A very cute summer read/listen! I really enjoyed the dynamic between Lizzie and Rake, and the quality of the audiobook was really good. Sometimes you get a story where the voice doesn't match the character's energy but that was not the case here- the voice actors chosen were perfect! As for the story, I really enjoyed it. It was definitely on the "lighter" side of romance- don't get me wrong, the chemistry is 100% there and there were some steamy scenes, but I just meant that this is not four-alarm-fire level hot, and that's ok! I also loved the energy of Lizzie and her friends- those were some of my favorite scenes to read. I don't really have any major complaints, just one minor nitpick. I sometimes found some of the manifestations of Lizzie's ADHD hard to swallow as realistic. I have ADHD myself and I know all experiences are unique but reading hers felt a little forced and extreme. I think that's the one thing that kept me from feeling fully drawn in and obsessed with the story. However, Lizzie is still a completely likable character and the book was definitely worth reading. If you're on the fence, you should go for it and read/listen to this one. I had a lot of fun with this story and you will, too!

Unfortunately, this book was not for me. It was very spicy right from the get go. I can handle a little bit of spice but unfortunately the storytelling that accompanied it was not great. I DNF at 15%.

I really enjoyed this book but not as much as her first one. It was still cute and fun but I do wish the MCs had a bit more chemistry. It wasn't always believable. Mostly seemed like lust

I really enjoyed this it was funny, it also was lighthearted but talked about real life things. I started listening to it late at night and didn't want to stop listening to it.

This book was slow to start and fast to end without much build. I feel like the pregnancy happened so fast along with the romance. One day they were “strangers” and the next in love. I really liked the two narrators though!

I was beyond excited to see that Eddings had written another book. If you haven’t read A Brush with Love you are missing out! This story follows a character from that book but is a total stand alone! A great fun read with strong representation throughout.

My first accidental pregnancy trope read and dare I say I really enjoyed it! It was the perfect trope to bring Lizzie and Rake together, balancing their personalities to make a unique but sweet relationship. I love the tenderness Rake showed to Lizzie, making her feel valued, seen, and sheltered like no one had before. And of course I loved Lizzie, spunky and lively and baking erotic treats. Her ADHD was handled so well and Mazey is great at discussing mental health stigmas in ways that work well in her stories. The “found family” Lizzie has and boundaries set with her biological family were really great storylines as well, making for a compulsive read I couldn’t put down. I finished in a few hours! I will say this started off with more of a “bang” than I usually prefer, but it worked for the trope and I was held in by the plot.

I adored listening and reading Mazey Edding’s sophomore novel: Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake. As an ADHD’er myself, I instantly connected with Lizzie and kept yelling out “me too” at the many things that Edding’s described as Lizzie. I fell for Rake and Lizzie’s relationship automatically and wanted the best for both of these characters, also known as a happy ending. The narrators connected me to Lizzie’s world of Philadelphia and made me want to live in “The Brush with Love” Universe. Edding’s latest just solidified to me more that this is an author that you NEED to have on your “must read” list. Fans of romantic comedies and down to Earth characters will enjoy Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake.

This book really took me by surprise with how much I loved it. I think I liked it even more than the first book in the series! I loved both Lizzie and Rake and was really rooting for them the whole time. I laughed out loud and teared up once or twice too. Plus, the spice was great!

This was actually the first book with the accidental pregnancy trope, which I feel like a lot of people don't like, but I really enjoyed it. Maybe it's because the book was really more focused on Lizzie and Rake's relationship than the actual pregnancy. The pregnancy was obviously the reason they were brought together and the size of the baby was mentioned at the beginning of every chapter, but book wasn't focused on the pregnancy itself.

I also found the ADHD rep to be really great, which I haven't seen much in books before. As with the first book in the series, I love Lizzie's friend group and hope we'll get to see more from them!

For a light romance to get five stars, I truly have to have something to set it entirely apart. And when I began this book, I thought “oh no…. OH NO…. Is Lizzie Blake’s best mistake my most hated romance trope?!” And it was. But I plowed through.

THANK GOODNESS I DID. This wonderful book made me feel seen in a way I’ve not experienced reading. As an adult woman with ADHD, I’ve lived 39 years feeling “too much”. My laugh is too loud, my reactions are too big, I cry too much, I feel rejection in the slightest of moments, I am “lazy”, I have a hard time holding a job that is “conventional”. And for the first time in a romance novel, I read myself on the page. I am Lizzie Blake. Lizzie Blake is all us ADHD girls who are told over and over again to “tone it down”. I cried several times for the sheer amount of connection I had with her and her daily struggles.

As far as the romance in this book, in addition to feeling so keenly close to the MC, our Australian hero, Rake, is exactly the counterpart we all dream of. He’s not just accepting of Lizzie, he embraces it. He’s in awe of her, He finds what others see as “too much” to be magical. He’s the partner any ND person should have. Also, he brings the heat - this book is solid on the spice front. ;)

This became an immediate favorite and one I will definitely be purchasing in physical form when it is released!

I enjoyed this book. I appreciate that the main character embraces her neurodiversity and values herself enough to ignore those who don’t. I enjoyed the humor, but the knight in shining armor the male lead I insists on isn’t my favorite trope.

I absolutely loved this book! This was the second book in a series that reminds me of “The Friend Zone” series by Abby Jimenez which I just adore. And I have to say, I enjoyed this one significantly more than the first book which is always a great surprise!

The main character Lizzie and her story of life with adult ADHD will stick with me for awhile- she was such a fun and likable character, and I love how this author has once again “normalized” a challenge that many people face.

