Darynda Jones is a wonderful author with a terrific wit, and that comes through in all her books. A HARD DAY FOR A HANGOVER is no exception.
This is the third of her Sunshine Vicram series, and it helps to read the first two to really grasp all the characters and plot twists. But in a good way, because these characters are terrific! (Though each book does stand on its own, the overall story arc of a continuing mystery with Sunshine unfolds from the first book to the last.)

Sheriff Sunshine Vicram has to solve a case of missing women, protect her intrepid investigator of a daughter, and deal with her (soulmate?) heart-throbbing, sexy kind-of boyfriend, Levi, who's got a ton of his own baggage with an untrustworthy family.

Best of all, we finally get the truth of what happened 17 years ago when Sunshine went missing. A terrific resolution to the series and an ending we all deserved.

Don't miss this series, starting with A BAD DAY FOR SUNSHINE and following with A GOOD DAY FOR CHARDONNAY. Jones is a master of witty banter and cunning mystery.

I really enjoyed this book. Hope there are more. in the series. Title is a bit misleading. Enjoyed the interaction between Mom and Daughter.

The wit and the banter and on-going storyline continues in book 3. This is such a fun series! The dialogue, the plots are fun and charming and absolutely well written. Much like a Stephanie Plum novel, but more updated.

ARC ebook received from NetGalley in exchange for a review.

Quite delayed but what a satisfying end (?) to the series. There's a bit of the old joke on if Sun or Quincy quit first that leaves a bit of old joke to end things on.

I'm glad that things between Levi, Sun and Auri have let the cat out of the bag, to borrow a saying. That's not the only cat free, as a uncle frees himself from jail -with a heart attack - to get Levi out of trouble cooked up between Del Son's former sheriff and his uncle that's after him - and Auri.

In between flashers, knitting needle stabbing, a band of boy thieves, a racoon with kits and someone gaining a grandma -the mystery of a girl found left for dead throws a conspiracy that reveals the darkest side of Del Sol's secrets.

While this one was part of a series, it was still doable without too much confusion to read it as a stand alone. I think I would have enjoyed it more had I known all of the backstory. There were definitely some laugh out load moments scattered throughout!

This is the third book in the Sunshine Vicram series which should be read in order and not stand alone. it begins with a plot in book one which is gradually revealed through the following books. What doesn't change is the witty sarcasm that makes Sunshine Vicram a likeable protagonist. She is a single mother to teenage daughter, Auri, who returns home to Del Sol, New Mexico to act as sheriff. She discovers that her parents had somehow rigged an election for her to become the new sheriff. It's a small town with many well-meaning characters who make you laugh with their attempts to help.

At this point, Sunshine has resolved the issue of her abduction when she was 17 years-old. She is also trying to keep track of her inquisitive and crime solving daughter, Auri, who seems to find trouble while investigating some missing girls in town. Sunshine discovered that Levi Ravinder, her first love, wasn't as involved with his family's shady distillery business as once thought. Sunshine can't help but feel the attraction she once had for him all those years ago. Her parents help out with keeping an eye on Auri as plays amateur detective and possibly finding a crush of her own. Good friend Quincy Cooper, the deputy sheriff, is always available to provide support as well. Aside from the case of the missing girls, they have to investigate the town flasher who is found with knitting needles in this neck.

This is addition does not disappoint with the mystery, wit and humor. A fun cozy mystery series.

Thank you NetGalley and St Martin's Press for sending this book for review
consideration. All opinions are my own.

***5 Stars***

I must say that I am thoroughly enjoying the adventures of the Vicram girls and the crazy inhabitants of Del Sol.

The case was a crazy scary one and when I found out the who, the why and the ultimate outcome, it was kind of mind blowing, but made sense when I thought it all over.

But the stars of the story are Sunshine and Auri. I love their relationship and I love getting to be in their heads and experience everything they go through, though I would probably want to put a tracker on Auri any time she leaves the house. And then when you add Quincy, Cruz, Levi and the parentals/grandparentals to the mix (along with the entire town) well, it's just all kinds of fun. And speaking of Levi ~ I really liked how things worked out there…it’s about time! And I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next, because more changes are coming, but I shall do my best to wait patiently for the next book and the crazy to come.

Sheriff Sunshine Vicram, a single mother and Del Sol New Mexico sheriff, clears her mind most days with a bottle of tequila and then does her best the morning after to serve the people. It seems as if every member of her department has their eye on another member of the department as their next romantic conquest--and Sunshine
does the same with hopes to reconnect with Levi, the father of her teenage daughter. This is the third book in a series. Readers should begin with book one, A Bad Day for Sunshine, to see if they are interested in the high energy series.

Sunshine is the sheriff in a small New Mexico town. Between a busy work schedule, her love life, and a teenage daughter, Sunshine has a lot on her plate. And, oh boy, does Sunshine has her hands full in this book!

A Hard Day for a Hangover is the third book in the Sunshine Vicram series. I recommend reading the earlier two books before diving into this one. While this book can stand on its own, understanding the characters and what has happened previously makes for a more enjoyable read.

The characters are quirky. The setting is charming. The writing is witty. The story is exciting. A Hard Day for a Hangover is a gripping read with romance, humor, and mystery. A great read for fans of mysteries with strong female protagonists and sarcastic humor.

This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope There is more to come from this author! I am totally hooked!

I don’t know if this counts in the cozy mystery genre, but it’s close. I love coming back to these characters and how formulaic things are without being overly predictable.

Perfect perfect perfect! Do yourself a favor and join Sunshine from story 1. You can, of course, jump in to the story here but every book has been absolutely entertaining and a joy to read. The characters are lovably flawed, show dynamic growth, and frankly act like you'd expect people in the real world to respond to real situations. This is a quick read only because you'll need to know what's going to happen!

5/5

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4 stars!

This was so good! I think that where I let myself down was stupidly not reading the first books in this series which did leave me a little confused. But besides that, I thought this was a great book! I absolutely loved Sheriff Sun and her relationship with her daughter. I felt myself swooning over the romance and the mystery was honestly great too. I'll go back and read the rest of the series for sure!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I had received "A Bad Day for Sunshine" prior to it being released and was HOOKED! I read the second Sunshine Vicram book, "A Good Day for Chardonnay: A Novel" and also enjoyed it. This one, "A Hard Day for a Hangover" was FANTASTIC! I love the characters Sunshine, her daughter, Auri, and the love of her life, Levi! The story had me laughing, crying, wanting more.

This series is an excellent series! If you want to read a fun mystery series, I HIGHLY recommend this one.

Thank you, Darynda Jones. Love your writing!
