I loved this book so much. Was such a fun read and a super fast one for me I needed a much needed break from fantasy reads and this was exactly what I needed.
Scottish, Time Travel Romance
Lyla and her sister went to watch the stars and woke up hundreds of years in the past. If you want reality, this would not be the book for you, but if you want to escape into Scotland of the past, this is a wonderful book that will take you on an adventure that is sure to charm and entertain. There are two romances for the price of one. Two women, Lyla and her sister, travel to the dangerous Scotland of the past. Lyla meets Grant, a Highland chieftain who thinks she is a spy. Will he accept that she is a woman from the future? Abby meets her own warrior, and she ties him up in knots. The two sisters take us on a delightful romantic adventure. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like time travel, Scottish historical romance.
This is a captivating time travel story that caught my attention from the beginning and kept my interest all the way through. It is the fourth book of the Time to Love a Highlander series. Lyla and her twin sister Abby are transported back in time while they are watching a meteor shower in Edinburgh, 2019. They travel back to 1650, and are found by Chieftain Grant Reddoch. Thinking they are spies, he takes them prisoner. But it doesn't take long for his attraction to Lyla come to light, and he decides to marry her. But when she starts talking about her past, Grant thinks she has gone mad and decides to keep her locked up for her protection. Lyla is determined to prove herself to him and show him she wants to be a good wife to him and good mother to his children. She is quite an interesting character, and I loved her determination and feistiness. Though the main focus of the story was on Lyla and Grant, Abby also finds her own romance with Malcolm.
The story was interesting and well-written and I enjoyed the romance, excitement, and adventure. An entertaining read from start to finish and a magical escape to the past! I'm looking forward to reading more of this series!

Capturing Her Highland Keeper by Maeve Greyson is the fourth book of the Time to Love a Highlander series. Lyla Smythe and her sister Abby are opposites in all but their love of the stars. When they watch a meteor shower, something mysterious happens and the Edinburgh that they are used to is no longer before them. They appear to have gone back in time. When Chieftain Grant Reddoch comes across two oddly dressed and confused women, he takes them prisoner under the assumption that they are spies. Lyla has a certain ability to unnerve him, and after a while he decides to marry her. Lyla tries to tell Grant about her past, and he realizes she must be mad. Grant locks her up to protect her. He doesn’t want anything to happen to her like his first wife. This doesn’t deter Lyla from trying to prove herself to Grant. She wants to be a good wife and mother to his children.
This is an interesting read. Lyla was surprisingly level-headed given the situation. I found some of Grant’s actions a bit severe, but I could also understand where he was coming from based on his past.
This story was beautifully written. It puts you through so many emotions. There is a little spice, but it doesn’t take away from the story.
Truly enjoyed. Going back so many years is not easy when we are used to the modern conveniences, but somehow the two made it work. With the Love their men gave them it was all worthwhile and made everything alright. I now have to read the others in this series.
A remarkable story of Hope and Joy! This story captured me from the start. A true depiction of the bands of sisterhood. 2 sisters, Lyla & Abby, completely different in every way, get sent back in time. Lyla is strong, determined and level-headed, Abby is logical, smart and loyal. Though they loved each other, they often failed to see eye to eye. This picture of sisterhood rings true! The growing love between Lyla and Grant is the shining star of this book, of course. The drama of their past pulls such strong emotions though this story. I could feel their pain and heartbreak at every turn. The tensions created from Lyla’s truths kept me on the edge of my seat. I longed for their happy ever after and it did not fail to hit the emotions. The conclusion of this story had me in tears, happy tears. Another beautiful highland tale of love through the ages.
Lyla and her twin sister, Abby, are watching a meteor shower up on Arthur's Seat, enjoying some homemade wine. When they wake in the morning they are hundreds of years in the past, 1650, with Highland Chieftan Grant Reddoch and his War Chief, Malcolm, demanding answers of who they are, where did they come from, and wanting to know if Lyla and Abby are spies.
It is easy for Grant to read Lyla's face and know when Lyla is lying, so he remains suspicious of who they are and why there were on Arthur's Seat.
This is a fabulous story that shows how lies can be an instrument of destruction in a relationship. Grant and Lyla have some ups and downs as they aren't completely truthful with each other.
The story is entertaining, it definitely kept my attention throughout, and I love a good time travel romance.
The Heroine
Lyla Smythe is divorced from her ex-husband. While married she suffered the loss of a baby her husband had never wanted. Now she lives alone in a small apartment, struggling to pay the bills and unsure of what to do next. Her sister, Abby, is her polar opposite and successful therapist, but when she comes to visit, she only criticizes and questions all of Lyla's life choices. When they stumble back into the past together, they have to rely on each other and get past their differences. Lyla has a strong sixth sense that she relies on to help direct her steps, but when Grant makes her senses soar and she finds being with him feels right, she wants to stay in the past and be with Grant.
