"Christmas at the Borrow a Bookshop" by Kiley Dunbar is a charming, heartwarming read perfect for the festive season. Set in the quaint seaside village of Clove Lore, the story offers a cozy escape into a world filled with books, romance, and a sense of community. Dunbar’s writing vividly captures the magic of Christmas, making it easy to get lost in the snowy, book-filled setting. The characters are endearing, and their journeys are both relatable and uplifting. While the plot is predictable in the best way, it's the warmth and comfort that make this book a delightful holiday read, ideal for those who love a good romance with a festive twist.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC of this book!!
I loved the descriptions of the village, the house and the characters. Believable, all. I read the first in the series a little while ago and just knew there was to be more good stuff awaiting Jowan and others. The way the natural environment impacts the characters(no spoilers here) was inspired and realistic.
This book focusses on Magnus and Alex. Magnus is Icelandic and feeling something of a failure since his own bookshop in Reykjavik has failed along with his relationship. Alex is stranded in Clove Lore after literally being washed ashore. She too has recently gone through a difficult break-up and is looking for somewhere to hide away. I loved the imagery of the handsome Viking rescuing the mermaid. While neither had any interest in a new relationship, they were very attracted to each other. Would they stand a chance against Mrs Crocombe matchmaking way? And then, the Borrow a Bookshop always does seem to bring love into the lives of its borrowers. I was certainly hoping that they would be the safe haven that each other needed.
Would definitely recommend!!

This book was cozy and cute! Great for a cold day, cozy blanket and cup of hot cocoa. I love these kind of cozy books to read between more serious books- the lighten the mood and make you smile!

This was soooo good! It's more women's fiction than romance, but I truly loved it. Exactly the cozy, warm, festive read you need this holiday season! I mainly loved our MMC Magnus, he's such a likeable character!

I absolutely loved this book. I couldn't put it down. It was so lovely. A perfect book for a cosy evening in.

This book is filled with community spirit and a lot of love. I did find it hard to connect to some of the characters as the POV was constantly switching and I'm not sure we needed all the different storylines.

Nevertheless this was still a quick, cosy read that you could easily finish in one sitting.

Is there anything better than a cosy Christmas read? They are my absolute favourites and Christmas at the Borrow a Bookstop is just the perfect addition to the genre.

This was a faultless, festive read and I loved it so much! You can’t go wrong setting a story in a bookshop. Really well written and an excellent sequel / addition to the series.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
This is the first book I have read by this author; I didn't feel that I'd joined the series late as the books can be read as a standalone but it would be better to read them consecutively for the story and character progression. I thought the book was beautifully -written with lovely passages about decorations and foods to evoke the feeling of Christmas, and empathy for the realistic characters. The disaster scenes brought home the very real horror and helplessness of living through such an event, but there were so many 'aahh' moments, the romance and love were so uplifting. Book 1 is now on my wishlist!

The description wasn't kidding when it said this book was cozy. I like how the main characters were so cute and just went for it with their relationship. probably a good thing with all the other stuff they had going on, but still, was super cute. This was a nice cozy read with found family and a cute romance. perfect comfort read to have you feeling all the warm fuzzies by the end.

I absolutely love this series of books. The characters are wonderful. Clove Lore sounds like such an idyllic place to visit and have a week in the bookshop too. Definitely recommend a read. I'm off to read book 3 now.

A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable and varied, the plot is one that is engaging and medium paced. I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.

I never realised this novel was a part of a series! Let’s just say this novel has me vibing on Christmas any time of the year!

I was so excited to have the opportunity to read this, especially because it felt like my very own Christmas in July!

I love reading novels that transport me to a new place and quaint towns/villages happen to be one of my favourites! I loved all the townsfolk of Clove Lore and learning about all their quirks. I especially enjoyed Magnus and Alex and their specific stories alone and together. You can’t help but root for them to find happiness, especially after what they have both been through.

This novel makes you feel all sorts of emotions so it is a definite pick me up and feel-good one.

Also, borrowing a bookshop sounds like a dream and I wish this was a thing in real life (is it? I need to know!)

This was such a cosy, romantic read that also really lets the community of characters shine where you can see the characters are very well developed.

I can’t wait to see who will be borrowing the bookshop next.

Magnus, from Iceland, is the next to set up for his two weeks at the Borrow A Bookshop. Meeting Alex, who reminds him of a mermaid, they slowly fall in love. Wonderful series, story and characters. Highly recommend and look forward to the next one.

I wish I had gotten time to read this at Christmas, but beyond that, I loved this book!! Christmas books always have a lovely feeling behind them and especially when they take place at a bookstore or with books! Books about books are really a popular genre now and I'm here for it! This book was fantastic for a book lover and one that I will return to every year at the holidays. I absolutely LOVED how they talked about the Yule tradition of giving and reading books on Christmas Eve. I wish I wasn't the only one in my family that loves to read so that I could implement this tradition at my Christmas Eve celebration.

Christmas at the Borrow a Bookshop by Kiley Dunbar was my first book by this author but it certainly won’t be my last. I loved it, set on the coastline of Devon at Christmas and in a Bookshop what more do you need? My idea of heaven. The storyline was great and I was hooked from the first few pages.

This is a sequel to The Borrow a Bookshop Holiday but it can be read as a standalone. It’s a great idea for another take on a romance novel. This time we have an intriguing Icelander nursing his bruised heart meeting a literally washed up woman.
When Alexander finds her life live is on the rocks she plans a rapid escape-by boat! The weather is against her and she lands in the village of Clove Lore. The only safe haven is the bookshop that Magnus has ‘borrowed’ for the Christmas holidays.
Together they can mend hearts and bring the community together unless the weather has other ideas.
It’s a clever trick to bring book lovers together and I feel like this business could take off as the real thing except I suspect the borrowers would have trouble leaving. It’s a sweet story and will have you reaching for your hot chocolate and an Icelandic sweater with or without a Magnus in it.

This was a faultless, festive read and I loved it so much! You can’t go wrong setting a story in a bookshop, even more so when it becomes a holiday by the sea too. Although this is the second book in the series, it can easily be read on its own and I found I enjoyed this one far more too. I'm excited to hear this isn't the end of the borrow a bookshop series!

Christmas at the Borrow a Bookshop is the second in the series and introduces a range of new characters with a look into the lives of some on the characters from the first book. There are trials, tribulations and even a natural disaster to contend with and this does not bode well for the bookshop.....

Magnus left his life as a bookseller in Iceland and meets Alexandra in Clove Lore. Will the bookshop work its magic once again or will past lives and the elements get in the way of a budding romance?

This was a lovely, cosy, easy Christmassy read and I will be looking forward to reading the next installment in the series later this year.
