Sheriff Bree Taggert is back. There's a killer in town and his target is young men. They all have a connection to a dating app, so there's a wide suspect list. If Bree and Matt can't figure out who the killer is fast, the killer's next victim could hit a little too close to home.

This was another good book in the series, and while it probably wasn't my favorite one, it was a good addition to the series. It didn't have me turning the pages quite as fast as the others. Thanks, NetGalley and Montlake for the ARC.

Melinda Leigh's 'Lie To Her' is a gripping thriller that had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The danger of the internet dating scene is vividly portrayed as Bree Taggert, a determined detective, navigates her way through a list of suspects that only grows longer with each turn of the page. As the killer's rage escalates, Leigh ratchets up the tension and delivers a shocking twist that will keep readers guessing until the very end. The personal and deadly warning left for Bree adds an extra layer of danger that had me holding my breath. This book is a must-read for anyone who loves a heart-pounding mystery that keeps you guessing until the last page."

Thank you to NetGalley for providing a free copy in exchange of an honest review. This book is the sixth book in a series but can be read as a standalone. It’s a fast-paced suspense thriller with a dash of mystery. The story definitely draws you in and you can’t stop reading.

This was a crazy plot with good pacing. While I like Bree and Matt, I really enjoyed that we are seeing more of Todd and Juarez, as well as the other family members. And there are horses! That mostly offsets some of the icky creatures included in this installment of the series! I'm sure I'll pick up the next one. Anyone reading this series will enjoy this one.

I take books sometimes for series I've not read yet. It's a gamble. Lie to Her proved to be one of those I could read and follow along well without having read the previous books. There were times I'm was certain I would understand a character or the situation better had a read the series but they weren't important enough to hinder my enjoyment of this book. I found the story interesting, intriguing and in ways touching.

Bree Taggert is dedicated and competent. Though she loves her family and her time with them, she works incredibly hard especially on this latest case. Murders in her area are rare but she's got plenty of prior experience to know the ropes. As she's working hard to put the pieces together another body shows up. Now she's got a potential serial killer. She must sort through several possible suspects, lies, truths, all the angles of any crime. She's got her man, Matt Flynn, at her side throughout and the two are so good together. He's respectful and not threatened by her leading the case. He's also a very good cop. The two are even better together off duty but we see little of that since they're working long hours.

I love the time they are with her family and their horse purchases! This is where I'm sure if I knew more of the backstory I'd be even more enchanted by everyone.

The case heats up, it's fast paced and not easy to figure out even for this reader. There was a good mix of suspense, person relationships and surprises to keep me very interested.

Thanks to the publisher, the author and NetGalley for the ARC.

In the sixth installment of the Bree Taggert series, Bree is faced with a string of murders that seem to be connected to online dating. As the crimes escalate, Bree is forced to think fast in order to get a step ahead of the killer.

At this point the series can do no wrong, and while it might not be my favorite book it was a solid read to end out my year. I really enjoy watching Bree and Matt grow in their relationship and seeing all of the side characters each book. I am so glad that there are multiple books still planned for this series because I am not ready for it to be over.

The story of Bree Taggart who is the sheriff in a town upstate NY. Bree and her team are perplexed by the murder of Spencer LaForge and do their best to gather evidence until one day later another man is murdered the same way. Do they have a serial killer on their hands? Who is targeting these men and will there be more?

Lie to Her is the 6th book in a series by Melinda Leigh, an author I simply adore. Bree Taggert is Sheriff of Randolph County, New York. The plot, as always, is a great suspenseful mystery that keeps me guessing till the end. As with Melinda Leigh's other novels, this one offers a complete package - a complex storyline, characters' backstories, and a wonderful writing style that is straightforward and easy to read. I really enjoy slipping within the pages of her books and getting behind a tough, but intelligent main player like Bree Taggert. This novel was a fantastic, solid mystery and I continued to warm to both Bree and Matt. It was well-told and it had me glued to the pages as I was desperate to know the outcome of the story. With some misdirection the compelling plot was brilliantly executed, the well-defined characters and underlying currents being the main highlights, all building up to a suspenseful ending. I love a good murder mystery with a hint of romance, and this one definitely didn't let me down. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Montlake Romance via NetGalley and this review is my own unbiased opinion.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lie to Her by Melinda Leigh
This is the 6th book in this series.
Sheriff Bre Taggert and Criminal investigator Matt Flynn have a serial killer on the loose. All they know so far is a stun gun is used from up close and then their heads are wrapped in cling wrap.
As they begin to investigate they realize that a dating site is the common element.
This one hits close to home for Bree when the killer leaves a message about her brother.
Having buried
her sister less than a year before Bree is on a mission to keep him from harm.

