Thanks to Netgalley and Random House Children’s for the ARC of this!

This series is getting even better, think Series of Unfortunate Events x Goosebumps - a little weird, a little mystery, some missing parents, and a little spook! I am enjoying them so much, and I’ve got my 9 year old buddy reading with me, and she’s been excitingly telling me her thoughts, even my 6 year old is enjoying listening to the audiobook. Definitely recommend and I can’t wait for more in the series!

Camp Creepy is the third book in Kierstan White’s middle grade series that is described as a mix between Scooby Doo and The Series of Unfortunate Events. This is a very accurate description. If you are a fan of either, this is a must read series!

I have read both of the previous books so I really enjoyed this one! They definitely build in each other so it’s important to try and read them in order. This one is probably the least over the top of the three but that’s very much on purpose since this takes place and a very normal, normal, normal camp.

This is a series I plan on buying because I think it’s one my kids would absolutely love. The characters are fun without feeling super complex so a young reader could absolutely have a self insert moment with whichever character they liked the most! I could see me as a young reader making Theo my entire personality!

Rating : 4 out of 5

Blurbs :
After leaving the Sanguine Spa in pursuit of Edgaren't, the kids find themselves at a mysterious summer camp, Camp Creek. There are lake games and happy counselors, and there's even a tie-dye cabin. It's all very . . . normal.

But if Theo and Alexander know one thing, it's that normal doesn't always mean good. When everyone around her starts acting strange, Theo wonders if maybe the fumes from the tie-dye cabin are seeping into their brains, and she resolves to investigate what's really going on at Camp Creek.

The third book in #1 New York Times bestselling author Kiersten White's Sinister Summer series continues the adventures of the Sinister-Winterbottoms and their aunt, who never saw a discount vacation destination she didn’t love.

Thoughts : This book just take right after the event that happened in the second book. This book is even better than the second book. It's full of more TMIs and twisty shits happened in this book. Wil, Alexander, and Theo (especially Theo)’s character’s growth are insane. I really love their bond. I also love their friendship with the other families’ children. Quincy’s better be a good girl now. So far, we follow seven characters : Wil, Alexander, Theo, Edgar, Quincy, Mina, Lucy, Henry. Can’t wait to find the other two families’ sons or daughters. This is one of the best middle-grade series I’ve ever read. I hope for even better story and plot in the fourth book later! I will also wait for the ARC of the fourth book from Delacorte Press.
Thank you Netgalley and Delacorte Press for the ARC.

Camp Creepy (Sinister Summer, #3) by Kiersten White has an expected publication date of January 3, 2023 and is the third book in a middle grade series. The Sinister-Winterbottoms are in pursuit of Edaren't and find themselves at a summer camp that is as mysterious as it is very normal. When all the campers begin acting strange, and Theo decides to investigate.

Thank you to NetGalley, Random House Children's, and Delacorte Press for the advanced copy of Camp Creepy (Sinister Summer, #3) by Kiersten White. I was excited to be approved to read this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

Not having read the other two novels in the Sinister Summer book series, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I thought this being a children's book, it would be relatively easy to garner the back story and keep the characters straight. I did have trouble connecting the dots as far as the back story goes, but I eventually got the gist of it. And, it did take me a few chapters to keep the main characters clear in my head. I think what threw me was that Theo is a girl, not a guy. The author finally revealed that Theo's full name was Theodora approximately halfway into the book. It also threw me that Wil was a girl as well.

Camp Creepy has a similar vibe to Ransom Riggs' Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children series and Trenton Lee Stewart's The Mysterious Benedict Society series. Because I had to play catch up in this book, it was just okay for me. I think if I had read the first two books, I would have enjoyed it much more than I did. What I loved about the book is that the take away lesson is to always be yourself and not be ashamed of what you like to do.

Four out of five stars is what I gave Camp Creepy (Sinister Summer, #3) by Kiersten White. I may give the first two books a whirl and will likely read the next book in the series, and there will be another book as this one ended in a bit of a cliffhanger.

I love this series so much. It's cute, funny, heartfelt, and mysterious and I can't get enough! Theo is brave and reckful and Alexander is cautious and observant. The duo, along with the friends they make along the way, give a fun atmosphere to the story and keep things interesting.

This installment answers a couple questions and starts to give backstory to the missing parents and what's really going on with these villains and the books. I can't wait to see what the next sinister book brings for Theo, Alexander, and their ragtag crew!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for the copy

Part Scooby-Doo, part A Series of Unfortunate Events? Yes, please!