The Hero
Grant Reddoch is chieftain of the Reddoch clan. He lost his wife a few years ago when she killed herself after what sounds like depression or post-partum depression. He is raising his twins as a single dad while also taking care of his people in the clan. When he stumbles upon Lyla and her sister, he is suspicious as they seem confused and making up lies. He wants to trust his feelings for Lyla, but he is weary of her lying and the attachment his children are forming for her.
The Plot
This book in the series was more enjoyable than the first one; there were parts that I was a little annoyed with but it might lead to spoilers so I'll refrain from elaborating. Lyla and her sister take time to adjust to the past and their new lives, but Grant is patient and understanding. Grant, for the most part was the sweetest, but he super annoyed me at the end with his reaction to Lyla's time travel confession. He pushed her and pushed her to tell him the truth and when she finally did, he did the unthinkable. It definitely added to the drama of the story, but it was disappointing for him to react in such a way.

Twin sisters end up in the past as they watch a meteor shower at Arthur's Seat looking at Edinburgh in 2019. Blacking out, they wake up, but Edinburgh looks nothing like the Edinburgh they know. Two Scottish warriors appear. Grant Raddoch is Chieftain, and the other is Malcolm Cransie, Warchief to Clan Reddoch.

As usual a wonderful book that’s great at keeping your full attention.
Maeve has such a gift for this genre, one that was never a favourite of mine, but her books are a must for me now.
This has a beautiful story that has lots of emotion and is a wonderfully entertaining read.
Recommend!
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
Capturing Her Highland Keeper by Maeve Greyson is a time travel romance. The different thing is that two sisters are transported. One makes trouble in her life, the other seems to settle in. It is the opposite of what one would have predicted. Chieftain Grant and Reddoch and his War Chief, Malcolm Cransie came upon two strangely dressed women as they were in the hills above Edinburgh. It was Lyla and her sister, Abby. These women were fraternal twins and not all that close. They were as different as different could be in personality. Lyla had recently divorced and miscarried a baby her husband had never wanted. Abby had chased her to Edinburgh. She was a psychologist and didn’t believe Lyla was dealing with her situation. It was causing some strife between the two of them. The four returned to Grant’s keep where they met his children and his mother. It turns out he was a widower. His wife had killed herself, making him very wary of women in general. They weren’t thrown into a dungeon but they were locked in. He needed to know who they were and why they were here. He through they were spies. It turns out the keep was full of tunnels and it wasn’t long before Grant’s five-year-old twins found there way into Lyla’s room. They led her out so they could pick berries, but were , of course, discovered by Grant.
The ending is predictable. The characters are fairly good. Grant can tell she is lying, even after falling in love with her. She is lying: about where they came from. He would never believe her and on her wedding night, believing him to be asleep, she spills her secrets. She was right, he doesn’t believe her. Interestingly enough, his mother does. There are adventures for Grant and Lyla and their love story is pretty enticing. It was a good break in the day: not too heavy, not too serious. I enjoyed it.
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Capturing Her Highland Keeper by Dragonblade, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley. #dragonblade #maevegreyson #capturingherhighlandkeeper
Twins go back in time to 1650 Scotland and had no idea how it happened. I liked this story since there was a lot of it centered around getting others to believe the truth of time travel. Of course that didn't go over too well.
I liked Lyla and Grant's romance since they fit well together albeit in a interesting pairing. Lyla was definitely feisty and Grant struggled so much trying to get through the horror of his first marriage. Even though the main focus was on Lyla and Grant, Abby and Malcolm added a nice accompaniment too.
The interesting part in this book compared to others in this series was the lack of the constant push to return to current times. That was definitely appreciated since it became more about the romance and the trying to prove not to be crazy.
I am liking the variety in this series even with the similar time travel elements.
Thank you to Dragonblade and Netgalley for providing a copy of this ARC for my honest review.
The characters are well-developed, have lots of chemistry. And all the angsty drama leads to a happily ever after. Would I recommend it: Yes!
One moment Lyla and her sister Abby are drinking homemade wine under the stars during a meteor shower, the next moment they're sick and retching and Edinburgh as they know it is gone. Somehow they traveled back to the seventeenth century and are captured by Grant Reddoch, chieftain of Eadar castle, and suspected as spies. With their strange clothes and mannerisms, Grant knows they're lying, but the truth he demands is more dangerous in this time period than she's willing to risk. As time goes by, Grant knows he can't live without this enigmatic woman, but he still can't entirely trust her. After they marry, she agrees to tell him the truth. Can their love survive the unbelievable truth or will she be labeled a witch?