Love this series more with each new installment! This was probably one of the more twisted stories of the series. The suspense was grabs you and doesn't let go. The twists were so out of the norm, they were amazing. The whole book is wonderful! I cannot wait for the next one

Thank you to NetGalley, Melinda Leigh, and Montlake for this ARC of Lie to Her in exchange for an honest review!!

Description:
Lie to Her is the 6th book in the Bree Taggert series, but can definitely be read as a standalone. Sheriff Bree Taggert and investigator Matt Flynn are investing the brutal murder of Spencer LaForge. Spencer's brutal murder included zip ties, plastic wrap, and a stun gun. The next day, another victim is found with the same manner of death. Bree and Matt go down a rabbit hole of lies, exotic animals, dating sites, a possible serial killer, threats from the killer, and vengeful women to find out the truth.
Review:
I will start off this review by saying that I have not read the other books in the series and I completely understood what was happening in this book. I never felt lost or as if I was missing anything, so this can definitely be read as a standalone. However, I do think that if you have read the books prior to Lie to Her, you would have a deeper understanding and connection to the characters.
Personally, I love a good "who done it" mystery. Lie to Her hooked me right from the start, which is often the case in these types of books. I felt like a detective trying to put the pieces together before the book was finished. It felt like an episode of NCIS, which I devoured!
I also loved the eerie killer POV chapters sprinkled throughout the book. I love when authors do this so that I can get into the mind of the killer. I was pleasantly surprised that I did not guess the killer correctly which is always nice especially after reading so many mystery/thriller type books.
I will say that my only flaw with this book was the repetition of, "Bree said" and Mr. Northcott's name (46 times within a few chapters). Other than that flaw, I absolutely loved this book and will definitely be picking up the other books in the series.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

I’ll start by saying that I haven’t read the first five books in this series. I could tell that there was so much more information that had already happened in previous books but I didn’t ever feel lost or confused. I was able to quickly get a sense of the characters and their relationships to each other and really enjoyed the story! While I’m not the biggest fan of police procedurals, the writing kept me interested and the mystery behind the killer’s identity kept me glued to the book! I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes thrillers, mystery, and suspense. It also might be better to start with the first book in the series.

As Christmas nears and Bree is worried how her nephew and niece are going to deal with their first holiday without their parents, she and Matt get the call to a new weird murder scene and it looks like a ‘woman scorned’ might be a lethal if old adage. Melinda Leigh is a gifted romantic suspense author who continues to deliver each and every new release.

Lie to her is the sixth of the Bree Taggert romantic suspense series. The relationships between Bree and Matt and their extended family and friends makes this a good series to read in order even if each book presents a new and twisting murder mystery to solve.

Blending home life and new career where Bree has moved from being a big city cop to a country small town sheriff to care for her murdered sister’s children on their home farm and striking up a relationship with Matt, a former K-9 Sheriff’s deputy turned sheriff’s department contracted investigator, Bree and Matt along with Todd and the rest of the department are confronted with a baffling crime and a clever well-planned killer.

The reader knows a little more than the investigating team because the opening chapter and a few along the way are from the killer’s point of view. For instance, the victim in the first chapter is a guy who lies to the women he dates through a dating app about his job and pretends to want a relationship only to get into the women’s panties before he ‘catch and releases’ to keep playing the field. He meets a gruesome end from someone set on revenge. Bree and Matt work out that the guy being a player is a strong motive, but then so is expensive illegal reptiles that are found to be involved.

This time, the case gets close to home for Bree and she needs to solve the case to save someone close to her because the killer has decided to kill two birds with one stone when revenge against a list of certain people includes payback to a sheriff who is getting too close to the truth.

