Holy cow I powered through this book! So good! Alex and her mom move to Florida to start over after her father dies in a car accident. Her mom is befriended by the mean moms, while Alex is immediately bullied by the mean girls. Goes to show that eventually you will be held accountable for your actions. Great book!

After losing a husband/dad in a tragic accident, mother/daughter duo, Kate and Alex move from Buffalo to Florida looking for a fresh start. Kate befriends 3 moms and Alex meets their 3 teenage daughters. Then the nightmare begins.

This is Lifetime movie meets 48 Hours, meets “Mean Girls”! I could not put this down! I know people always say that in their reviews, so cliche, right? But I really could not put this down. I never give 5 star ratings. I mean barely. You have to knock me out of my seat with a great plot twist or keep me glued to the pages! Cue the one and only Margot Hunt.

I have never read one of Hunt’s novels before, but now I can’t wait to get my hands on more! This was such an easy read. I loved the character development. I loved the mom Kate and could totally relate to her growing frustration with raising a teenager. There were so many times I wanted to shake Alex or give my own 2 cents to the uppity moms and their “mean girl” daughters. And I can definitely say I didn’t see the little twist at the end coming, which made for a nice surprise!

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I loved this one! This covers high school drama, murder, friendships, mother/daughter relationships…. Has a little big of everything.

Reminds me a bit of Pretty Little Liars mixed with some Karin Slaughter type novels.

I read this in 24 hours because I just needed to know what happened!!

Thank you NetGalley and the publishing team for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

You pack up and move yours and your daughters whole life from one bad situation and you fall into another worst situation.
This is what happens with Kate and her daughter Alex when they move into a small town in Florida. What is suppose to be a fresh start for both of them, turns into Alex getting bullied and worse, another death occurs for this family.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I could not put it down when I started! Lovely Girls is by no means a description of the set of girls that this book partially focuses on. The trio of Daphne, Shae, and Callie can be better described at Mean Girls but 100 times worse. The mother of the girls are also just as brutal and Kate and Alex get caught up in the drama.
I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next, what Alex was going to see and say to the group of girls. Kate is like every mother dealing with a growing teenager and I really sympathized with her.
I think the author did a really good job keeping the reader guessing what was going to happen next and how the whole case was going to play out.
Overall I give it a 4/5 stars and I completely recommend this book!

Kate and and her daughter Alex, move to Florida after the death of her husband. Kate is hoping this will be a nice fresh start for them. Alex meets a group of girls, on the tennis team, which she wants to join and they are anything but nice to her. Kate meets their mothers and becomes friendly with them all. What can wrong? Well, just about everything!

This was a really great book. It reminded me of the drama from shows like Beverly Hill 90210 and Pretty Little Liars. There is plenty of drama and backstabbing, and I was here for all for it! I have read all of Margot Hunt's novels and I will say LOVELY GIRLS is at the top of my list.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Whew. This book was a rollercoaster of a ride, in the best way possible. The book opens up with a teenage girl found naked and dead on a beach. But then we head back to the beginning, and we don’t know who it is on that beach.

Alex is just getting ready to start her senior year in high school, and her mom moved them all the way down the east coast to Florida. Her mom immediately found new friends, but Alex does not get along with their daughters. They are bullies, and have been raised that way. The standard “mean girl” clique raising their own mean girls. We are drawn along and can never quite get a bead on who it is that died. It could be any of them. Halfway through, the victim is identified, but the killer is not.

High school h3ll, and Alex’s mom was only trying to get them a fresh start after Alex’s dad died.

Great book, great characters and great author. I enjoyed this book and the plot. Look forward to reading more from Margot Hunt.

This was a fast-paced and engaging read, and I liked that the dual-perspective structure of the book gave the perspective of both main characters (widowed single mom Kate and her traumatized, distant daughter Alex). That structure allows the reader to see the ways each character is misunderstanding situations and making things worse, which can be really frustrating but also helps increase the tension.

Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the opportunity to read this book!

This book reveals the seamy underside of perfection. Alex and her mother Kate move to the seemingly perfect beach town of Shoreham to escape from a tragedy. Kate feels immediately welcome but Alex does not have the same experience. Alex becomes isolated and her only solace is in recording a video diary. In doing so she uncovers the caustic edges that the perfect families in town often hide. This causes a group of girls to attack with pack like ferocity bullying. It was disconcerting to read and I wish that Alex was not so naive, but overall this was a great story.

I love it when I end up enjoying a story more than I anticipated I would!

This is my first Margot Hunt book. I like her writing. It's easy to read and follow along with.

