Well I couldn't' read this fast enough, it was perfect poolside holiday reading and that is exactly where I read it.
It's full of real descriptions of sex, as was the previous book, and incredibly real characters, that you can relate too.
I loved being back with Zara and her colleagues, and especially loved the time spent in Dubai.
There are a multitude of laugh out loud moments, in addition to some cringeworthy ones.
And Zara's ideas for the clinic she works at are inspirational.
Oh and some of her initially dating exploits I wasn't sure whether to laugh, fear for her, or cry, they were just so... actually I have no words, but probably not a glowing recommendation for Tinder!
Loved this second book about Zara and am very curious to see what this author will be bringing us next.
Thank you to Orion and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Highly unlikable character. The other characters weren’t much better. She has no morals and was incredibly annoying.
Was super hard for me to finish.
I wouldn’t recommend this book
Also, nothing happens in Dubai
Sadly, I didn't enjoy this one. The writing was just bland for me. The characters weren't the developed and the chemistry as well wasn't just kicking.
I couldn’t get into this book. The main character was overwhelmingly self-conscious and self-pitying. He relationship with men felt toxic and she did. It value herself. DNFing at this time.
As much as I tried on this one, I just could not get interested in the characters, and it made it a very slow read.
A breezy, fun read. I found Zara a bit flighty, and couldn't really relate to her. An easy read for a vacation.
This book took a bit of getting into buy once I did it was so addictive. I could not put it down. I would definitely recommend. It is very well written and the story behind the main characters is brilliant.
I’d read Glasgow Kiss so was curious to see how the story picked up from there. This book does cover similar story points and themes to Glasgow Kiss so it will be familiar to those that did like or enjoy the first book.
This was quirky and chaotic! A quick, funny read but the storyline was meh. Dialogue was cringe in places- but if you just want a silly escape, it works.
It should be known I didn't read the first book in this series. However, I was a little shocked by Zara's behaviour. I mean she tapped out tinder. I understand being a hoe and living the hoe life but I felt Zara was unsafe in her antics. And some of her heath and hygen method had a lot of be desired.’wish there was more intention with her action.
I was ready to read a book about a woman whose smart and healthy enjoying her sex life and her body instead I got a woman who didn't care who and what she had sex with and sometimes the situations were super cringy
Anyways, i struggled to get through because the content was cringy at many times
By the time Zara was making more sense the book was pretty much over. There wasn't enough sex scene that wasn't hard to read.

This book was very close to the worst thing I’ve attempted to read (the worst being 50 shades in which I only made it through a few chapters). The writing is bad and the characters are flat. Skip skip skip my Lou away from this one.
I thought this book was hilarious and it was nice to get a look into another place! I've never been to Dubai so of course I can't say if everything was accurate, but the writing kind of made me feel like a tourist. I loved our MC but there were times when I got a little frustrated with her, overall she as great.
Thank you #netgalley for an early read of #whathappensindubai
Hilarious and honest, a fantastic read that will have you laughing your socks off. Well done Sophie, another 5 star read!
I’m sorry to say that I struggled to finish this book. I couldn't relate to the characters and was not drawn into the story in the first few chapters. I like to get hooked into the storyline quickly or I lose interest. I wasn’t sure where the story was going and nothing happened to hold my interest and make me feel I wanted to keep reading.
This Book Was Not For Me 🙈
What to say.... it's not what I expected. Personally the humour wasn't really there, if you take out the sexual detail and tone down the swearing, I'd potentially put the writing style as a young adult/teen read. Not sure I'd say it's like dating in the 21st century as noted
This book was just okay for me. I felt like the main character was very similar to Bridget Jones, which is a character I never seemed to enjoy. However, I did like the authors witty, sort of “spit fire” writing. She didn’t tip toe around things such as having nightstands filled with toys and resorting to wearing dirty underwear in a rush.
Typically I can look past it if I’m not very hooked by the plot if the main characters are really great, but I have a hard time with a book when the characters aren’t people I love, regardless of how great a plot may be.
I also wonder if some of my disconnect with this book is from being a US reader. Conversations are obviously different country to country. I’m not sure if that was the barrier I was facing or if I just really didn’t feel like these characters with authentically interacting with each other.
I’ve heard many great things about A Glasgow Kiss and would still be interested in trying that book.
Due to a low rating, I will not be posting this on my Instagram account.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book!
Unfortunately the story following Zara just didnt deliver for me. At first it gets your attention but the story itself needs more development for me or more excitement. I think if it had more straight to the point areas it would of been better.
This book cover immediately caught my attention. The first chapter had me hooked with Zara and her antics, but quickly it faded out for me. I think Zara is meant to be quirky and relatable but she just doesn’t translate that way. She’s very self conscious and insecure but in an almost whiney way. I did love her friendship with Ashley! That part was very relatable.
Thank you NetGalley and Orion publishing group for a copy of this arc in exchange for my honest review!
I went into this book with no expectations, it did sound interesting and that’s why I picked it up. First off it’s called What happens in Dubai and the MC and her co workers are there just for a weekend business trip. I knew going into it the book would be “Erotica” but I really didn’t enjoy any of the sex scenes or the moments where she would overly describe bodily fluids.
I did catch myself flipping the pages invested because Zara’s life was just so crazy and always something was happening. It felt like reading a reality tv show! I also liked her and her best friend Ashley’s friendship and how they were always there for each other.
In the end I give What happens in Dubai 2 stars.
Thank you to Orion Publishing and Netgalley for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
When I saw the cover and read the title I thought this would be a really fun read. However, as soon as I opened the cover I realised this would not be the case. From the title, I was obviously expecting more of the story to actually be set in Dubai, which is why I picked up the book in the first place, but sadly it wasn't it was set in Glasgow for the most part. I think she spent about 3 days in Dubai.
The main character Zara Smith is totally unlikeable and wants to be a cross between Bridgette Jones and Samantha Jones but it just isn't working. She is immature, selfish and has the personality of a stone.
Unfortunately, this book is not at all what I set out to read, a nice romantic summer read with some hot steamy moments. I don't even know what to call it, there was a lot of sex in it but even that wasn't erotic, most of the scenes were just awful and not even remotely sexy.
Not sure if I could read another book by the authors to be honest because I didn't like the character or the writing style. Not to mention the book title is very misleading.