Summary:
Follow the Sinister-Winterbottoms on their most outrageous adventure yet, when they find themselves at a normal summer camp!

After leaving the Sanguine Spa in pursuit of Edgaren’t, the kids find themselves at a mysterious summer camp, Camp Creek. There are lake games and happy counselors, and there’s even a tie-dye cabin. It’s all very . . . normal.

But if Theo and Alexander know one thing, it’s that normal doesn’t always mean good. When everyone around her starts acting strange, Theo wonders if maybe the fumes from the tie-dye cabin are seeping into their brains, and she resolves to investigate what’s really going on at Camp Creek.

My thoughts:
This was a fun read, but I definitely wish I hadn’t tried to start with the third :) I think this is one of those series where each book answers 1-2 questions about the overarching mystery, but leaves you with 3-4 new ones. Sometimes I love that, but sometimes it drives me bonkers. You've been warned 😆

If you’re a fan of the supernatural elements of A Series of Unfortunate Events or Miss Perrigrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, you’ll love this one!

** “His mom always insisted that being your own self was better than being a self other people wanted you to be.” **

Kiersten White delivers another delightful book with “Camp Creepy,” the third installment in her Sinister Summer series.

Picking up immediately after the second book, the Sinister-Winterbottom siblings Wil and twins Alexander and Theo have just left the Sanguine Spa, still on the search for their missing parents. They arrive at Camp Creek, a place where “everyone is having an absolute exclamation mark of a perfect summer.”

But everyone’s too perfect and cheery behavior worries the twins, especially when older sister Wil seems to have also been brainwashed. Can they overcome the personality adjustments, learn the truth of Camp Creek, reveal its past mystery, and find their parents?

“Camp Creepy” is a zany tale that will appeal to all ages. It’s filled with mystery and humor and suspense. White does a great job of developing really fun characters filled with moxie and determination, as well as some less-than-desirable ones too.

She also includes some great themes, like the importance of having a team for support; loving each other in spite of our flaws; we should be able to choose our own likes and whom we want to be; understanding our differences; and fear can actually be a good thing (“Sometimes being scared helps us know what’s important to us”).

Due out Jan. 3, fans of series like Lemony Snicket and James Patterson’s “Treasure Hunters” series will love this story and its fun tone.

Five stars out of five.

With shades of A Series of Unfortunate Events, Camp Creepy is the third book in the Sinister Summer series. I enjoyed this novel much more than the previous books in this series. The mystery deepens and a new villain is introduced. Camp Creepy offers really creepy activities for the campers. Theo is on her own trying to figure out the mysterious goings on. She learns of a connection between her parents and a summer camp that they attended years prior. Next stop in Theo and Alexander's sinister summer: the Stein Manor Science Camp of Mr. Frank and Dr. Stein!

Second book of this series that I’ve read. Not really creepy, but witty, and a solid continuation of the storyline.

The third Sinister Summer book finds the Sinister-Bottom kids going to camp. When they arrive though, they find that everyone seems too happy. As they work to stay themselves, they start to uncover more about their parents and the mystery there.

Another great entry! I've been enjoying this series a lot, and I can't wait to see where these books take me next. Such an interesting concept.

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the next installment in the Sinister Summer series and quite possibly my favorite so far. I have enjoyed each book in this series and I love how they keep building on the previous one. This is definitely a series that needs to be read in order.

This book in particular stuck out to me because we got a lot of interactions between all of the Sinister-Winterbottom siblings as well as their friends they’ve made along the way. This one also did a great job of showing some growth amongst Theo, Alexander, and Wil.

I’m really excited to see where this series goes next! This book answered some questions but raised a whole lot of new ones so I will be impatiently waiting for book 4.

This is one of my new favorite middle-grade series! It's described as a mix between Scooby-Doo and A Series of Unfortunate Events and I would say that is 100% accurate!

Theo and Alexander are a little bit at odds in this story, Theo loves everything about the camp, and Alexander hates it. While I find my personality runs somewhere in between the twins, I'm definitely more of an Alexander... I prefer reading and watching, and there are a lot of things that I want to.. want to do if you know what I mean. So when he arrives at the camp and is just having the worst time, and watching his sister have the best time I really felt for him, and I loved getting more from Theo's point of view when she realizes all the things that her brother has to deal with daily, and how much she loves who he is and doesn't want him to be anything different.

