I discovered Georgina Cross recently and have become a big fan. The Girl in Your House starts off with a prologue that captured my attention immediately. Chapter after charter, I was unable to put it down! It’s the perfect amount of suspense while still being believable. The ending is shocking! I will be telling everyone about this book and cannot wait to see it on the bestsellers lists.

A really great story of long held family secrets and fatal revenge! When Tara learns that her sister Beth has perished in an awful house fire, and that Hannah, the teen age niece she has not seen since she was three, is coming to live with her and her daughter, Cassie, she is overwhelmed. How can she take care of a girl she doesn't know and help her to deal with her mom's tragic death? Little does she know that those are the least of her worries. An all around good story though the writing can be repetitive in places, and somewhat simplistic and stilted in style.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing this advance copy for me to read and review.

Wow, I love everything about this book. The story is so suspenseful and engaging. Everything played out in my head like a movie. I didn't see the twist coming. I had my ideas but I was wrong in the end. The story was so well done and I can't wait to read more from Ms. Cross.

From reading her previous novels, I expected The Girl in Your House to be very well-written, have characters that are real, and have lots of secrets and lies and twists and suspense that will have me flying though the pages. I was right! I could not get enough of this book. The pacing was perfect. Solid right from cover to cover. I look forward to reading more from Georgina Cross!

This was such a gripping psychological thriller that kept me on the edge all the time!

Tara receives the most horrible news. Her estranged sister, Beth had died in a fire and someone had put the fire in her house. The only survivor of the arson was Beth's sixteen-year-old daughter Hannah. Now Tara, knows that she will be next. As she and her daughter Cassie is preparing to welcome Hannah into their new home, Tara must keep the secret that she and Beth promised to keep, all those years ago...a secret that may be connected to the fire...

This was really fast paced from the start to the finish. I couldn't simply put the book down as I yearned to know what is going to happen next. The story is told mainly in Tara's POV and towards the middle of the book, you get to know the secret that Tara and Beth had been hiding after all those years. There were some twists and turns which actually made the whole book interesting and the ending was clearly unexpected that I was actually surprised at this unexpected twist--did not really see it coming! Overall, this book kept me on the edge and there was so much family drama in this book and the twists that will keep you guessing till the end.

Overall, this is a fast paced unputdownable thriller that will put at the edge of your seat--worth five stars!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

Thank you Netgalley & Bookouture for an eARC copy of The Girl in Your House by Georgina Cross!

Tara gets a call that someone set fire to her sister’s house, her niece being the only survivor. Her first thought is: They’re coming for me next. Tara’s niece, Hannah, comes to live with her and her daughter Cassie. This is when Tara starts receiving creepy notes. Someone from her past won’t leave things behind.

This one’s a quick and twisty read! The first half was slow-building for me, with the second half being a roller coaster ride. I had some of it figured out, but certainly not all of it.

So, I am officially crowning Georgina Cross “Queen of TWISTS”! 👸🥨

I’m honestly having trouble trying to form words on how to describe this book because my brain has been exploded into a million pieces from the EXPLOSIVE TWIST. 🤯🤯🤯🤯

I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING AT ALL!

Just wow.

A creepy atmospher woven throughout, twisty and unpredictable and kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat.

The beginning of the book felt choppy because of the constant insinuations of 'what happened in the past' and no background. I wish it was written in a more linear way. Once the past is explained over the course of several chapters the story starts to become more fluid and enjoyable. The second half of the book becomes a full-blown thriller with a hefty twist you don't see coming.

The Girl in Your House by Georgina Cross is a domestic thriller that kept me reading into the night. Great characters and eerie suspense. Recommended for fans of slow-building, character-driven stories with twists and turns. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

This ticked all the boxes for me!it was a bit slow to start and is very much character drive but I really enjoyed it! The twists at the end are insane and you just have no clue they're coming until they slap you in the face. It's well written and kept me hooked. When it starts flashing back then it finally gives some context to the incredibly vague and shady start to the book. There are no plot holes left and it's actually quite sad the way it does all end which I prefer to the books who have some stupid forced happily ever after ending. A really nice thriller by all accounts

I was thinking I'd like this one after reading and really liking the authors other book NANNY NEEDED, unfortunately, this one didn't work for me. It was just not too thrilling or suspenseful, and I had it all figured out. I still would still read more by the author though.

