Hm. Unfortunately, this was a let down for me. I just didn’t really connect with the book and found it difficult to follow along and keep the story line straight. I think this could have benefitted from additional editing before publication.
"The chilling story of two conflicted sisters, their murdered brother, and the secrets a family hoped they’d never have to face."
The engagement was real and instant folks.
No Home for Killers, is a must read for thriller lovers far and wide. Gripping, haunting, and memorable. This is the kind of book you will think about long after concluding.
Check out this teaser:
The murder of jazz musician and social activist Markus Peña doesn’t come as a surprise to his estranged sisters. Melinda and Emily Peña know their controversial brother had enemies. After all, even they hadn’t spoken to Markus since their mother’s funeral two years ago.
Who killed Markus? Was it someone trying to keep his latest protest song from publication? Was it the powerful and secretive uncle of his ex-girlfriend Rebecca? Or was it one of the other women Markus had callously abandoned?
To unravel the truth, Melinda and Emily must first face their own demons. Melinda, a former social worker, suffers from PTSD—haunted by the people she failed to help and unable to maintain meaningful relationships. Emily also pushes people away—afraid she’ll get hurt and afraid they’ll find out she’s Three Strikes: a masked vigilante who violently punishes abusive men.
Markus wasn’t a good man, but he was family. And it’s up to his sisters to uncover his lifetime of lies and the truth of his death.
Unfortunately I just could not get into this story and I can’t quite put my finger on what it was about it. Bit of a miss for me.
This one was a challenge. Hard to follow, so many characters, and jumped around alot. I enjoyed the plot line and thought it had potential to be something greater than it was.
I really could not vibe with the style of writing in this book. The implausibility of the plot kept me from truly connecting with the characters. The big twist at the end also didn't fit
3 stars- i liked this one! the pacing felt a bit off but perhaps it was just me that felt that way. thanks netgalley & the publisher for the ARC, in exchange for an honest review!
Interesting and well written I just personally couldn’t get into the story. Difficult to follow at times and a little slow. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book is a delight from start to finish - by turns funny, poignant, and action-packed. Twists and turns to keep us guessing the whole way. Aymar is a master storyteller, delivering fascinating characters in a realistic setting. Make a home on your shelves for this one!
It had been two years since the three siblings, Marcus, Melinda and Emily spoke. Their mother's death had led to the separation. Out of the blue, a stranger told Melinda that Marcus was dead. Marcus was a famous singer and made a lot of enemies. As far as she remembers, he was a manipulative womanizer and abuser. While Emily is a different story. She is the masked vigilante who helps victims of forced prostitution and sex trafficking that might be linked to the Winters family. Rebecca Winters, Marcus's ex believes that her uncle had killed Markus.
I particularly love Emily's. I found her to be refreshingly bold and lived life on her terms despite her other siblings' poor character. The story is simple but it just lacked the flair with some repetitive and slow pacing.
Thanks to @netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for earc. Opinions are my own.

Pfff this one was a doozy
No Home For Killers follows sisters Melinda and Emily as they try to uncover who killed their brother, famous musician Markus.
Let’s just start off by saying that the pacing could use some work, nothing happened in the first 50 percent, then things started to pick up and shit all went down in the last 20%.
No character was likable, Emily was weird, and has a weird obsession with what she sees as ‘justice’ and Melinda was just wallowing in self pity. And these were the ‘good guys’.
And let’s not forget the fact that people kept making Melinda the villain when it comes to quitting her social work job for completely valid reasons, not an ounce of compassion in sight.
The twist at the end was what made me lower my rating even more, it came completely out of left field. There was no foreshadowing (even parts where you’d say ‘ah makes sense’ looking at it in retrospect) and it was just all around unbelievable.
Tbh I want my time back I spent reading this

