Victorian era? Check.
Romance? Check.
Ridiculously hot and comfort level busting bumchicawawa? You freaking betcha!
I thought Aphrodite in Bloom was full of sensual surprises, well folks... Fetish not only topped the smuttastic cake but it frosted that sucker in sultry and laid down the law on kinky.
Fetish is the second collection of erotic stories by Anonymous. Each one begins with a mention of any trigger warnings or content mentions for the reader to decide if they want to venture further. Each plot, character and even desire is wholly unique to each romantic tale. This is not the Victorian romance you're used too. At all.
I personally found something to love in each one. Whether it was the connection, the eroticism or the self discovery themes, there was truly something to appreciate. It may push the comfort level for some or entice for others but either way this is a high recommend from me to my very erotic loving readers. Releases tomorrow!!! Mark those calendars!
Thank you Entangled Publishing for the gifted copy! A collection I'll continue to revisit for sure! True rating 4.5/5.
A surprise gem hiding amongst my books, I loved this collection. I only wish I knew who some of the writers were so I could follow them or see if there are more stories they have written. I picked this book up on a lark because I'm running out of erotic/sexy books to review on this blog. The blurb for this book doesn't do it justice. This is a wealth of unique, provocative, and deliciously erotic stories. I enjoyed every single one of them.
What catches my attention about each story is the time period for the story. This is why I categorized it as historical. Each of these short erotica pieces is set around the late 1800s. The stories cover a wide range of sexual orientations and fetishes. I particularly enjoyed a woman diagnosed with infertility due to "hysteria" and needed to visit a doctor to help her overcome it.
There are so many delightful fetishes in this collection for those who enjoy sexual expression and freedom. This may be a bit overwhelming for the vanilla crowd. For those of us who are pansexual switches, these tales will titillate and arouse. What is also pleasing for me is the writing style. There is a refined elegance to these stories. It reminds me of a publishing company from the late 90s that specialized in well-written erotica. The characters are well-formed; the plot is well defined and the sex scenes were tantalizing. I wish there would be more erotica written in this fashion. If another omnibus is created in this style, I will definitely want to read it.
I highly recommend this erotic collection to kinky readers who enjoy all matters of hedonistic pleasure.
This was an interesting book, the 10 stories are all based on a Fetish (like using balloons during sex), some of the stories were very good, others not so much, I think this book would be best if you read one story at a time and not like I did, one after the other. Not all stories worked for me, though that may just be a personal preference than the story itself, one in particular that involved piecing intimate parts of the body had me cringing at the descriptions of piercing of one body part. All the stories were written very well and all involved consensual acts, but some of the acts involved spanking and beating with a cane, the person on the receiving end enjoyed this but I found it a bit disturbing. Overall I enjoyed all the stories and that all the people involved were in love with each other and what they were doing. Thanks to #Netgalley and #Entangled Publishing for the ARC.
I thought this collection sounded interesting but I just couldn’t get into it. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m used to reading contemporary romance / erotica. But this just wasn’t my cup of tea.
This book delivers 10 tantalizing tales that are intriguing and steamy. I enjoyed this omnibus. The enclosed stories definitely captured and kept my attention. Lots of variety here, so there's sure to be something to tickle your fancy.
This was not for me at all. I couldn’t really get into it, the prose and format of the book just didn’t work unfortunately. This was a DNF
Thank you Entangled Publishing for the advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is the first book that I have read from this publisher that I could have passed on. It was a struggle to finish. I skimmed through some of the stories that did not hold my interest. A few of the stories were good. I really cannot recommend this book.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley and this is my freely given opinion.
This is an anthology of erotica set during the Victorian era in various places in the world, with each story with a fetish focus ranging from fairly mild stuff such as tickling, and extramarital sex, some BDSM, to things I was not even aware of as a fetish such as balloon play. But each and every story drew me in because they had interesting, well drawn out characters, and each story was written well, with a lot of emotion and pathos for the various characters. Even those stories where the particular fetish did not appeal to me, such as the one where characters played as animals, the story itself was interesting with appealing characters and story line.
In terms of romantic storylines, I do think I prefer the previously published sister anthology, Aphrodite in Bloom. But on saying that, I very much so enjoyed reading this anthology. The stories were short, but with nicely written storylines and characters that drew me in and engaged me. There were a variety of situations that would appeal to a broad range of interests including LGBTQIA+.
These ten short stories are set in the Victorian era and cover various fetishes.
All of these stories are spicy. Each story has a preface to let you know what the story contains.
I can honestly say that only two of the stories didn't grab my attention. I skimmed those stories just to know what was going on. One was not for me and the other was okay.
