If you are looking for a mixed genre of western folklore, mystery, thriller, romance, fantasy and a little bit of everything else, you need look no further than the fictionalized story of a true life cowboy/criminal Bob Harold Leach. Jon Armour does an excellent job of spinning Bob's life story into a fascinating look at how one man could live so close to the line that he crossed it every now and then to spend a little time in prison. The era in which this tale is set is one of "everything goes" where the rules only applied if you got caught. Great story written in true western style.

It is an interesting book about a man named Bob Leach who worked around cattle married and later became known for cattle rustling among other things. He was a nice guy; maybe that is why he got into the mess he did and then turned into the man he became. Did he have millions stashed in oil drums around his property who knows? He was in prison and he was in fights and survived and also escaped I did remember reading a story from the L.A. Times of how five Texas prisoners who escaped and ended up in the L.A. area when they were found one was shot saying that Bob shot him but the gun was in his hand not Bob’s when they captured him. This story has many parts and is very interesting and worth the read.
