Debbie Tung knows how anxiety and depression can make every day feel like an uphill battle, and she uses this graphic memoir to illustrate how they impact her life. It’s a powerful conversation starter about mental health, as well as a book to help readers feel seen and remember that better days are ahead. The art is simple and has a huge impact. I really appreciate Tung using her own experience to destigmatize mental health issues. A very affirming and approachable book.

This was like a self-help, autobiographical book about this author's struggles with depression and anxiety. This book was easy to read, the illustrations were great, and I loved the use of colors to demonstrate the happier times. I think this book will help people realize they are not alone in their mental health struggles.

This is the first book I've read by this author and it made me want to read all her work! The artwork is gorgeous and expressive, the message is important, and the relationships are beautiful. A great resource for those trying to understand mental health, depression, and anxiety.

I was half way through this graphic novel when I preordered a copy for my self. The feelings that I felt through out reading this... I don't have the words to describe how much this means to me. If you suffer from anxiety or depression give this one a chance the art work was so lovely and I cannot wait to have my own copy to revisit as I need to. this is a must read.

This was a beautifully illustrated book. The author clearly put a lot of her heart into it. It's amazing that the necessity of therapy is becoming such a normal thing to discuss. I wish I could go back in time and give this graphic novel to younger me, it definitely would've easied the dark cloud over her head.

Powerful, much needed book. We don't talk about mental health enough. Or maybe we talk about it, but we don't really talk about it. Much needed.

I chose this book because the cover looks so pretty and i thought it will be interesting. It didn't disappoint.

The art style is so pretty, the text is enough and its easy to follow. I love this book and how it shows what depression and anxiety looks for some people. The book goes through all the bad phases, all the insecurities and thoughts, everything that goes through one's mind even after getting help. It's not a happy ending book, it doesn't magically become better. It shows the slow progress, the ups and downs of recovery. It's a really nice book and even tho it hurted a bit to read it, I really loved it

The author tells their readers about a time in her life in which she was depressed and felt anxious to the point that it affected her entire wellbeing. As soon as I saw the cover, I figured that this is what it would have been about. While I have read a few of Ms. Tung's other works, this one hits a little different for her readers.

The fact that it is a comic book of sorts, makes it something that is more readable in my opinion. This is because as a reader, I now have a face to the person. I feel like I am following the person through their traumas and watching as they heal. In a sense, it feels like I have become their friend and their closest confidante to help them through this trying time.

Debbie does a great job in illustrating the thoughts and feeling of depression and anxiety for her readers to understand and know what it feels like. I loved following her on her journey, and it made me feel as though I should follow on my own journey as well. A bit of personal side note: When I first started to read this book, I was going into my first meeting with a therapist and it made me feel better as I waited for that dreaded first meeting to start.

I only have one hang up about the book. After going into her story, at one point it switches over to give advice and then I start to feel that the story has deviated a little bit. The things that are said in the comic are things that I heard before and they did not help me, so I noticed that I would start to skim over them a bit. Maybe it was just me. I understand that the author wants their readers to understand that they are not alone in this and she shows that fantastically, but towards the end of it, it felt monotonous. I hate to say this but it really did.

Other than that, I enjoyed the art work. It was beautifully done! The entire comic was easy to read and follow. I feel like the lines were crisp and the art really showcased the emotions that the author was trying to show in many of the panels.

Everything is OK is a non-fiction story about the author's struggle with anxiety and depression and how she's come to manage it in her life.

This is not a fix-it kind of book where the author tells you exactly how to "fix" your depression or anxiety, but more or a sharing of a relatable experience for those of us who also suffer from depression or anxiety or a good way for people who don't to learn what the world is like for people who struggle with mental health. Tung mentions it in her novel, but just knowing that you're not alone in dealing with mental illness goes a long way and this book just existing I think can do a lot of good for a lot of people.

The illustrations are also beautiful and the use of black and white vs color/watercolor pairs wonderfully with Tung's story.

I loved this book! Immediately recommended it to 3 people. The artwork is beautiful, the topic is poignant and so relevant, I haven’t felt so “seen” by a book in a long time. Great book.

This book gave a really honest depiction of dealing with anxiety and depression, and the author's use of colour to convey these emotions was really special. The last 50 pages felt a bit too 'preachy' for me, but overall I really enjoyed this book

I related to this graphic memoir about anxiety and depression. It flowed well and mixed continuous story telling with short moments of relatability. Reading this has been really helping with dealing with the last few weeks of summertime sadness. Having the confirmation that I'm not alone and mental health isn't linear really helped me be productive today. Very glad to have read this and will be buying it once it comes out. :)

*I received an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks for the free graphic novel*

"Everything Is OK" is about anxiety and depression, how one feels when suffering from it, but also a nuanced and positive look at how one can come out of the darkest places. As someone who has had depressive periods and who suffers from anxiety, this graphic novel was very touching and gave me hope. I had quite the anxious day today, but reading the comic helped me calm down. I felt less alone. Well drawn too and I like how colours are used to contrast depression / anxiety.

(Thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing me with a digital ARC to review.) Reading about the artist's life dealing with depression and anxiety was relatable and a comfort for me. The comics show how tough and messy living with depression and anxiety can be, but it also has a hopeful note of continuing on even if it's little by little.

Debbie Tung shares her experiences with what I would call late-onset depression, and I thank her for the vulnerability to do so. This graphic novel was extremely relatable with tales of depression and anxiety, and I love the role that color played - most of the book is in black and white as she's feeling her lowest but the rainbow slowly gets introduced as her mood elevates. By the end of the book you have full, beautiful pages of color. However, and I hate to say this, the writing was a little too succinct (dare I say "trite") for me. The simplicity can be a major draw for some, but for me, who has read much more complex takes on mental illness and has experienced revelations on mental illness for over a decade now, the simplicity ended up reading too much like a greeting card. I feel like this book would be a great gift to someone dealing with mental illness for the very first time. If you're someone who has dealt and read about mental illness for a long time, this book might not offer anything new to you, though it was a quick and visually appealing read. Again, I think anyone dealing with mental illness for the first time (or parents of someone struggling) would have a lot to take away from this book, but I feel like I've graduated past that having been mentally ill for as long as I can remember. Thank you so much, Debbie, for putting yourself out there, and I can't wait to read Book Love!

Thank you to the author, the publisher, and Net Galley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was actually good! ”Everything is OK” tells the moving story of the author's struggle with mental health and with daily problems. I would have preferred more in-depth scenes, but I can respect how much she shared with us and I appreciate her story and her courage to write and illustrate this book. I think this book is good for young adults and new adults, I would have loved to read it when I was a teen and it would have helped me. Books like this help us to understand that there is a way to everything and some things will turn out all right if we put our minds to doing so. It will be hard, yes, but it will be worth it in the end.

I'm not a huge non-fiction or memoir reader, but in graphic novel format, those genres work much better for me. This was a really accessible graphic novel about mental illness (depression and anxiety) and how it can be caused by, for instance, societal pressure to be productive. The art style of this is absolutely amazing, and I would actually love to see some pages as postcards or posters.
