This was a good book with lovable characters. I love how Charlie was willing to help Rosalind to finish all the items on her list and the creative ways they did it. I also liked that as they spent time together and worked on this list Rosalind found out she wanted more from life then an arranged marriage. I loved watching their romance develop and how it took a while for them to realize that they felt more for each other then just friendship. A very enjoyable story.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
I loved the set up for this and enjoyed the whole story and hope there are more with the other characters.
I thoroughly enjoy the Proper Romance genre and there were elements of this story that were pleasing, but ultimately a woman mature enough for marriage seems to be acting as a child to follow through with a list she created as a 12 year old. Adventures with friends are worth pursuing and the main character did learn along the way, but I would have enjoyed a more mature approach.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I LOVED Rose and Charlie! They have become one of my favorite book couples. Rosalind the proper lady and Charlie the rouge one. These two cross paths in their crazy journeys and help each other find the courage to look deep and act on the future they want.
The action in this had me on the edge of my seat! It was perfectly done!
I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever smiled so hard at the ending to a book. It was so sweet. You’ll be jumping up and down literally rooting out loud for these two that were meant to be together the whole time!
Thank you NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read and review this beautiful book!
Miss Newbury's List is about Rosalind Newbury who has signed a marriage contract to marry a duke. This will raise her families social standings. She doesn't know the duke very well but assumes that it will not be so bad to get married and then grow into love. However, she finds a list she created a while back and realizes that she should finish the list before she gets married. This will help her prepare to get married. However, little did she know that the list will take her on a wild adventure where she finds the love of her life. Is it the duke?
This book was the definition of proper romance with a few unique characteristics. I loved that this was not a cookie cutter proper romance. The chemistry between Rosalind and Charlie is beautiful. I thought the story gave us every detail about this story we could possibly need. This for the most part was a good thing. However, there were just a few instances that I thought this novel added unnecessary scenes. I also felt there were a few phrases that were added that I do not know if they would have been used during the time. Otherwise, it was amazing!

I loved this author's debut novel Lakeshire Park and have been patiently waiting for another book from her. I loved this sweet romance although life got in the way of my reading and it took me a few days to finish it.
Ros is engaged to be married to a Duke and has a bucket list she'd like to accomplish before her wedding because once she's a Duchess with the eyes of Society on her at all times she'll have to be prim and proper. Her bestie Liza is there to help her, along with Liza's brother Charlie who's currently in hot water with his family and trying to work himself back into their good graces.
I loved watching Ros and Charlie cross things off of her list and wondered how long it was going to take before they realized they were falling in love. Then what would Ros do about her engagement to the Duke? Breaking an engagement led to consequences in Society.
Like all the Proper Romance books this is a sweet romance and of course there's a happily ever after. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts expressed in this review are my own.
This is an adorable regency clean romance novel by Meghan Walker, Miss Rosalind Newbury was brilliant and beautiful when she was engaged to the Duke of Marlow arranged by her parents. Rosalind was making this decision to get married because her family bordered prime farmland that they owned which was one of the Duke's estates. The Duke wanted the land and Rosalind's family desired his title to bolster the family name. Rosalind was wild, free, and full of adventure, and Alice her aunt wanted her to live her life fully first. Rosalind's Aunt encouraged her to create a list of 10 things to do that she wanted to experience before her wedding. One of the items on her list was to learn how to swim. Lisa her best friend is the only one she trusted with her list. Rosalind went swimming alone in a pond and there she accidentally drowned -almost died, from which she is saved by Charlie Winston, a boxer, Ros's best friend Lisa's cousin who is back in the countryside from London. Mr. Winston helps her out of the pond by saving her life.
She hardly knew the duke and was doubtful that she was going to get married to him and Rosalind was the only one who could bring a title to the family. Rosalind has to choose between her family's expectations of love and her spark with romantic moments with Charles Winston as she completes the items that are dangerous and risky in the list that would make her happy.
I received a complimentary copy to review for my honest opinion. Thanks to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing. This book will warm readers' hearts and I highly recommend it.
This book was such a delightful read! I thought the setting was just wonderful and really enjoyed delving into the rural regency world. The characters were so great and Rosalind was so warm and so lovely. I loved how the plot played out and all the adventures and escapades that the characters got up to throughout. I thought Charlie was so swoony and rooted for him so much! All round a lovely book and I definitely recommend!