I would definitely keep a physical copy of this book for those times want something quick or a palate cleanser.
Thank you so much to Entangled and NetGalley for this ARC to review.
I like the standard format of this book, how each story begins with a dateline, and that this collection of 10 stories spans world regions, culture and a certain span of history, for example from 1870 Swiss Alps to 1878 Paris to 1890 Hong Kong. Like time and venue, there is also a wide range of fetishes covered here, from the more commonplace to the obscure; even the most standardized of subjects is still written about in such a way that interest is thoroughly sustained. It's a shame the author wishes to remain anonymous, otherwise I'd happily seek out their other work to read.
Entertaining read. If you like historical romance and erotica romance this just a good fit for you. Check TW before jumping in. I did enjoy some of the stories more than others but still a great read.
Enough variety to satisfy many kinky interests
What I enjoyed about this book is that it covered a wide range of interests. There were lots of unique fetishes like shock therapy, needle obsessions, hair fixations and more. Then there were some not so unique but still interesting such as paddling, voyeurism and pony play. Included in the variety are gay and lesbian stories. The emphasis in this book is fetish play with erotic undertones. Also helpful is that there is a description in the beginning of each story along with a warning so if you don’t want to read that one, move on to the next, which I must admit I did a few times.
I truly enjoyed this compilation of very different, well-written stories which take place in the latter part of the 19th century. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Entangled/NetGalley. I give it five stars for its assortment.
Fetish is a collection of erotic stories set in the victorian age about various people with their various fetishes. It was well written and the stories were interesting, as well as very smutty.
What you enjoy in erotica is obviosuly very subjective. What I enjoy will not be in everyone's tastes – and vice versa. Thankfully, the stories are complete standalones so I just skipped the ones I felt a bit iffy about. Perhaps I'll be in the mood for them in the future!
There were a few odd things, like the words used to describe genitals switching mid-scene and a few personal problems I have with some of the stories, which is why I've given Fetish 3 out of 5 stars. It's worth picking up if you're ever in the mood for a smutty short story!
First and foremost, let's not yuck anyone's yum or kink shame anyone.
This is a truly interesting collection of 10 short stories following different couples and their kinks. There's a list of the corresponding kinks explored as well as content warnings preceding each story which I thought was a thoughtful addition.
I found this to be a fascinating read, covering a wide range of fetishes from more generally known to some that were new to me. The stories all take place in the 1800s and do have some emotion involved, it's not just PWP, and the couples are in various stages of their relationships.
While I enjoy the format this was in, starting a new story about a new couple and a new setting 10 times in a row was a touch exhausting, but I wholly believe this books did what it set out to do.
What an interesting collection of short stories. I still see below some of them. I really enjoyed and some of them as you can see, and some I did not. All of these were historical/victorian romances, which typically isn’t a normal genre I read. However, I read the first anthology from last year and I really enjoyed it so I figured why not give this one a try as well. If you enjoy historical romances and erotic romance I think this would be a great fit for you! There’s definitely a little something for everyone!

Fetish by Anonymous
A Collection of Victorian Erotic Stories
Finely told intriguing stories that tastefully explore a variety of erotic fantasies that opened my mind and allowed me to peek into what others enjoy.
What I liked:
* The writing – superbly written, hot, steamy, drew me in and made me more aware
* The wide variety of fetishes
* That I could actually visualize the scenes and at times felt I could have stepped into some of them
* The historical setting and variety of settings
* That there were characters from more than one social class.
* That the lovers were given happy endings even if sometimes unconventional
* Wondering who the anonymous author might be and wanting to read more of their work
* That relationships were consensual
* Realizing that the author of this collection wrote Aphrodite in Bloom – a favorite
* Everything about these stories was superb
What I didn’t like:
* I usually put this section in but…there isn’t anything for me to say that I didn’t like though some appealed to me more than others.
Did I enjoy this book? YES!
Would I read more by this author? Definitely…if I knew who it was ;)
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled-Amara for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
My Selling Pitch:
Do you want to read a collection of smutty stories set in the Victorian era? Are you interested in reading about different fetishes that are definitely not vanilla?
Pre-reading:
Once more unto the breach. Just an absolute glutton for punishment I guess. I love a short story collection.
Thick of it:
The chapter descriptions alone. My god.
You know I love the trigger warnings and period accuracy.
Forgot for a moment that the Victorians had crotchless undies.
Sometimes this book gets too modern with the horny.
Not the word pelt.
4 stars how fun how positive.
Not all Vincents 😂
Is pelt some staple of the Victorian genre that I don’t know about because I do not like it.
Then you would have to return your body as a baby. That makes no sense. Also, tell that to circumcision.
