This book will have you guessing until the very last page. Olivia and Parks world is tipped upside down when police show up at their door to talk about a murder that they have no idea how connected they are to this horrific crime. Hold on to your seats!
I love J.T. Ellison, Thai one may be one of my all-time faves.

From the book ๐
Olivia Bender designs exquisite home interiors that satisfy the most demanding clients. But her own deepest desire canโt be fulfilled by marble counters or the perfect rug. She desperately wants to be a mother. Fertility treatments and IVF keep failing. And just when she feels sheโs at her lowest point, the police deliver shocking news to Olivia and her husband, Park. DNA results show that the prime suspect in a murder investigation is Parkโs son. Despite their desire, the Benders donโt have any children. Then comes the confession. Many years ago, Park donated sperm to a clinic. He has no idea how many times it was soldโor how many children he has sired.
Ps. Itโs over 20+. He has super sperm ๐งช

This book is crazy insane and Iโm not going to delve too much into it since itโs not out for another 6 months. But the chapters are told from diff POVs and Iโve given you a small taste of the characters below;โจย The wife - Sheโs a little naive. But donโt sleep on Olivia Bender. Sheโs a badass. Just wait.
The husband - heโs questionable. A true narcissist. Always has a good reason why โฆ and somehow you can almost believe him.
The Past - best chapters of the book.
The Daughter - downright genius.
The Mother - sheโll make you say, well damn.
The Detectives - play a great role. Youโll love their interactions.
This is one of those books when youโre reading it you think youโve guessed it. And the next chapter makes you re-question it all. Def not anything youโve read before โค๏ธ

I loved this book, of course JT Ellison never disappoints. The subject matter is a very difficult one and she handled it very well. That ending was something I never saw coming!
I was hooked on the DNA angle and the disturbing possibility of โfatheringโ a serial killer! I felt like this plot line is up and coming, but this was a first, fresh and original one. I really liked the major twist at the end. The middle portion dragged a little. The story is centered around a married couple, dealing with infertility issues, in light of the husband finding out that his sperm donation may have spawned a killer. Dun dun dun! The story jumped from POV to POV, that it made it difficult to invest in a characterโs journey. I wanted to like the main couple, but felt like they didnโt like one another, there was zero chemistry in their interactions and made sympathizing with their troubles difficult.
JT Ellisonโs ITโS ONE OF US is a deep, thoughtful read with great characters that is unputdownable! Loved the twists you never see coming.
JT Ellison is an auto-buy author for me and I loved how personal this one was. Her author's note at the end of the book really made the whole book for me. The premise was intriguing and I liked that the heroine was smart and the book wasn't filled with tropes. A solid thriller!
I loved this book! So many twists and turns. I kept guessing and guessing and I could not figure out the ending. The book was very well written and the character development was on point. I highly recommend this book to others! Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for the ARC.

IT'S ONE OF US was one of the most engaging, all-consuming books I've read this year. The prologue is stark, terrifying, and told from the point of view of a detached narrator, and I was hooked immediately.
Olivia Bender desperately wants to be a mother. She and her husband Park have gone through countless rounds of IVF, but the blood always comes. On the day she miscarries yet again, the police at her door with news of a murder investigation. She is stunned; puzzled. What do she and Park have to do with this young woman's death? DNA found at the scene is a familial match to Park--his son.
A son not born of a secret affair but from a sperm donation to a reputable clinic--or so Park thought. Turns out his sperm was used countless times, and he has sired a staggering number of children, many of whom have been in communication on Discord. As the murder investigation becomes more intense, more scrutiny is placed on Park and his past that has more than one dead woman in it.
A fascinating exploration of the MAOA and CDH13 genes, called the "Murder Gene", which argues that killers can be born with a gene that makes them commit violent acts. I love the nature vs. nurture debate, and this book skillfully explored this dark territory with ease. This was a gripping, absolutely unputdownable read that will stay with you long after the final words.
Please make sure to read the author's notes in which she goes into detail about her own struggle with infertility and how it contributed to this book. I can already tell you this is going in my top ten reads of the year. Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for my early read. Publishes February 28, 2023.
I absolutely loved this book. Couldnโt put it down. It kept you guessing till the very end. Itโs how lies and secrets can destroy you. Put this on your must read list.
This powerful story of family, trust, love was so well written. Olivia and Parkโs struggle to have a baby was absolutely heart wrenching to read about. All the secrets and twists in on story made keep turning the page. So damn good!
Another hit from J.T. Ellison. This will be recommended to library patrons as a psychological thriller delving into the world of sperm donors.
