Quick & Easy Recipes with Help is a well curated collection of recipes utilizing small kitchen appliances. Due out 15th Aug 2022 from Gooseberry Patch, it's 288 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats. Recipes are credited for each contributor with general location.
This is a solid, down to earth, well organized cookbook full of everyday recipes which each use "kitchen helper" small appliances such as the air fryer, sheet pan preparation, slow cookers, waffle irons, instant pot type pressure cookers, etc. The recipes are arranged in chapters by which helper appliance is utilized in the recipe: air fryer, instant pot, slow cooker, blender, waffle iron, sheet pan, skillet, and muffin tin.
Recipes include an introduction description, yields, and a bullet list of ingredients in a sidebar, followed by step by step preparation directions. Ingredient measures are given in imperial (American) units. There is no included nutritional information. Each recipe includes a color picture. Serving suggestions are appetizing and appropriate. Graphically, it's a very appealing book with a very "Heartland Americana" vibe. The recipes include a lot of comfort foods and also food which would be good for potlucks and buffet dinners. The dishes pictured are professionally styled and attractive.
The book includes an index with recipes listed by category, so they're easy to find. The editors have also included a metric conversion chart in the back of the book.
Five stars. There are lots of family and crowd favorites included here. This would be a good choice for public library acquisition, for church kitchen libraries, and for folks involved with other "group gathering" activities. You could hit the family reunion for the next 20 years with the recipes in this book and never repeat a dish.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
Another great recipe book from Gooseberry Patch. As in all their others, they gather tried and true (and not complicated) recipes from many contributors and combine them in one easy to use book. This book focuses on on recipes using kitchen appliances and bakeware. There are appetizers, main dishes, side dishes, drinks, smoothies, breakfasts, desserts, vegetarian, and meat dishes. While I don’t own every appliance they used, I still found an abundance of recipes I’d like to try. Thank you to Rowman & Littlefield for an advance e-copy of this book.
This isn't a cookbook that was a good fit for our family but it will be a hit with those who like the kind of recipes in Taste of Home magazine. Gooseberry Patch collects reader submitted recipes and puts them in cookbooks. There are some photos. There is no nutritional information. This particular cookbook uses appliances like air fryers, waffle irons and Instant Pots. If you cook with a lot of ingredients like cream of mushroom soup and biscuit mix, this will be a great book for you. If your family has special dietary needs (gluten free, keto, vegetarian, etc.) or you look for healthier recipes, it will probably not be the best fit.
I read a temporary digital copy of this book for review.
This literally has something for EVERYONE! I love this series of cookbooks and enjoy the down home, comforting foods. These are recipes that my family and I love, recipes that I know my family will eat and enjoy. There are so many different tools represented in this cookbook and I loved how it was put together. This was unique in it’s representation and the recipes top notch!
This is the latest book in the Gooseberry collection. This is the working woman's cookbook. This book includes a section of recipes for instapots, There is another section for crock pots and for air fryer. There are recipes for all kinds of food that can be made in these items. They also explore other appliances in your kitchen that you may not use as much such as waffle iron and blender.
Anyone familiar with Gooseberry Patch cookbooks knows that they are generally community-type books composed of recipes gathered from cooks all over the country. Quick & Easy Recipes with Help...: From My Instant Pot, Air Fryer, Slow Cooker, Waffle Iron & More is an excellent cookbook that not only includes recipes from cooks all over the country, but recipes using helpers such as appliances (slow cooker, Instant Pot, waffle iron, blender, and air fryer), as well as skillets and sheet pans. The recipes are mostly easy with minimal ingredients, so they can be successfully made by beginners as well as advanced cooks.
Although every dish isn’t pictured, many are, and the photographs are beautiful and mouthwatering. The recipes included in each chapter will appeal to almost everyone; there are vegetarian dishes, as well as snacks, appetizers, side dishes, salads, main dishes with beef, poultry, and pork, and plenty of great desserts. Almost every owns the appliances featured, and they definitely speed up the meal prep process. The only thing the book lacks is fish and seafood recipes, but there are enough other things, that this shouldn’t prevent anyone from loving this cookbook. The recipes have influences from all over the world from Asia to Europe and many of them are All-American. The recipes are written in traditional form, and are easy to follow. As is typical of Gooseberry Patch cookbooks, this one is colorful and fun to look at as well as cook from.
All told, this fun cookbook has something that will appeal to the entire family, even picky children (and husbands). It will make a nice addition to anyone’s cookbook library.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Whenever a recipe or cookbook says 'Quick & Easy', my ears perk up as a mom of two young boys. These recipes seem like they will be quick, easy and delicious. I really like that the cookbook is organized by the type of help (instant pot, slow cooker, waffle iron, etc). It will make looking for a type of recipe very easy. My 3 year old loves waffles for breakfast - I'm looking forward to trying more savory waffles for dinner like the Corn Waffle Tostadas and Spicy-Sweet Corn Waffles.
