When I initially picked up this book, I was looking for something to validate my feelings through those years and years of third-wheeling. I honestly wasn’t comfortable reading about what this main character was thinking during that time. It felt dishonest and it lacked good intentions. As someone who values friendship and communication, I totally couldn’t relate. Plus, as I went on, my suspicions of fat-phobia were confirmed which added to my discomfort throughout the reading experience. Some jokes were funny but overall, this was not for me.

The story was good and easy to read but not to that point that I felt like wow what a great book. It was more like an okey read which is sad because I have heard this author is really good so for me it was a loose 3 star read.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

Jake and Sy, best friends since grade school, struck it comfortable with their social media channel that reviews entertainment venues. Sy pushes for the big, daring ideas, while Jake's speciality is the video editing and production. Their influence stays solidly in the comfort zone, until Sy gets the idea to try to widen their audience by adding a female. After days of auditions, they find Helena. Jake isn't entirely onboard with adding a third, but Sy acts as the idea man, so Jake goes along with it as he usually does. Soon, Sy and Helena begin hooking up and Jake is odd man out. Jake's jealousy gets the best of him and he begins to plan harmless sabotage of Helena and Sy's relationship. Of course, his jealousy is uncovered, but is Helena all Sy thinks she is?

Definitely for fans for British fiction, Spalding's main characters, like Jake, tend to be the "nice guy next door" type who find themselves in everyday minor drama. Jake was lovable and it was hard not to feel sorry for him even when you want to shriek at him to stand up for himself and to stop being a pushover. This book (and all of Spaldings) are great beach reads!

The best I can say is that I felt this book on a deeper level lol. Relatable in a refreshing way and would recommend to a friend! 4/5 stars.

Jake and Sy’s bromance takes a comedic yet tumultuous turn when a new addition, Helena, spices things up by sparking a romance with Sy. Suddenly, Jake's left as the odd wheel, causing a whirlwind of jealousy and chaotic pranks.

What struck me most was the storytelling style - the witty humor and subtle quips sprinkled throughout. The author masterfully weaves sarcasm into the narrative, making the tale a delightful and quick read. The vivid descriptions of their influencer escapades added a vibrant touch to the storyline.

Overall, it's a fun and enjoyable read with a side of chaotic friendship dynamics. The humor was a highlight, and I found myself chuckling at the characters’ antics. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more from this author.

Kudos to NetGalley for providing an eArc in exchange for a review!

Jake and Sy are best friends and it’s always been the two of them for a long time. However when they hire Helena to join their influencer channel, Sy and Helena suddenly begin a new romance. Jake then becomes the third wheel and jealousy and pranks start to get involved and become chaotic and cause issues.

I love the humorous way that this story is told especially the sarcasm and hidden jokes in the story. I also loved the descriptions of the activities that the characters done throughout the book for their influencer channel.

Over all this was a funny and quick read and I really enjoyed it. I will definitely be looking to read more from this author.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
I have read and enjoyed other books by this author, and this one was no exception despite the strong language used in everyday conversation and thoughts. There are many laugh-out-loud moments but the underlying message of working at relationships and being true to oneself hold value for everyone. I thought Jake's behaviour was completely realistic, and the translation / foreign language class had me in stitches! Brilliantly funny and thought-provoking, I enjoyed every page.

I’d love to interview Nick for my podcast on Third Wheel. It was fun to finally read a romance book about what it’s like being a third wheel. It started off slow, but it picks up.

Nick Spalding is a very funny man! I love his books, especially when I'm looking for a good belly laugh. Third Wheel was full of his usual wit and laughs. I enjoyed the story line and how it panned out. Very enjoyable and I'm looking forward to his next book.

For me that is @nick.spalding, so this has been a wonderful read!

A truly laugh out loud and fun comedy, that also has a lot of heart. Jake, Sy and even Helena are all likeable characters and it was great to see how their story develops. It reminded me of when my bestie got a boyfriend & I remember those feelings of change and 'third wheeling' very well.

I was of course, rooting for Jake & hoping to see him come to terms with the change in his life and make the most of them. There are definitely bumps along the way, but most of them had me roaring with laughter, though some had me on the edge of my seat!

Overall, this is a wonderful novel about the importance of friendship and the very human way in which we all react, usually very badly, to change! I loved the way it all worked out in the end!

It wasn’t the worst but it wasn't for me. A lot of times, it felt like the main character just couldn't stop rambling and I had a hard time staying drawn to the story. Like, please get back to the scene. I think it would be better if tightened up and put in a film format. If you’ve watched and liked Saving Silverman (2001) then you might enjoy this. They have a similar vibe.

I'm a massive fan of Nick Spalding's books and once again he knocks it out of the park with this novel.

It's funny, it's zany, it's real and I loved the whole concept of Jake and Sy being experience day reviewers and influencers.

It meant they get to regularly experience things that most people would probably never dream of doing, from the exhilarating to the much more sedate, each carrying so it seems a risk of injury or embarrassment (both of which are good for viewer counts!).

I loved reading about all the various experiences, and would be highly curious to know just how many the author took part in himself in the name of research, or if it was just good old fashioned looking things up, as the accounts especially when things don't quite go according to plan are highly detailed and amusing.

From hot air ballooning, escape rooms, cuddle therapy, supercar driving day and a whole lot more, there are plenty of wacky events going on in this book.

Which are technically he backdrop to a new person entering Jake and Sy's world and Helena making Jake into a third wheel in all senses.

It's a look at male friendship and whether it can overcome a woman entering into it.

I just loved every second of it (give or take a couple of vividly disgusting descriptions that made me feel a bit ill), and once again this author has had me greatly amused and entertained from cover to cover.
