This is a fun and informative read, taking us on a journey through the ages (from ancient Egypt to today). Along with the history of plants in the home, there are descriptions of various houseplants, care tips, even instructions for creating your own terrarium. While seasoned houseplant caretakers like myself may not find any new information in the care sections, the historical text is well worth checking out.
Thank you Netgalley.
It was such an informative and fun read.
Even though I am not much interested in plants I did enjoy the book but recently I bought new houseplants so I was interested to know more about the plants. I loved the illustrations
An entertaining history of how we came to have plants inside the house, in pots or vases and even bowls. As someone who has never been in a house where there aren't at least cacti inside and having several family members that are enthusiastic gardening aficionados, I couldn't resist the pull of curiosity leading me to pick up this book.
How exactly did we began the tradition of house plants, and why? I wanted to know, and wasn't disappointed. From the Neolithic age to our present day, this book tells you the entirety of the historical trends regarding house plants, their popularisation and the trends that have affected domestic vegetation at different periods in time. Some parts were more interesting to me than others, such as the "for prudes" chapter, the Victorian period chapter, and the females entering the workforce chapter; but overall I enjoyed this a lot.

This was such a fun read. I am an avid houseplant lover so this was right up my alley. From the very first page I knew I was going to love everything about this. It is fun, witty, clever. and full of sage advice so you can be successful with your houseplants. The illustrations are just beautiful. I loved this so much! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Very fun title, perfect for middle school and up beginning gardeners, or anyone interested in a basic history of somewhat domesticated plants or of an overview look at house plants (whether in the home or garden), historically as well as present day, ethical plant sourcing, and a really nice index on further reading about specific plants or methods you might be interested in learning more about.

This is such an interesting and unique plant book! Unfortunately, I had a bit of trouble accessing it, I didn't realize I wouldn't be able to read on my kindle. I was able to look through it on the app and I am very intrigued. It looks like a great mix of plant care and history. I've never seen a plant book like this before and will definitely be purchasing the hard copy once it's available.
It personally wasn’t my favorite but I can these this being really great for someone who wants to learn the history of events relating to plants.