I had heard good things about this author so requested it without reading the blurb. Couldn't get into the book. Felt almost "cheating" which I don't like. DNF
This was such a fun story! Watching Rosalind and Charlie become friends and being loving each other as they work on checking some adventures of Rosalind’s list was delightful! This book hooked me from the first chapter. I couldn’t put it down!
I feel at a loss for words.
I don’t know what to say! So this review will either be very short or very long… 😂
I’m simply IN LOVE with Miss Newbury’s List!
Just wow! It was heart-touching, beautiful, romantic, nostalgic, comforting…
Megan Walker has a way with her words that just feel like a hug for the soul! Maybe that doesn’t make sense but it’s hard to describe the feeling.
I loved Rosalind. She was a fantastic MC! I was rooting for her so much and seeing her grow throughout this story was so rewarding. I loved her determination with her list. Her fearlessness and bravery. It was applause worthy.
Her relationship with her family, was so beautiful. Truly. There’s a scene near the end with her family that literally brought me to tears. I was so emotional reading it. There is just nothing like the unconditional love of family.
Ros’s brother Ben and her best friend Liza were great supporting characters! I loved them!
Ben was a complete sweetheart. I may have loved him a little extra because my own brother’s name is Ben and it reminded me of him.
Liza was just a really great friend to Rosalind. I liked seeing her become just a little more fearless by the end of the book too!
Who’s left? Oh that’s right!
CHARLIE WINSTON!!!!!!!
Are you kidding me??
I 😍 stinking 😭 LOVE 😍him!!! 🫠
His and Ros’s relationship was just 😘🤌🏻
Amazing. Flawless. Heart BURSTING!
Watching their friendship bloom into romance was incredible. So many scenes between them will live rent free in my head for a long time to come.
You have to read this. You have to experience the list and Charlie! Trust me.

*Thank you to and for the ARC. All thoughts are my own and completely genuine.*
This was a fun story! It's a good mix of a budding friendship turns romance, damsel in distress (if you like that), and just fun characters. Enjoy!
First sentence: I leaned over the trunk at the foot of my bed in a desperate, frantic search.
Premise/plot: Miss Newbury's List is a Regency romance novel by Megan Walker. It is in the Proper Romance (clean) line of books published by Shadow Mountain. Our heroine, Rosalind Newbury, is engaged to marry the Duke of Marlow. It's not a love match--for either of them. They've only met twice. Her parents are incredibly excited--beyond thrilled--with the match. Marrying nobility is a dream that has been passed down for generations. Their daughter is the one who will make her parents dreams come true. That's good, right? Well, maybe.
Rosalind Newbury has a best friend, Liza, and Liza has a visiting cousin, Charlie. Charlie and Rosalind (or Ros) grow closer as her wedding draws near. You see, Miss Newbury has....a [bucket] list. When she was a child--perhaps ten?--she wrote a list of things [about ten???] she wanted to accomplish before she got married. Her bucket list is probably unusual for the times. First, I'm not sure anyone--male or female--wrote out "bucket lists" (not that it is ever in any way called a bucket list) of things to accomplish before marriage [or while they were young]. Second, even if men did have a "bucket" list of things they wanted to accomplish...I'm not sure young women would have. Third, the items on the list are unusual. In that almost all of the items on the list challenge the norms.
My thoughts: In all honesty, I thought all of the items on Rosalind's list were out of place, out of time, a bit off. Like is Rosalind really a young woman born circa 1800??? Or is she a twenty-first century woman wearing bonnets and petticoats? Perhaps "all" is too strong. I thought most of them were ridiculous. By extension, I then began thinking of Rosalind as ridiculous. [For example, when Rosalind decides to "learn to swim" by sneaking out early in the morning, going off by herself, and jumping into a pond having no plan, no idea, no help if things go wrong. That just seems high risk for little reward. Of course, she almost drowns and ends this whole list business.]
As for Charlie, I do like Charlie for the most part. I don't like his interest in boxing. (Though I'm guessing that aspect of sport/hobby is historically accurate). But he's a good guy.
The book is super-predictable. I typically do not mind in any way a predictable romance. I don't. The more I love the couple, the more predictability I want, expect, need.