Tara hasn't talked to her sister Beth for years, since she left home after an accident with their parents. She gets a phone call saying Beth has been killed in a house fire, and her surviving daughter Hannah is going to need a place to stay, she knows she has no other choice but to welcome Hannah. Hannah gets along great with Tara's daughter Cassie, bad they are around the same age. Tara now thinks that someone is coming for her and the girls, that someone is trying to kill them too. Is it someone from the past, or is it someone who's closer than she thinks??

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own.

Slow to start but definitely picked up. Twists I didn't see coming. Loved the ending.
A book I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an early release of this book.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it.

Tara and Beth are sisters who grow up with their parents on a large family property. The sisters do not speak for years and when Beth dies in a fire at their parents' home which she inherited after they both die and her daughter Hannah flees from the fire, Tara finds out that she is to raise Hannah according to Beth's will.

Tara welcomed Hannah into her home and her daughter, Cassie, is so excited to have a cousin/sister relationship with Hannah.

The book doesn't really pick up pace until about 60%. You keep reading tidbits of what happened long ago between Beth and Tara until the full story finally comes out. It does have many twists at this point.

The Girl in Your Hose was an unputdownable book. I flew through the chapters trying to figure out the ending. This thriller completely drew me in and did not disappoint. One twist after another. I definitely recommend this book to others. Many thanks to NetGalley and to Bookouture for the ARC.

Tara's estranged sister has died in a house fire, leaving her teenage niece Hannah with no guardian. Shocked and confused, Tara finds out she is Hannah's legal guardian, and before she knows it, she's picking her up and bringing her into the home she shares with her pre-teen daughter Cassie. It's an uneasy arrangement, and make matters worse, it seems that Tara and her family are a target. A fire is set in her garden and threatening notes begin arriving. Someone knows what Tara did all those years before, and they're going to make sure she pays.

I flew through this tense, unsettling story that had several noteworthy twists. While I was able to predict the main twist, it did not take away from my enjoyment of the plot, and the layer upon layer of family drama really enhanced the writing. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my early copy. Publishes September 2, 2022.

Wow weee... First let me thank the lovely folks at #NetGalley for this ARC and to Georgina Cross, for sharing this book with me!

So, the book opens up with a mother trapped in a house fire and then eventually succumbs to the fire. Your are introduced to her sister, Tara, and Tara's daughter, Cassie. The two sisters have been estranged for many years and Tara's 12 year old daughter does not even know that she had an Aunt or, a cousin named Hannah (16yo), who now has to live with them. Not knowing each other well, they are girls that seem to have a great relationship while Tara is being plagued with insane anxiety due to some historic tragedy that is the whole reason for the estrangement. It is all very cryptic until you get to the point you want to throw the book across the room. Just wait, I promise it does get better!

However by the time it does, you as the reader are exhausted. The book will wrap up, with the most insane ending. That there is a really good chance that you do not seeing it coming is one of the few reasons I finished this book, other then that mama didn't raise a quitter!! You are shown the full past, because there are so many layers, you feel like you'll never be done. The reader is left quite literally, what the hell did I just read??

It was a solid 3.5 out of 5! I liked that I could not see the ending coming because thriller books become less of a thrill when you already know who did it and how they will go down. Its no fun at all. Also, this does not end on a warm and fuzzy note by any means. Another plus for this girl! I doesn't end on a cliff hanger, but more of a realistic ending for the totally unreal situation that the characters are thrown into. It's a good read, but is a little hard to stick with.

It is hard to stick with because it is so terribly unbelievable. The characters are too dramatic and sound like they are all basically clueless. I remember watching cheesey horror flicks where I ended up with a headache from too many facepalms! This book is the paper version of that movie! The main character, and a mother to boot, needs a crash course in adulting and common sense. Who does not ask to see ID?! But, I digress. Read the book, it will kill a rainy afternoon into evening. You wont lose sleep if you don't finish it by then.

I absolutely loved this twisty disturbing book. I absolutely love Georgina's stories and this one is no exception.

In a tent while camping I read this story in one sitting. So much drama and suspense. The ending was probably the biggest shock of the whole story.

A definite must for readers who enjoy fast thrill rides.

Thanks bookouture and netgalley.