In the third book, we find the Sinister-Winterbottom's arriving at Camp-Creek, they are only planning on being there long enough to track down Edgarent and Quincy and the items that were stolen in the last book Vampiric Vacation. However, the Camp has other plans... The twins are told to expect a perfectly normal summer camp experience. Tie-dye, rope swings, buffet-style dining, and campfires filled with smores! This all sounds perfect for Theo is the braver more adventurous of the twins, however, this all sounds absolutely horrible to Alexander, whose idea of a good time is curling up with a good book, eating things that are prepackaged so there is no chance at contamination, and cheering for Theo as she has fun. And even though they are there to snoop and find Quincy, Theo wants to have a bit of fun too... but when she notices that Alexander is acting like a completely different person, she knows it's up to her to figure out what's going on, fix her brother... and hopefully escape.

I absolutely can't wait to continue this series and see what kind of place the Sinister-Winterbottom's will be going to next!

CAMP CREEPY is the 3rd in the exciting SINISTER SUMMER Series for middle-graders (but exciting for adults too) in which our intrepid temporarily-orphaned Sinister-Winterbottom children are shuffled from one site to another while endeavoring to locate their missing parents, while avoiding being preyed on by a delightfully evil-minded gentleman they nickname "Edgararen't." After surviving a strange Waterpark and a vampiric spa, now they find themselves at a Stepfordish children's summer camp. It's essential to avoid losing their individual personalities to the cookie-cutter intent of this strange camp. My favorite aspect was the ongoing character evolution as the children first identify their strengths and weaknesses, and work to improve and individualize.

I'm really enjoying this fun middle grade series. Theo and Alexander continue on their summer of simmering tension and mystery, this time at summer camp. White continues to do a spectacular job enboding the different ways of feeling and responding to adventure, tension, and the world in general with her two very different and very endearing lead characters. As someone with an inner monologue that sounds a lot like Alexander's, I'm particularly fond of his arc in this edition.

An unusual sort of story about atypical children in a magic-like world (not fairytale magical) where things of a different or odd type happen to take place. Cars can disappear while people ride in them, a mother can have a bottomless purse, and vampires are possible, but in a previous adventure (most likely not this one).

The three Sinister-Winterbottom children are looking for items their Aunt believes are very important. Hopefully leading to where their parents are (after dropping them off at her house). And, it seems that the parents of other unusual children are also missing; possibly not lost, but their location is not known.

Wil, Alexander, and Theo, are going to Camp Creek ("the summer every child should have") for a brief visit, not a summer vacation. And because Aunt Safronia's car nearly disappeared before stopping short, their friend Edgar gave them a ride the rest of the way. The camp appears too normal; too ideal, too cheerful, too tie-dyed. Edgaren't was involved, so they knew something was very, very, wrong.

Now, Theo has discovered the camp's evil secret--mind control! And even worse, she has to pretend to have fun, smile, and speak only in cheerfully enthusiastic exclamations, or become one of the victims! But then, who would un-brainwash her siblings and others? She learns even more horrifying truths...at the perfect summer camp; Camp Creep!

3/5 Stars

Camp Creepy is the third book in the Sinister Summer series. It has strong A Series of Unfortunate Events vibes which is a good thing. Alexander comes across as such a relatable character for me, his anxiety is very familiar. The rest of the group is equally well-written. I thought it was a fun mystery with the added bonus of summer camp and tie-dyes. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Thank you so much to Random House Children's Books for letting me read this early!

I love this series so much!

I think this installment of the Sinister Summer series might be my favorite since I've been wanting something to read that takes place during summer and at a camp no less! I want to thank Kiersten White for actually making me feel seen in Alexander and how he lives with anxiety and just is introverted. It felt like looking into my own brain and i really loved that. I've rarely felt seen in terms of mental health in books and this was perfect. I especially getting to follow along with Theo as she saves everyone and we see her overcome her fears.

I will continue to recommend anyone this series who adores a good mystery!

I can't get enough of this series! White combines a wonderfully peculiar atmosphere with well-developed characters and an overarching mystery that builds and builds. I cannot wait for the next installment!

The third book in the series follows the Sinister-Winterbottom children as this time they find themselves going to camp.... also called Camp Creepy. They were expecting a fun summer but what they get is a summer camp that is normal... too normal. Strange things begin to happen as their siblings are changing and now they’ll have to figure whats going on before it’s too late. This was a interesting read filled with fun summer camp vibes, mystery, and a bit of scooby-doo meets a series of unfortunate events for young readers.
