This is a cute kid's version of The Holiday, minus the unresolved romantic drama. I enjoyed the dynamics of both families, and identified with Allie's middle child angst. I thought the sibling spats were well portrayed and realistic. The characters were well developed and showed growth by the end of the story. It was an entertaining and humorous read while also being heart-warming. There was even some educational historical knowledge toward the end. A good, clean middle grade novel with very little in the way of romance or friend drama.