The story has Kate, a newly widowed mother and her teenaged daughter, Alex who have recently moved from their home in Buffalo, NY to the little oceanside community of Shoreham, Florida. Alex is traumatized from her Father's recent death and Kate hopes to make a fresh start.

Alex meets 3 girls by accident who attend her new high school. Things do not go well from the start. Meanwhile, Kate meets their Moms and seems to hit it off with them.

All is not what it seems.

I got swept up in this story. I found it pretty realistic to how some teenagers and parents interact. It gives off, "Mean Girls" vibes only this is not a funny story. This one is dramatic and kept my interest all throughout.

What's worse than being 17, having just lost your father, and moving to a new town ruled by a pack of mean girls? When their mothers are even worse. Yep, that's the predicament Alex and her mother, Kate, seem to have gotten themselves into after they relocate to the beachside town of Shoreham, Florida, where all is not as sunny as it seems.

I raced through this book and loved the alternate perspectives of mother and daughter. However, I definitely wanted to give Alex a good shake more than once, knowing she could put an end to all of this if she'd just tell the truth. Overall, I enjoyed it and found it to be the perfect summer read.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Obsessed doesn’t even cover it. Margot Hunt is the queen of thrillers and suspense. This book was my favorite trope, aka ‘rich people behaving badly’. These characters were a hot mess in the best way possible. Another hit from Hunt!

Kate and her teenage daughter Alex are relocating to Shoreham, Florida eager to start a new life. The town seems like the perfect place for them, away from the pain and speculation that Kate’s husband’s accidental death produced. Soon enough, Kate befriends three mothers whose daughters turn out to be bullies, a fact that Alex becomes too aware of before setting foot at their school. As days and weeks go by, Kate is also touched by the mean side of her supposed friends and decides to confront them, ultimately facing the dangers lurking behind the mean girl demeanor of both mothers and daughters.

This is a fast-paced, light, page turner. The plot is engaging, and the premise is interesting and relevant, as the author touches on the themes of bullying, manipulation, and the related influence and reach of social media. However, the characters lacked a depth that could have made for a more compelling story. Furthermore, certain things were hinted at that were not resolved, and the ending did not feel like a conclusion at all. Also, I became aware of a discrepancy and of some grammatical errors in the text. Despite this, I could not put this book down, wanting to find out whether any of my predictions were correct (some things I saw coming right away, others I did not). The dual points of view kept my interest going, especially Alex’s video diaries and the overall sense of danger that they communicated. Although this book was not a great fit for me, it is an enjoyable read and I am sure it will appeal to people interested in light reads featuring themes of teenage mean girls’ cliques, manipulation, bullying, and the use of social media to harass individuals.

I loved this book! Just the right amount of characters. The author created each person perfectly. I've all ready suggested this book to my friends. I have a feeling people will be talking about this story.

Lovely Girls, my butt!! Perhaps on the outside but “it’s what’s on the inside that counts” has never rang more true than within this book. And the mothers!! I can’t imagine parents that desire to “raise a bully” but the mothers in this book actually did. I understand wanting to raise strong children, girls especially, but this book goes to show that almost anything can be made wrong when taken to the extreme. But it’s an exciting, escapist read you will enjoy devouring 😊

Lovely Girls by Margot Hunt is a great fast paced book. I really enjoyed reading this book, and I read it all in one sitting. Highly recommend

This was a very well-written quick paced thriller. After reading it, I have a silent thank you to my higher power that he had not felt the need to bless me with a teenage daughter, because if this book is any indication, I am in no way capable of handling all the drama & stress one brings. The main character is sympathetic and is trying to rebuild her own life while raising a teenager. Let's just say she isn't very successful in one of those parts. I was surprised by the twist at the end, And left feeling very satisfied.

Wow! This is a page turner that I devoured in one sitting.

Margot Hunt does an amazing job at writing a fast paced, realistic mystery that will have you hooked from the very beginning. Just when you think you have learned all there is to know, she hits you with a surprise at the very end. I especially love the way she formatted Alex's story using a video blog to describe the events as they unfolded. Kept the story very interesting.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC!!

Loved the switching perspectives between the mom, Kate, and daughter, Alex, through video diary transcript. The idea of being bullied in a new, picturesque town is definitely relatable. This was a page turner for sure- quick read that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

This was my first time reading a book by Margot Hunt. I was immediately pulled in and before I knew it I was at 20%! I read this book very fast. It was extremely entertaining with a storyline that is very parents worst fear. I liked the alternative POV’s between Alex and Kate, and I enjoyed the scenes with Genevieve. I liked the pacing of the book, it was an easy book to follow with characters that were all unreliable so everyone was a huge question mark. I definitely look forward to more books from Margot Hunt in the future!