I enjoy how these stories blend a good personal story for Bree and Matt including their relationship and time with the family along with a smart police procedural murder mystery. The series is connected to earlier Scarlett Falls and Morgan Dane series, but can be read alone featuring a gutsy, but smart woman cop and her dedicated, respectful and equally smart partner who also happens to be her love interest. Romantic suspense fans really need to slip this book/series onto their stacks.

Melinda Leigh is hands done one of my top 10 authors of all times. The mysteries are interesting keeping wondering what will happen next. What I think Melinda Leigh excels at is her ability create characters readers are able to connect and cheer for. Lie to me is a can't miss addition to the Bree Taggert series.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Author for a advance copy of Lie to Me!

I’ve really been enjoying the Bree Taggert series from Melinda Leigh - I’m normally a romance reader but do love to pick up some detective thrillers now and then, with Leigh being a go-to top author choice of mine. She really knows how to write a mystery and thriller, and her characters, especially Bree and Matt, are just so lovable!

Lie To Her was quite the extreme thriller, right from page one, and the huge mystery keeps you guessing the whole way through. I know the clues she kept dropping definitely led me astray, to the character she was trying to lead us to believing was the serial killer the whole way, and then with so many twists and turns we kept second guessing if we were right or if perhaps we hadn’t been introduced to the real suspect yet. Brilliant writing, clues abound and I loved how the reptiles were tossed in there too - a big fear of mine!

I definitely recommend this for thriller lovers, or anyone like me who’s looking for something fantastic outside their usual genre that is just really darn good. No need to read the previous books in the series as it holds up as a standalone (though knowing Bree’s backstory is a bit helpful, it’s not as critical for this book as the previous ones).

I received an advance review copy from NetGalley and Montlake, and this is my honest feedback.

Another great thriller from one of my favourite authors! I always recommend starting the series from the beginning to understand the background and appreciate the character development, but you can read and enjoy the book as a standalone as well. As usual, the pace is perfect and there is plenty of action to remind the reader why this series is so popular.

This is a wonderful series and I love seeing how Bree has built a new life from the rubble of her past. These are stories of mystery, for sure, but also of the resilience of the human spirit and how the love of family and friends can indeed heal all wounds.

Sheriff Bree Taggert is facing Christmas and soon after the first anniversary of her sister's death. She feels the loss every day and knows that her niece and nephew do too. She has done everything possible to repair the damage that their mother's death has brought, but is it enough? Is she enough?

Now Bree must shift focus and concentrate on murder. The body of a digital marketer is found in his backyard by his date. It soon becomes known that the handsome man was a player and serial internet dater, never staying with one woman for long. Motive for murder or just the actions of a douchebag?

Then another body is discovered. Same MO and the same dating practices. Someone is venting their rage on these men and Bree and Matt have to decide who is lying and discover the true motive behind the murders.

My thanks to Montlake, Publisher, and Melinda Leigh, author, for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.

One of my favorite series which highlights the blending of career and personal life for Sheriff Bree Taggert. An especially bizarre murder for Bree and her partner, Matt Flynn. Matt is a criminal investigator and also Bree’s partner in life. She is torn between the investigation and spending time with her niece and nephew as this is their first Christmas since her sister was murdered. She is able to concentrate on finding the killer as her former law enforcement partner, Dana, now lives with the family. This murder was particularly brutal and seems to be connected to the use of a popular online dating app. Police procedure is followed as they slowly collect evidence of why someone wanted the man dead. As Bree uses the full resources of her small department, another body is found killed in the same manner. When she realizes that a member of her family may be the next target, this becomes personal. Will she be able to stop the killer before her family is torn apart once again? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

I was first introduced to this character in the Widow’s Island series and I was instantly taken with her. Bree’s background is troubled and she’s a complicated heroine that’s tough as nails but with a heart that’s learning how to expand and open itself up to so much more. I went into this book thinking it was going to be a shorter story such as the ones previously. I was thrilled to find out that this was a much deeper story with a strong mystery and a variety of characters that may or may not be the “bad guy”.

This was a fast paced read that never slowed down. The romance skirts just at the edges of everything else that is happening and I love those snippets so much. Bree’s family has wormed its way into my heart and the mystery kept me guessing. I appreciated that once the author revealed who the villain was, the story didn’t quickly wrap up. There was so much more going on and I was on the edge of my seat through it all.