Family, sometimes it's better to cut ties than reconnect. Markus is a famous singer/song writer and he's been murdered. Emily and Melinda, his two sisters, have been estranged from both him and each other since their mother's death and their afternoon of telling truths and their fight.
What a twisted story this was. I enjoyed getting to know Melinda and Emily and how they each had their motivations, experiences and goals. Each of them had responded to Markus' fame differently and how their childhood with him had affected them. I liked the different paths this story too and how I was swept up in the audiobook narrator and all the turns the story took. I didn't anticipate the ending, even if I should have, but I enjoyed the journey. It held my attention and kept me guessing. Another well-done story by this author.
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.
I couldn't get past the first chapter. The characters were annoying and I just didn't care about the story.
I felt this book was more thriller (psychological) than a mystery and halfway through the book I definitely was hooked.
Lots of trigger warnings and violence so keep that in mind, but I finished this book feeling mildly unsettled but in a good way (if that makes any sense?)
The book was a good thriller. I enjoyed the book but not one of my favorites. The story of two conflicted sisters, their murdered brother, and lots of secrets. The family hoped they would never have to face all of the secrets. The book shows tragedies can tear a family apart but can also bring them back together again.

Melinda and Emily Peña were not surprised when their social activist, jazz musician brother Markus Peña is murdered. They know their controversial brother had enemies. After all, even they hadn’t spoken to Markus since their mother’s funeral two years ago.
But who killed Markus, could it have been someone trying to stop his latest song from being published? Was it the powerful and secretive uncle of his ex-girlfriend Rebecca? Or was it one of the other women Markus had callously abandoned?
In order to ravel the truth Melinda and Emily must first face their own demons. Melinda, a former social worker, suffers from PTSD haunted by the people she failed to help and unable to maintain meaningful relationships. Emily also has a problem pushing people away afraid she’ll get hurt and afraid they’ll find out she’s Three Strikes: a masked vigilante who violently punishes abusive men.
Markus wasn’t a good man, but he was family. And it’s up to his sisters to uncover his lifetime of lies and the truth of his death.
I give No Home foe Killers four out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
No Home For Killers by E.A. Aymar is a thrilling and suspenseful novel that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The characters are well-developed and complex, with hidden motivations and secrets that are slowly revealed throughout the story. The plot is full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. Aymar's writing style is engaging and fast-paced, making this a page-turner that I couldn't put down. Overall, No Home For Killers is a must-read for fans of suspense and crime fiction.

I expected a lot more from this book due to the fact I saw it everywhere, it was definitely promoted well. However, It felt like the author had a fantastic outline for a story and had to fill it with fluff to fill a page count. There were scenes that still don't make sense to me as it didn't really contribute to the story at all. The first half of the book was very slow with a ton of work on characters that I still didn't like very much. And then the last half things sped up, everything seemed to happen at once and the ending left me very unsatisfied. I think that if the content was reduced to what was relevant to the story and we had more suspense leading up to the end it would have been more fulfilling. At one point I found myself forced to finish it. The suspense was gone, totally disappeared, then you are hit with a surprise ending and after that the book just ended, no real conclusion, no idea what will change and very aware that no lesson was learned. I gave the book 3 stars because the bones of the story are good, it just wasn't executed well.

This wasn’t the book for me. There was no real background for any of the characters or their relationships with each other. It was very slow and seemed to focus more on Emily and Melinda than Marcus’s murder. It was just boring. Emily’s role felt a little far fetched…a citizen vigilante? Although if I had any part of it I liked it would be Emily’s sense of humor. I skimmed it by the end just to get through it.

Interesting story of 3 siblings leading very different lives. One sibling is dead, one is trying to move away from her family and the other is on a mission to right the wrongs.
An unrelenting and persistent unresolved drama lurks on every page of this rather violent, often funny, always unpredictable story of a dysfunctional family - and I loved every page. We are taken on an unforgettable journey through the lives of two sisters touched by murder and we never quite know where this novel will take us. Beautifully written and the plot is executed with style and nerve.
