Look at this cover! As a huge fan of this trope how can i not be interested in it the second i saw it. He was really hot as well as sweet. She was quite hilarious and smart. They had insane chemistry. I loved how things turned out for them. and overall it delivered what it said it would so check it out for fun time! 3.5/5
The idea of this book was more pleasurable than the execution of it. Everything was just a bit too extreme for me. Anya's intense coldness, the emphasis on their age difference, it wasn't a story I felt I could settle in and enjoy. It felt like Owen and I were both fighting with Anya to just be a little less...her.
Would recommend for those who have read the first books in the series first!
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a digital copy. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This one was super cute. A little bit hard to connect to the characters, but I wanted to see their relationship through. I liked the dual POV and that both characters were pining for each other. Thanks Netgally and publisher for the early arc!
I throughly enjoyed this novel. In fact, it’s one of the few lately that has held my attention throughout the entire story. While I could see a few things coming, I never felt like rushing though it. I would definitely recommend it to friends.
I actually didn't finish this book. The main character was annoying (sorry!) and I could not get into the story. This was not for me, unfortunately.
I do appreciate the opportunity to read and review. Thank you to Netgalley and thr publisher.
the last one is the 4th book in a series which I have not read.
Nonetheless this is how I felt about this book (without the background knowledge of other characters)
I felt like I couldn’t connect to any of the characters since we were sort of thrown head first into an already built world. I liked this book but also hated the main character for like 90% of the book. Owen was a good love interest but it felt like he wasn’t developed as well and he never really changed throughout the book.
Overall this is a cute small town romance but I would definitely recommend reading the rest of the series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e arc of this book!
Super cute book - was pulled in by the blurb mentioning firefighters and accidental pregnancy. It was a sweet and easy read
This was a fun, dual POV, mutual pining romance. Perfect for fans of Jen Morris or Susannah Nix. The cover is adorable and who doesn't love a good firefighter love story! Much thanks to NetGalley and the author for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review. I can't wait to read more from this new to me Indie romance author!
Started this book off quite into it but after a few chapters, it felt like it dragged and couldn't commit to it.
Thank you NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for allowing me to read this book! I like that this book jumped right into the back story! I love the OUAT reference also! Owen was a very likeable character but Anya was just way to mean from the beginning but the story flowed nicely. I do find that the side character Niall had to be my favorite! I am just so confused all the characters seem so great but Anya just drags it all down and it makes me wonder why they like to hangout with her. It was a very cute quick enjoyable read for me. Usually I’m not a big fan of surprise pregnancy trope books but this one I think needed it. Anya is so closed off and I think the baby finally made her realize she can’t control everything and can’t just push people away. This baby situation was a way that helped Owen finally slip past her walls a little.
I’ve had this on my TBR for far too long and regret not reading it sooner- it was a cute quick breeze of a book. It’s set in Ireland, and though there is some stuff that flew over my American head, the culture and setting added to the charm for me. I’m very basic and cliche- but reading the characters in my mind with Irish accents instantly makes the experience (and any experience really) way better. Anya irked me a lot. She’s not my cup of tea, but the large- and I mean large- ensemble of side characters added to the charm and happy chaos of the story. I’ll now be reading A.S. Kelly’s backlog.
Thanks so much to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC!
Sadly, this book was just not for me.
I did def this in chapter one, but during a hurricane I wanted a distraction not a book that breaks the fourth wall, twice in what chapter. I wanted a distraction not to be part of the story.
Maybe this book is for you if you like these kinds of stories.
Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc of this book.
I really enjoyed the plot of this book. Filled with witty banter. But the conversations were a bit confusing at a times and that was a bit distracting. I loooved the cover and I’m looking forward to reading more books from A. S. Kelly.
The Last One is was a cute story idea and the plot seemed fun and interesting but I just couldn’t seem to get past the way of the characters themselves. Anya pushed away the one person who she loved because she was convinced that he’d leave her anyway eventually and now she’s having major regrets. While Owen on the other hand is furious by the way Anya broke up with because they were in love. Then it takes from there, I liked Owen as his character started to get developed by the details of his life but Anya, she was just a hater and b-word through and through and bad-mouthed her friend’s husbands when all they wanted to do was to be her friend… Overall, the side characters were better than the main ones and that put me off a lot.
Thank you for the preview of this book! I really enjoyed reading The Last One, but it left me wanting more. The build up almost got redundant, but then the ending was so abrupt. I loved these characters and it was a cute story!
The title and description told me to read it, but overall it was not my kind of book. The main character was a tad too negative for me, personally. But, that isn’t to dissuade others from reading it, it just wasn’t for me.
I was almost not going to finish this one but I'm glad I did. I just had a really hard time liking the main character she was just way too negative for me. I know that we want to read how the character in the books grow and develop but I couldn't get over how she would be no negative to all her friends partners and to men in general. But I'm glad that she did get her happy ending and was able to trust in love. It was just honestly hard for me to root for her..but I did and it all worked out . lol
I wanted to like this. I tried to like it. It just wasn't for me. Romance was there, I guess. It was hard to follow, conversations seemed to drag and I felt like I was trying to follow around a circus while reading. Just... not for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and the author for my ARC in return for an honest review.
I found this book so conflicting. On the one hand, there’s a great story in there. On the other - there’s just too many niggles to make this a great read.
For starters, the conversations within the narrative can be confusing in places. It’s unclear who’s talking and, as there’s a lot of inferences in the various conversations, a couple of times I had to re-read passages to try to understand what was being said by whom. Early on in the story this is mildly frustrating - but it becomes a greater distraction as the plot develops.
With the characters, Owen seems a bit 1-dimensional - he’s clearly designed, by a female brain, to be the perfect man. He’s patient and kind and a fireman (not that you see any actual fire based activity throughout the story). He puts up with Anya’s dreadful behaviour and fights for her, despite all she does. And Anya is awful - I get that women want a man who will take them at their worst, however there’s your worst, and then there’s Anya.
Anya is such an unlikeable character. You don’t feel sorry for her, even when the “justification back story” is revealed close to the end. She’s hideous to Owen for no good reason, and I felt that she should be grateful he wanted to be involved in her life, when many men would’ve walked away.
It’s hard going - the first half of this story is uphill all the way. And whilst these books are standalone, I wonder if the supporting characters would seem less strange and unusual if you read the previous 3 books in the series.
