This was a sweeping and fantastic end to the Gilded duology. Marissa Meyer kept me on the edge of my seat with a narrative both dark and delightful.
cant wait to read the full book, this preview was great but i want the rest of the story! the first book was good and im excited to see where this story goes now.
So excited for the next book in this duology after reading this! I felt like Gilded was long and drawn out so I really hope there's more action in Cursed. I feel like this book took off running and is already way more excited than it predecessor. Can't wait to read the whole thing!
Cursed kept me spell bound, and I was compelled to keep reading. The writing style was consistent and used precise words so that exposition didn't slow the pace. Like always Meyer does not disappoint. I preordered a copy.
CURSED
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ amazing conclusion to the Gilded duology!

I love Marissa Meyer’s writing and creativity in this epic, dark fairytale. I’ve honestly never read anything like it. There were a few plot points that I guessed, but so many times my mind was like “how is this going to end?!”
The pacing was sometimes a little slow. I didn’t mind very much because the abundance of detail really took this book from a simple fairytale retelling to an unctuous creation of German folklore.
This book is the second in a duology by queen of fairy-tale retellings, Marissa Meyer. Serilda continues to fight against the Ehrlekonig in her struggle to free the children held captive by him. She also struggles with whether or not to let Gild know that he is the father of the child growing inside her.
Do not read this without reading the first book. You will be completely lost. Having said that, this second book was very-well written and I loved the way the story wraps up in the end. Very satisfying!
Really made me excited to read the second book of this series. The first one was an instant fave. Meyer really is the best author doing retellings right now.
Cursed picks up right where Gilded left us - Serilda is about to marry the Erlking in order to protect the children he stole on his last hunt. I am so invested in this Rumplestiltskin retelling!
Serilda’s storytelling ability, and the way author Marissa Meyer weaves these stories and legends into the main plot, continues to be one of my favorite parts of this story.
This short sample was just a taste of the book to come and I can’t wait to finish the rest of the story!
The Cursed Sampler gives us an amazing introduction to the second book. Gilded was another wonderful retelling brought to us by Marissa Meyer and Cursed seems like it's going to be just as strong. The sampler did it's job in making me more excited for the second in the series!
Great preview to Marissa Meyer's latest installment. Creative and looking forward to reading this book.
I didn't realize this was book 2 in a duology until after I snagged thr sample and while I do feel a little spoiled, it really hooked me back into Marissa Meyer's fairytale retelling. Can't wait to read both in earnest!
What a great start to a book! I loved Gilded and I'm so excited to read Cursed. This sampler only made me extra excited!! I literally cannot wait to read this whole book.
As always, the samplers are just enough of a tease to make you want to read the book. Cursed is a continuation to the book Gilded and I jumped into it eagerly wanting to see how the story would resolve itself. Obviously, this is only a sampler and I won't get my resolution from this but I can definitely recommend that for those who enjoyed Gilded, this seems to be a strong follow-up.
Thank you to NetGalley for this quick peek into the novel Cursed.
I'm interested in this a lot more than I thought I would be. I can't wait to get my hands on this and read it!! It's going to fulfill my need for fairytale retellings.
A big thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for gifting me an eSampler in exchange for an honest.
No thoughts. Only screams. I need the rest of the book. Like now.
While just a sampler of CURSED, Marissa Meyer has again caught my attention and earned my loyalaty to her new series. I loved the sample. Now I'm buying the book.
I enjoyed reading this sampler. It makes me excited to read the whole Cursed story once it comes out! Marissa Meyer has a beautiful writing style.
When I saw that I could get a sampler of the sequel to Gild, by Marissa Meyer, I was expecting maybe a chapter or two. 5 chapters later and I was completely re-absorbed into the world of Gild and Serilda. All I can say is that I absolutely cannot wait to read the rest of this book when it's released and find out what the Erlking has in store for our unlikely heroine.
I fell in love with Marissa Meyer’s retellings of fairy tales when I was asked to review Cinder in Los Angeles Review of Books (7/10/2012). I lost track of Cinder and her friends but then rediscovered them in audiobook format. Now Meyer takes on her own delicious, complex adaptation of Rumpelstiltskin and The Elf King, first with Gilded and now its sequel, Cursed. This sample offers a sneak peek into what comes next for Serilda, the ghostly children she has sworn to protect, and the poltergeist, Gild, who doesn’t know he’s the lost prince of the castle. As with her previous stories, it’s clear from the opening chapters that Meyer’s characters are wonderfully vivid, fallible, and complex. I love that her women don’t wait around to be rescued. Like Cinder, Serilda is smart, tough, tender, and determined. She’s also a gifted storyteller whose tales enchant everyone who hears them. The stories themselves become characters with the power to move hearts and alter reality.
This sampler definitely left me hungering for the whole book!
A huge Thank You to The author, The publisher and NetGalley for providing the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
Looking forward to reading the whole book, but by the looks and feels of the sampler, I can't wait!
