I’ve had multiple problems with my guts after antibiotics and found this an informative read. Recommend!

I had c.diff back in 2020 and I wish this book had been around then! It would have greatly helped me out and given me more information than I got from the er.

This book is very informative for patients or family dealing with C. diff. As someone who has had this in the past and as a nurse I would recommend this book!

A quick read, but definitely an excellent use of my time! I found myself identifying with more than one of Dr. Lamont’s patient scenarios (I have had recurring C. Diff for years from antibiotics following a dental abscess), and was able to immediately implement a couple of his suggestions to positive effect. It also got me thinking about the way long-term dietary habits impact the gut bacteria. There’s a lot of valuable information in this short book!

very useful guide to non clinical people. Explained in layman terms and would definitely be useful. The only downside was a lack of references to cleaning surfaces and linens. Great little guide and easily read within 30 minutes. Thank you #NetGalley for the book to review.

This book is very well set out and easy to follow for the lay reader. I believe C Diff is often unrecognised and untreated in the UK. A family member with terminal cancer picked up the infection in hospital and it was the CDiff that ended her life, not the cancer although that wasn’t noted on the death certificate.

I found the explanations throughout clear and detailed and it’s given me a useful insight into this infection and how it may be treated or even better, avoided. It’s a practical and useful resource.

My thanks to the publisher for a review copy via Netgalley.

I wanted to read this book as I contracted c.diff in a rehab hospital where I spent 9 days after I broke my ankle, had surgery with open reduction and internal fixation, and received IV infusions of keflex while in the hospital for almost five days before going to rehab. The experience described in this short but useful book is exactly what I experienced and brought back some very awful memories.

The author describes the experience of this intestinal infection extremely well. What I personally found most interesting was his excellent explanation of the perfect storm that sets people up for this infection, and, his discussion of implications for future treatment.

Clearly this book is not for most readers. But for those who contract c. diff, their loved ones, and friends, it is a fabulous resource.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.

C. Diff in 30 minutes by J. Thomas Lamont, MD, is an excellent resource and tool. As a healthcare provider who has experienced recurrent Cdiff infections, I found the information accurate and organized in a very helpful manner. It is a confusing diagnosis with multiple treatment options and so many people have a different story or experience. It is common to feel frustrated and feel like you are missing part of the story. Dr. Lamont has effectively compiled the various types of occurrences, treatments, and recurrences. I liked that there are 4 patient scenarios/stories that found healing in different ways. There is an excellent breakdown and explanation of how the infection happens, how it spreads, and how various treatments allow for resolution and healing. The only thing I would like to see added or discussed is how to increase the diet after an infection. There are so many foods that can help or hinder the healing process and some guidance with this would be beneficial. I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