For readers who embrace this notion of a bucket list and a free-spirited, quirky young heroine, this one offers a sweet, clean romance.
📃A list of adventures so good, it inspired me to create my own!
👩 A fun, spontaneous heroine rediscovering her sense of adventure
👨A brooding hero who never loses a fight
👨👩👧👦 Loving, loyal families that feel like a cozy hug through the pages
🧪 Amazing chemistry!
💕 A sweet story about being true to yourself and honoring your truth, which was honestly perfect for me to read right now. A great reminder that your first duty is to yourself, and you are in charge of your own happiness.
London 1820.. Rosalind Newbury, is waiting to get married. It’s the marriage her family has wanted for a long time; she will be marrying a Duke and she will become a duchess. This will elevate her family to a status, they could only hope for. But it’s a marriage of convenience and Rosalind has only met him twice. She is nervous about the future and while she waits to be married (she only has 3 weeks) she focuses on her wish list. The list of things she would like to do do in her life, before she gets married. There are 10 things on the list and she enlists her best friend and her best friends cousin to help. Liza and Charlie do their best to help Rosalind, the best they can. That includes swimming, eating treats, burning treasure and changing someone’s life. They make a great team, getting things done.. but they also raise many an eyebrow. As it comes closer to the wedding Rosalind, does not want to get married.. she just doesn’t want to disappoint her family. She is at crossroad and she needs to make a decision quick. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and how they worked together. Its not your typical Historical Fiction. This was a four star read for me. I read it quickly because I had to see how it was going to end. Miss Newbury’s List, is a delightful novel.. I want to thank Netgalley & Megan Walker for my copy, for an honest review. It was an absolute pleasure reading and reviewing it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Oh, my goodness. What an adorable and fantastic story. I loved everything about it, especially THE LIST and how Charlie helped Ros complete it. It was also a beautiful story of finding real love in the most unexpected way. The only "bad" thing about the story was that the Duke of Marlow didn't get a romance. And while I saw that he wasn't the best guy, I feel like he could have a really amazing redeption story with a strong-minded woman who would challenge his pompousness. Fingers crossed it will be a story one day.

2.5 stars. Overall, this is a sweet, fun romance about two young people finding the courage to live their own lives. However, there is a lot of tonal dissonance, especially in the second half when melodramatic elements show up without warning — a surprisingly (and violently) overprotective brother, a bloody attack by thugs, and a callous fiancé. The sketchy characterization of supporting characters and the frequent shifts from cute and silly (the opera house escapade will stay with me a long time!) to dark and desperate make this feel like a good first or second draft but not a fully realized project.
My thanks to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Rosalind Newbury is counting down the days until her wedding to the Duke of Marlow. With the wedding a few short weeks away, she is using her time to complete a list of ten things to do before she marries. The unexpected appearance of Charlie brings an unexpected ally in completing the list, but will her heart fall for the imperfect man trying to be better?
I was surprised by Rosalind’s list. She made it when she was a child and never did any of them. Never updated them. This made her pursuit seem childish, like she was not a grown young lady. It was difficult to take it seriously. I was also disappointed in the short time it took for her to fall for Charlie. It made it difficult to take their romance seriously.
Overall, the story was well-written. The details of the time period were enjoyable. I adored Rosalind’s best friend, who was sensible and reasonable.
I would recommend this to readers looking for a sweet, uncomplicated romance in the Regency era.
Ahhh! I ADORED this story! I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but if you loved Edenbrooke, you will absolutely love this one. The humor, wit, growth, and sweet romance will have you wanting to read this again and again.

I truly loved everything about this story- Rosalind with her lovely list, her authenticity and daring heart; Liza and their wonderful friendship; the completely delightful Charlie- sigh; and their families whose love and care was so wonderful. I don’t even know how to say how truly wonderful Charlie is- the way the author wrote his story, his dedication to helping Rosalind finish her list, and the way that it changed the two of them, was absolutely wonderful!
When I got to the end, I wanted more- and then there was an epilogue!
I cannot recommend this one enough- trust me- you won’t regret grabbing this one! Word to the wise- once you start, you won’t want to put it down until the last lovely page, so you may have a late night ahead of you! 💗☺️
