Thank you so much to Net galley and the publisher for sending me a copy of this audiobook! I really enjoyed this book! The characters were great and I loved the plot. I definitely want to read more by Sona!
3.5 stars!
This is the story of a sixteen-year- old Indo-American girl trying to fulfill her dream of getting an internship at the Fierce magazine company.
I enjoyed it, and it was a fun read overall. Narrated by Soneela Nankani, I also thought the audiobook was done well.
*many thanks to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review
A fun contemporary read with a moral at the heart. Younger for teens with a diverse cast of characters makes this a modern delectable read! Maya finds herself in one big lie and digs the hole she is in deeper and deeper but she is living her dream. I love ld this book so much and would definitely pick up a sequel if the author ever dived back into writing about these characters.
Maya is going to cow camp to bolster her learning of agriculture to take over her family garlic farm. Little does her family know she really wants to go to Fierce fashion magazine and work in fashion. When she arrives at cow camp to stay with her cousin she discovers an in to Fierce and leaps at the opportunity. When some confusion occurs and she is offered an editor position she takes the job and drama ensues trying to keep the job and hide her true age and experience. But what will happen when her family arrives to see she isn't at cow camp? What will happen when Fierce learns she isn't who she said she is? A great and heartwarming read.
An Indian American farm girl from California spends the summer chasing her dreams of working at a fashion magazine in NYC. This #ownvoices YA romance had lots of Devil wears Prada vibes with a great cast of secondary characters. I really enjoyed the story on audio narrated by Soneela Nankani and recommend it for fans of SK Ali or Sajni Patel. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