This book was heartwarming, relatable, funny, and definitely a bit on the steamy side for the rom-com world. I’m excited to see what this author writes next!

I don’t mind a well-crafted romance. I’m getting used to the sex in the modern day romcoms. But, what I am not used to is the constant mention of sex throughout the book. One would think the characters cannot think past their bedroom desires. The main characters are Lizzy and Rake. Lizzy is a woman suffering from ADHD. Rake is the man from Australia that she met at a bar. The thing is that I did not find the characters believable. I didn’t even like Lizzy all that much. She was more of a caricature to me. Rake, I found to be very unrealistic. Even in a dreamy man type romance situation. The book needs to have half a foot rooted in reality and this book was floating in some world with a whole bunch of sex and desire and a little bit of story. I do not think I will read another book by this author.

Lizzie Blake is a baker who has ADHD. She's struggling and trying her best each day. To release some stress she goes to a bar to meet a tinder date. But instead she meets a handsome Aussie named Rake. They end up having a 2 day stand while he's
in town. 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Then a few weeks later she finds out shes pregnant. She calls Take and tells him. He moves to the USA to coparent the baby. It's not all happily ever after yet. There were some bumps and lots of learning.

I really enjoyed the narrators. I really enjoyed getting to know Lizzie and her ADHD. Rake, I'm totally imagining eye candy. Probably Hemsworthy. Oy that accent. This was a fun listen.

Mazey Eddings has very quickly pushed her way to the top of my auto buy authors!!! I absolutely love the tone of her writing. The way she crafts friendship dynamics and relationships!

Lizzie was ray of sunshine. Her tenacity and effervescent personality really shone through the writing. She felt so real and she totally melted my heart.

Rake was darling. You can tell he's a cinnamon roll from the get go. I loved his accent on the audiobook and he was just genuinely a good guy.

I have a hard time deciding how I felt about this book. The pregnancy trope isn’t one I am usually drawn to, but I think this one has extra layers to it that added some depth to the character’s relationships. I also loved how the author addressed the character’s unique personalities and ADHD. I can’t relate to someone who has been diagnosed with ADHD, but I do share the experience of thinking differently than others, and I thought this book did a wonderful job at explaining how a diagnosis can change the way you feel about yourself in different situations. I am not one to read “spicy” romance novels, so the intimate scenes in this book did get a bit much for me— this is one of the reasons I couldn’t give it a higher rating. Overall, I think the character growth, inclusiveness, and conclusion were done very well. Are there parts that I was disinterested in? Yes. Do I regret reading it? I don’t think so.

I cannot begin to say enough good things about Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake!

Generally, I'm not a big fan of the surprise pregnancy storyline, but Mazey Eddings told this story in such a refreshing way and packed in such beautiful second storylines surrounding chosen family and neurodivergent struggles. There were many times I giggled along with Lizzie, but also times I wanted to cry alongside her as well.

The audiobook was a quick listen and wonderfully narrated by Summer Morton and Will Peters who did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life. Bonus, that Australian accent is *chef's kiss*!

The mental health aspects really hit home as my 4 year old as ongoing sensory issues and is being worked up for conditions. Although the pregnancy trope is not my favorite I did enjoy this book. I felt like the side characters were weak and did not bring tons to the game. The audio was perfect esp the Australia accent parts. Thank you for the arc.

I am an anxious mama to a 2e kiddo (gifted/adhd) and have been thinking to have myself evaluated for adhd.. this book really hit me in the feels. It was incredibly relatable and made the book that much more enjoyable. This romcom did not disappoint one bit, I listened to it all in one day because I was just so invested in the story (I listened on 2X speed, took about 5-6hrs). It was spicy, funny, messy, heartfelt and deep. The cinnamon roll hero Rake was absolutely delicious (no pun intended) and the way they grow together is swoony.

The narrators were excellent with one complaint - I wish since it was dual POV that Rake had an accent for all of his chapters, not just when he was personally speaking.

I very much look forward to other Mazey Eddings work and hope that the other friends in the group, Indira and Tu are part of her plans!

Lizzie Blake is full of life, wears her heart on her sleeve, and has been making a string of mistakes as she moves through life. Rake is on a business trip in Philadelphia from Australia when he meets Lizzie and is immediately drawn to her chaotic charm. Lizzie never spends more than one night with a man. Rake hasn’t been emotionally available for quite some time but there’s something about Lizzie that starts to make him question some things. One night together leads to a second night together, which neither Lizzie nor Rake expected, before Rake heads back to Australia. A couple weeks and a pregnancy test later, Lizzie and Rake have a lot to figure out.

I absolutely LOVED this romcom! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars from me! It was laugh out loud funny but also hit me right in the emotional feels. Lizzie was such a fun character - hilarious, witty, charming, and vulnerable. Rake is a top tier book boyfriend - sweet, understanding, thoughtful, and protective. I loved their communication and how they worked to truly understand one another. They were really fun to get to know! I had to pause the book when Lizzie shouted “OH MY GOD. IS THAT MY THONG?” because I was laughing so hard.

I thought the secondary relationships in this story were very well done too. Lizzie’s relationship with her parents, particularly her mother, was emotional and raw. I really enjoyed the growth of her relationship with her brother. I wish there had been more with Rake’s parents because I loved them!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Summer Mortons and Will Peters at 1.5x speed. I thought they both did a fantastic job, especially Will and his accent for Rake! Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake is a fabulous story and they were really able to bring Lizzie and Rake to life for me!
