A friends to lovers, rom com - two of my favorite things with a slow burn. I enjoyed the dual perspective and reading from Liam's side perspective. It definitely reads YA but it was still fun. I'm a big fan of the reality TV trope (i LOVED One to Watch) so I really enjoyed this as well. It definitely had its cheesy moments but what YA rom com doesn't it still had me smiling at my phone. Definitely recommend!

Give me a Kaitlyn Hill novel, and I am sure to enjoy it!

Sloane is the middle child, and thus, she feels she gets the least attention. Flying out to LA to hang with her childhood best friend Liam, she's thrilled to relax and have adventures. What she doesn't expect is landing a role on Aspen Wood's Future Leading Lady. Think Bachelor but for younger audiences!

Liam is tied into being a part of the production team for the show. Sloane is roped into being a contestant on the show. But as the journey continues, feelings start to change. And they both have to answer the question: Can they just stay friends?

I enjoyed reading Not Here to Stay Friends and recommend this young adult read for those who love reality television or friends to lovers stories. The competition plot was fast moving, and the side characters involved enticing. I enjoyed the dual point of view format however; I wish I got more out of Sloane besides her hate at not getting enough attention. I found myself rooting for Liam at the end of the novel. Overall, I cannot wait to read whatever Kaitlyn Hill puts out next!

This was the definition of a rom-com...and that is about all I am interested in anymore. I loved the escape this book gave me and I highly recommend it.

📖 ARC REVIEW 📖

Thank you @delacortepress for an early copy of Not Here to Stay Friends by @thekaitlynhill. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. 🤍

Not Here to Stay Friends is a YA friends-to-lovers novel about Sloanne and Liam, who both end up working on a teen reality dating show, with Sloanne being one of the contestants and Liam working as an assistant. What was supposed to be them spending their summer together turns complicated, with reel-to-real drama.

This novel has got one of the sweetest slow burns I have ever read. The pacing didn’t feel all that slow, as Sloanne and Liam’s attraction for each other felt so, so natural. Their pining, sexual tension, love, and longing for each other throughout the entire novel was sweet and delightful and made me feel all kinds of *kilig*; oh what joy it is to fall in love in your teens *sigh*. I especially loved Liam’s friendship, and regardless of his romantic feelings for Sloanne, he goes out of his way to be extra supportive of her.

I loved how the story played out and the irony of it set on filming a reality TV show and yet there’s a lot of mystery and drama going on behind the scenes – overall it was hilarious that I couldn’t even put down the book. The new-found friendship of all the characters, Sloanne’s fellow contestants, Liam’s newfound friend Garret, and the producer Kristi, were all a delight; I enjoyed their spirit of camaraderie and support for each other towards the end. Aspen, on the other hand, was the character I loved to hate. I commend the author for being able to express in a few words every time Aspen speaks and does something how he’s just so fake that I loved to hate him.

This is a really enjoyable YA novel, and I’m rating it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5. Releases April 4th, 2023!

*kilig - a feeling of exhilaration or elation caused by an exciting or romantic experience

"I'm her happiest memory. Which I can appreciate, since she's at the center of all of mine."

Swoooonn! This sweet, funny, unique YA romance had me smiling from ear to ear and laughing throughout. I'm a big fan of friends to lovers and Kaitlyn Hill executed it perfectly! I liked Sloan and Liam from the start and loved their sweet friendship. I only wish we could have seen more of it!

As the other reviewers have said, if you enjoy The Bachelor you'll enjoy this YA spin. It kept me hooked and turning the pages. I didn't see the ending coming and absolutely loved it.

If YA romance is your thing, I definitely recommend!

Thanks so much to Random House Children's and NetGalley for the eARC!

This was a cute and unique YA rom-com! I loved the Bachelor-esque backdrop that set up some dramatic points in the story. However - the reality show dating isn't the focus - so if that's the reason you pick up the book, you may be a tad disappointed.

I always love a good friends to lovers trope! But, I had a hard time finding the stakes in this book and never felt like it wasn't going to work out between Sloan and Liam - it just needed a little more tension for me.

Loved the dual POV! I was just expecting a little more out of the book to love it.

*Thank you Random House Children’s and Netgalley for this ARC!

Thank you netgalley for the ARC. This was such a cute young adult rom com! Sloane and Liam have been best friends since they were kids. One summer when Sloane goes to visit Liam in California, she ends up on a dating reality TV show last minute where Liam happens to be a production assistant. The way Liam cares for Sloane throughout the entire book was so sweet! I would definitely recommend this book! Read if you like a friends to lovers trope, a fan of the Bachelor and if you the Selection Series!

This book was a delightful YA romance! I loved it as an adult, and I know that I would have been *obsessed* with it if I had read it in middle or high school. I am definitely aging myself with these comparisons, but Not Here to Stay Friends was a bit reminiscent of Win a Date With Tad Hamilton, Laguna Beach, and of course, The Bachelor.

While the main plot focuses on Liam and Sloane and their developing feelings for each other, equal attention should be paid to the sub-plot that focuses on Sloane’s relationships with the other girls on the show. It should serve as a refreshing reminder to young readers that when girls work together, they can achieve great things.

When Sloane lands in LA, she is looking forward to spending her summer with her childhood best friend, Liam. She soon discovers two things: The first is that Liam has had a glow up that causes her to see him in a different light. The second is that her plans for the summer will need to be put on hold, since Liam has been tasked with a job as a PA on the set of a new reality show his dad is producing… a reality dating show based on the “scripted-reality teen drama” titled The Cove, which just so happens to be one of Sloane’s favorites. When a casting error leaves the show one girl short, Sloane quickly finds herself competing for the affection of Aspen Woods, all while she’s secretly pining for Liam’s affections instead.