It’s giving Pretty Woman.
OK but like why are they so cute together?
I can’t even imagine how badly that would hurt.
Prevaricate is a juicy little word.
That’s a cheesy, cheesy line.
Why are we still perpetuating the virginity hurts myth?
4 stars. The ending really spoiled it for me.
I am so afraid of this story omg.
Sweet baby jesus, ~no.~
Not a cat girl too omfg.
There is no way they’re trying to pass this off as a healthy coping mechanism. Go to therapy.
I’ve always liked the word churlish.
The kink family inheritance lol.
I don’t know what to do with this one because arguably it’s well written for what it is, but also it’s so horrifying that I can’t deal with it, and it’s not healthy, and I will yuck this particular kink. I think it’s bad. 2 stars.
You know just when I thought it couldn’t get weirder… This one’s kind of harmless, but it’s fucking weird.
I also weirdly like the sound of hair being cut. It’s just satisfyingly crisp, like biting into an apple.
Sometimes the language goes modern and it’s very disorienting and confusing.
FONDUE.
Again, super weird, but if you have this particular kink, it’s well-written. 2 stars.
This one is very insta-love.
Feminist. I dig it. 3 stars.
Oh ew to the emotionally abusive passive aggression.
I’m so toxic and horrible that my immediate reaction to such a thing was make me 😂
Mmm, we’re dipping into the unhealthy. Please don’t crave humiliation. Have some self-respect. Go to therapy for your poor self-image. Not this.
Okay, but he’s coming across as emotionally intelligent. And ~that’s~ attractive, not the authority.
Too modern, c’mon now.
See this I vibe with because it’s not sadism and pain for the sake of pain. The other side though…Buddy, what are you doing? Just go to therapy. This is basically controlled self-harm.
Oh look, literally addressing sadism and how this is not that because that’s not healthy.
Hot. You can’t deadpan like that at me sir.
Oopsies, now I’m just nervous laughing-hoT.
Why is that a bad thing though? Want something else. That’s great. I don’t think wants are punishable. Inaction maybe. But trying and failing shouldn’t be punished.
Why is he so healthy? Where’s his toxic?
Why am I like aw, this is cute right now? This is not supposed to be cute, but like goddamn, it’s really cute. I really like them.
Oh sinning. This one is sinning.
So sassy, I love it.
I don’t want it to be over. 5 stars. I’m sweating.
Oh, not a pick me sad boy. How are you going from Lucas to thissss?
But like the dowager is right. That’s how you get power.
I just fundamentally do not understand this kink. 2 stars.
I wish they would play together as well. 4 stars.
I think they are adorable, and it’s not my taste, but it’s so well written. 5 stars.
Humans are so weird with what they want to fuck.
Again super weird, but well written. 4 stars.
Post-reading:
Another very odd book to review. Because it’s definitely not a book for everybody. I feel like you need some kind of morbid fascination with the perverse to truly enjoy the book. If you don’t have these fetishes, the scenes can be bonkers and frankly a little uncomfortable, but it’s like a car crash you can’t look away from. The stories are well written. They just are. It’s pretty impressive that one person can write with such authority and in depth on such a breadth of different mindsets to the point that it’s completely believable. I don’t think you can read this book and doubt that the characters represent their particular fetishes, and all the stories are handled with such empathy. The author was very responsible for putting trigger warnings ahead of the stories, and in such a way that you can go in blind to the plot of the scenes while still being informed about what in the hell you’re about to read. I don’t know, honestly, recommend to my fellow perverts, especially for the Paddle story. Would personally skip and take out the Horse one. You’ve been warned lol.
(Also, I hate books written by anonymous. How am I supposed to read more of your work now if I enjoy it?)
Who should read this:

Honestly I am not sure how to rate Fetish - A Collection of Erotic Stories. This novel is filled with Victorian romance stories that are incredibly smutty. These short stories took me by surprise and I guess I didn't know I needed these in my life. The late 1800's finds it kink is ALL I can say about this book.
Thank you Entangled Publishing for the gifted copy to read prior to the publication date.
This is a delightful steamy winner that showcases a variety of unique stories. Each story is set in late 1800’s Europe and features a variety of couples exploring their sexual desires. From the virgin to the widow, and couples of all races and sexual orientations you will be sure to find something that totally delights you.
Fetish by Anonymous is a collection of erotic stories set in Victorian times. With ten stories about different proclivities people can have, this is quite a read. While this was not a collection for me, I can see that it would be an entertaining read for some. I did appreciate that there were warnings at the beginning of each story that spoke of topics in the upcoming story.
Thank you to Netgalley and Entangled/Amara for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.
