solicited in any way. **
This book gave me the feeling of vampire diaries but for the grown folk. Its a great mix of supernatual elements and dark romace.
This book had such promise. The overall description of the plot sounded intriguing. And an MC who turns into a green, goblin princess is amazing. Unfortunately, the execution was lacking.
The entire book was rushed, so we weren’t able to get comfortable within the scenes or in the transitions. We would be told something would happen, then Bam! We’d be smack in the middle of the next scene. We would miss the entire transition, which left out important details and gave me whiplash.
A lot of information was given about certain things, but other weren’t fleshed out at all. We were told over and over again that she’s a supermodel and the main male character, Perry, ghosted her two years prior. *Side note: I never want to hear ‘ghosted’ again after reading this book* However, we only received snippets of either of these things despite the fact that they were repeated A LOT without much more detail.
So many details conflicted with each other, and others just went nowhere. For example, humans aren’t supposed to know about witches, but that seems to change from one chapter to the next. Then there were subplots involving Baba Yaga, her mother, Perry’s father that seemed peripheral and convoluted.
The romance between Vori and Perry didn’t really grab me. It felt like insta-love with manufactured trust issues and obvious miscommunication. I also didn’t feel the draw between them.
Last point: comparisons and allusions to Beauty and the Beast were rampant in the book. However, the references for who was Beauty and who was Beast changed from one page to the next. Even the villain was called a ‘beast.’ It ended up being annoying.
Fast paced and an engaging read.
Cute romance novel between a Goblin and a Witch. If paranormal romance is your thing you’ll surely enjoy this. I enjoyed the interactions between the main characters. Strong FMC.
Thank you Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op to read and review this book.
Wicked Crown is my first fantasy romance with a goblin. I like it. The unusual relationship between an exiled royal half goblin FMC and a witch will catch your attention. It’s not every time, we have that kind of romance. The FMC is bold, has no filter and its adoptive family makes us want to discover more about it.
You will find in this book:
Exiled Royalty
Royal Conspiracy
Interspecies relation
Prophecy
Mythical creatures
Revenge
I received this as an ARC, but my opinions are my own.
I struggled with this book. The pacing was really weird in the beginning. It felt too fast and it was quite predictable. The romance was cute and I did like the main characters. But I struggled with the writing and pacing.
I received an advanced reader's copy of Wicked Crown (The Wicked, Book 1) by Luna Joya from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Overall, I felt this was a solid romance novel and I found it to be well written. The plot was engaging and the pacing moved swiftly. I appreciated how nicely crafted the main characters were, and was amused at the antics of the secondary characters.
This novel was a bit predictable, but was a quick, fun read.