I loved Grant's character throughout most of this book so I couldn't believe how he treated Lyla after their marriage. This book was a little like three of my favorite stories mashed up into one: Outlander, Beauty and the Beast, and Gone with the Wind. I read the previous book in this series and enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I received an advance reader copy of this book. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and given voluntarily.
Don't we all dream of time travel? Well some of us more than others, but to go back in time and find a handsome Highlander, well, what more could you ask for!
Lyla and her sister end of back in the past and she finds herself with a handsome highlander. A little of insta love but who could resist?
Grant has not had the easiest time. With the uncles death, he does not trust many, especially with the political unrest. When he comes across Lyla, he does not know what to think but it greatly attracted to her.
Loved these two and the back and forth. Their journey to love is not exactly easy, but it is well worth everything!
Lyla Smythe and her sister might be twins, but the only thing they agree on is their love of the stars. A trip up to Arthur's Seat above Edinburgh with a few bottles of homemade wine seems like a good idea. Our heroine is terrified when they wake up back in 1650. Her normally sensible sister is too panicked to respond to the two warriors who approach.
Chiefton Grant Reddoch and his war chief have a mission to perform. But that will have to be put off when they find the strangely dressed women. They must be English spies.
A very amusing and at times emotional time travel romance. Our heroine's sixth sense is not very helpful. Our hero has faced tragedy before and that affects his actions. The story will keep you engaged from the first to last page. Really great fun.
I loved it.
4.5 Stars
Lyla Smythe is restless with that same uncomfortable edginess that always hits before a major life shakeup. She just needs to stay busy and ignore the feeling. Maybe it’s because her annoying twin Abby moved in. Opposites in every way, at least they share a love of the stars. Armed with homemade wine, they watch a meteor shower. But the wine must be tainted. One minute, they’re retching in the night, the next, it’s morning. And Edinburgh has somehow become a tiny hamlet. Before Lyla can sort it out, riders approach. The leader, a fiercely handsome man, sets her sixth sense buzzing. After his uncle’s execution, Chieftain Grant Reddoch trusts very few. When he comes upon two strangely dressed women acting addled, he’s certain they are spies. Best take them prisoner. Keep allies close. Keep those you don’t trust closer. The one called Lyla unnerves him. But the more he’s around Lyla, the more he needs her. And so, they wed. Then she tells him of her past and forces him to realize his error. He needs a wife and mother to his twins. Not a woman suffering from lunacy. He locks her away for her own safety.
The fourth book in the series & it’s very easily read on its own. A well written engrossing read, the characters have depth & are well portrayed, I loved both Grant & Lyla, whilst I liked Abby I wanted to shake her at times. The twins were a delight & Grant’s mother could have saved much heartache if she'd spoken sooner. I was surprised at Grant’s actions when Lyla revealed the truth & I certainly would have made him suffer before I forgave him! An easy to read page turner, which I loved
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I always look forward to reading Maeve Greyson time travel books and this one was no exception. I often wonder what it would be like to be able to go back in time so I live voraciously through these stories! I do think knowing your history would be very helpful as Lyla and her sister find out!
I loved Lyla's character, she sure was a force to be reckoned with and you never knew what was going to come out of her mouth! lol When she and her sister find themselves back in time, not only do they fear being thought of as witches, they each find a love that was meant to be. I wasn't too sure about Grant and the way he handled things but then with the past issues he'd gone through and the era, I can understand his reactions.
A story that had my interest from start to finish and a true pleasure to read. I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Lyla & Abby might be twins but they are completely different. Abby loves her career and living in the city. Lyla is free spirited and will help anyone. Everything changes when they pass out after drinking homemade wine and wake up in 1650. And are taken captive by Chieftain Grant Redditch & his war chief Malcolm Cransie.
How are they ever going to be able to return back to 2019. If they tell the truth they will be executed as witches.
It doesn’t stop Lyla falling for Grant but when he starts talking marriage & children she knows that she has to be honest with him. She only tells him a small part and she knows that she has to tell him everything. Her worst fear is realised when he doesn’t believe her. Lyla knows that she needs to escape before it is too late. Abby can’t leave as she is happy here with Malcolm but she doesn’t know how she could make it without Lyla being around.
Will the truth prevail at the end? Is this Lyla’s chance at happiness?
A great read very entertaining. Love the characters. Lyla & Abby are like night & day but they do love each other. Lyla is strong willed, kind hearted and she will help anyone. Abby is more worldly but very lonely as all she has is her job. Grant is a strong leader, father and a good man. Malcolm is less intense but also a good man.
Thank you Netgalley & the publisher for the copy. This is my voluntary review.