Really sweet and creative romance, Perfect in the modern age of reality tv. Love a good childhood best friends to lovers.

The show part is like the Bachelor but better and for teens. Loved getting to see how Sloane and Liam navigate things while she is on the show. Liam’s dad is so frustrating sometimes but it all turns out really positively.

Would recommend, would buy, would read again.

This one was so wholesome and cute! I loved the friendship between Liam and Sloane. I also enjoyed the reality tv show aspect. It was fun getting to see Sloane interacting with the other girls competing as well as the dates with Asher. I think this is a sweet romcom for any teen or YA romance fan can enjoy.

Thank you for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

WOW! This book was so cute and sweet, and I’m just having all the feels after finishing it. The book has two of my favorite things which is friends to lovers trope as well as The Bachelor themed idea. I didn’t expect to like this book as much as I did considering I’ve never really read YA romances. But this book was amazing! The storyline was so cute and fun, the characters will make you laugh, and the love story is unbeatable! I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading this book!

My final rating is 4/5 stars!

This was a fun friends to lovers summer romance set around a reality dating competition where childhood best friends Sloane and Liam are reunited for the summer only to have Sloane coopted to participate in Liam's dad's new dating show. Sloane has to figure out her growing feelings for Liam while being wooed by the show lead, Aspen Woods - a famous television actor.

Full of heart and a lot of complicated feelings, I really enjoyed this YA romance. Great on audio too narrated by one of my favs, Brittney Pressley and new to me narrator Steven Molony. Many thanks to @prhaudio for a complimentary ALC and NetGalley for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review. Recommended for fans of Never ever getting back together by Sophie Gonzales.

I have been on a kick of readings books with similar themes/topics recently. This is the third book this month I have read with a reality tv show premise. I also read Julia Argy's, The One and Real Love by Rachel Lindsay.

Net Here to Stay Friends unlike the other two is a YA Novel. In fairness to the author, it is exactly that a YA Novel. I enjoyed the premise that Sloane was finally getting her summer with her bestie Liam. She had a whole list of activities planned (I suspect it would have taken up the entire summer and then some). However, her hopes are quickly dashed when Liam tells her he is going to be working all summer long. All of a sudden, their summer of fun is shrunken down to summer nights of fun.

One perk is that Liam is working on the set of their all time favorite show The Cove, which is filming a reality tv show with its leading man, Aspen Woods (what a name!), who is looking for love. Unlike many other shows about teenagers that use 20 something year old actors, The Cove actually had teenage cast members. Oh and by chance, a girl has dropped out at the last minute? Convinced by Liam's father to fill in, Sloane is whisked away into the world of reality tv. Sloane knows she's only doing it for a chance to further her career in screen writing, but it doesn't hurt that Aspen is easy on the eyes.

As the competition gets underway, Sloane and Liam are forced to confront their under the surface complicated friendship. I actually really enjoy watching reality tv. It's a great background tv show for me and something that helps me unwind and zone out for a bit. So, of course I enjoyed the aspects of the book that related to filming, production, the challenges, etc. I also enjoyed the characters. There are a few fun twists and turns that I didn't expect in the challenges that kept me intrigued. All in all, this is a solid read and I hope to read more by Kaitlyn Hill in the future.

A huge thank you to @netgalley and @delacorte press for granting me access to the novel and to @prhaudio for granting me access to the audiobook. I enjoyed both formats!

This was my first book by Kaitlyn Hill and it won't be the last - such a cute YA friends to lovers bachelor-esque romance. YA isn't usually my vibe these days, but this one was quite bingeable and I finished it in one sitting. The progression from friends to lovers was very realistic, which I loved. The ending had major bad bitch vibes and I was HERE FOR IT.

Recommend this one!

I loved this book so much I finished in a day, I love the friendship to lover trope and this one hits all of that but even better. I love Liam and Sloane friendship from the very beginning when they were little to where they are now it hit all the feels. It was worth the slow burn and I loved the epilogue to where they are now. Everything was written so beautifully great book!

I love a good Bachelor-inspired setting in a book and "Not Here to Stay Friends" is a welcome addition to that trope! Kaitlyn Hill's sophomore novel, which I personally liked more than her debut "Love from Scratch" is a super-sweet friends-to-lovers, mutual pining, YA story that I couldn't put down. With a Cyrano-esque subplot, it was a fully adorable and cute novel that was full of compelling, witty language. Oh and the empowering reality TV contestants were literally EVERYTHING I wish the IRL "Bachelor" girls are, and that's PERIOD.

I loved pretty much every single thing about this book. It was captivating, it was enchanting, it was absolutely everything you want in a YA rom com. It wasn't cheesy. It wasn't unrealistic. It wasn't cringey or over the top. I found myself dragging this book out for days. Not because it was not good, but because I was not ready to say goodbye to the characters or the story and I wanted to savor it as long as I could.

For starters, this was a cute YA friends to lovers romance. While I do love that trope, going into this book I wasn’t expecting the MCs to be so young, which sent me through a loop.

Despite that, the characters were super lovable and down-to-earth despite their age. The storyline was truly unique, although I have no love for reality shows in real life, a book about a reality dating show was hilarious albeit unrealistic.

This was Laguna Beach if it were to meet The Bachelor.

I think if I knew going into this book that it was YA, I would’ve altered my expectations, but overall it was a quick, cute read.

I enjoy bachelor / dating show type books and this was no different and throw in a friends to lovers trope. Sloan and Liam are long time friends who haven’t seen each other in awhile. Sloan goes to visit Liam for the summer and gets thrown into a dating show. I really enjoyed Sloan and Liam’s characters as well as the side characters in the book. But with a dating show there are quite a few characters introduced so took me a few to remember who was who.

But I really enjoyed this book and watching Sloan and Liam’s relationship grow.
