This was a super fun paranormal fantasy retelling of Mr & Mrs Smith that sees a witch hunter and a witch falling in love and getting married without realizing who the other truly is. Told in flashbacks and full of suspense, spice and a great cast of secondary characters. This was a highly entertaining read and great on audio too narrated by Luke Daniels and Amy Landon. Highly recommended! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

I had seen references to this being a supernatural re-telling of Mr. & Mrs. Smith and I have to whole-heartedly agree with that description. The only difference between that movie and this book is that the main characters are a witch and witch hunter. I thought Ms. Bond did a wonderful job of creating a world for these characters that felt believable. In addition, she did a good job making me actually care about them. When their world was falling apart, I was concerned and wanted them to work through things. In addition, the side characters were strong and fun to read.

This story was told with flashbacks so you'd read about the present day and then flashback to how Savvie and Griffin's relationship began and progressed. It was a smart way to introduce the history of their relationship as well as other clues to what was going on in the storyline.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was fun, steamy and kept me reading. I enjoyed this book and will look for other books by this author.

First thanks NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this one through ReadNow. I loved the cover and was interested based on the description but unfortunately I did not like the writing. I was confused and could not tell if the writing was supposed to be funny or intentionally cryptic. I wish the author had taken a little more time in the beginning to set up all the characters before jumping into a plot and multiple settings. I had to keep rereading sentences to try to understand what was happening, who was speaking, or being spoken to. It was frustrating my reading experience and what ultimately led me to quit the book at 30%. I am not comfortable publicly rating a book that I did not choose to finish but will share my honest opinion here on NetGalley.

When a witch and a witch hunter find out at their wedding who the other is, emotions get out of control. Of course, calling of the wedding is the first thing to be done but with both of them given orders to axe the other, danger ensues.
Opinion
All I can say is "Wow!" This book is quite fast paced with all kinds of action involved. I loved how the author swung back and forth between current day and the past, exploring how they met and fell in love. The ending is well thought out and is definitely one that you would not have predicted.
I look forward to more awesome books by Gwenda Bond in the future.
Many thanks to Net Galley and to St. Martin's Press for providing me with an ARC of this book.

This book was so much fun. The perfect balance of witchiness, unconditional love, and comedy. The flashbacks were great and altho I wish they had been more streamlined they really help bring the whole story together. I loved the witty banter between the characters and found myself giggling out loud a lot. I enjoyed the magic system and the political structure that they had for hunters and witches. My history loving heart was also glad to see a slightly different take on Salem and some nods to witchy legends.

The premise is cool, the plot was fun (as soon as more people got involved), and the romance was cute. Did I love the premise and relive one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies to date while reading this? Absolutely (and no I will not apologize for it - Mr. and Mrs. Smith was a banger). Did some parts seem a little too cheesy and corny? Yes (I’m looking at you C.R.O.N.E. and H.U.N.T.E.R.). But it was all in good fun and I liked how they tied everything together at the end. The romance is cute - lovers to enemies to lovers (in literally like the span of a weekend) - but the chemistry between the two leads felt lacking in some areas and I really wanted that. I liked the potential of many of the secondary characters and would love to see what Bond does with them moving forward - hopefully there’s some development because most of them just kind of came off as flat. I liked the inclusion of the mother-daughter relationship between Savvy and her mother Claudia. Also, Mother Circe and her Yaga style chicken house was the best aspect and that’s that on that.

If you’re looking for a fun witchy romance that gives (at least me) nostalgia, then definitely think about picking up Mr. and Mrs. Witch.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for providing an e-arc copy in return for an honest review. Mr. and Mrs. Witch comes out 03/07/2023.

After enjoying the Not Your Average Hot Guy series by one of my favorite authors, I was excited when the publisher reached out and approved me for an e-galley of this from Netgalley. It was a quick read, and I really liked it! While I know that it was kind of a take off from the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which I’ve never seen, I enjoyed the different takes in a lot of it. The witches and the hunters that were enemies but for the two main characters, Savvy and Griffin to fall in love thinking they’d have to hide their secret identities from each other. It also reminded me a bit of the Buffy and Angel romance, except those two knew who the other was.

I loved the setting, and the world building, and the whole baba yaga thing was fun since I recently read the book, Into the Forest, with all the short stories about her. The connection between Savvy and Griffin was so perfect. I giggled at her friends accusing him of having a magic you-know-what. And her agreeing, lol. And the way he fell for her was very romantic and perfect.

One thing about the world I loved was the familiars. That was so neat! I want my own familiar, although I’m not a witch, so, I’ll have to settle for my dachshund pet dogs. Savvy’s friends Brie and Elle were a lot of fun as well. It was amusing for me since I’d just finished another book with a best friend named Brie. Griffin’s brother and buddy Diego were also fun. And while I know this is a standalone, and probably everything was wrapped up at the end, I think it’d be fun to have a series where we get to see these friends and family members find their own HEAs.

I LOVED this book! Covert agents for two top-secret enemy organizations (powerful witches of C.R.O.N.E. and powerful human with hunters with H.U.N.T.E.R.) fall in love and only realize their secret identifies in the middle of their wedding!!
Chaos erupts as Savvy and Griffin both react to each others' calculated betrayal; to make matters worse, both organizations order Savvy and Griffin to kill the other as their newest mark or face expulsion from the organization. Rallied by a motley crew of fun secondary characters and magical familiars, Savvy and Griffin both reflect back on their relationship timeline to figure out how the missed all the signs of each others' identities, and must attempt to solve the mystery of their organizations. origination and whether they are truly enemies or possible working towards the same goals.
The writing was wonderful, the plot moved at a rapid paste, the relationship flashbacks were full of sexual tension, and the adventures were so fun! I really hope this is the start of a new series because I am ready to return to this world for more fun.

I loved Mr. and Mrs. Smith (Dir. D. Lyman, 2005). My favorite genre is bantering and if you throw in a little ka-boom along the way all the better. Gwenda Bond capitalizes on their success and adds lots of heat too.

The addition of the fantasy and paranormal aspects really makes Mr. & Mrs. Witch a fun read. You kind of know what is going to happen until you add magic and an ex-girlfriend to the mix.

Witch is a fast read. I read it in one sitting and had a great time. Escapism at its best.

This one took a bit to understand but then it got really good. I loved the characters and the dual POVs. It was a quick, fun read and I was rooting for the romance. A little more world building would have made a big difference but overall it's a good story.

Savannah (Savvy) and Griffin are about to get married. Unbeknownst to either Savy or Griffin they happen to belong to organizations that work against each other. Savvy is a very powerful witch, and Griffin works for an organization that used to hunt witches, but now deals mostly with the supernatural. because of some guests at the wedding, they both find out they are working opposite one another.

At one point Savy and Griffin realize that each of the organizations has secrets, and now they need to work together, in order to survive and find out the truth. The book does go back to show you how they first met and how instantaneous their chemistry is. They are an interesting couple with immense chemistry and find it difficult to not want to get back together.

All of the side characters have interesting, personalities and add to the story. It’s an interesting world and the book is very fast paced. All in all this is one of the best which romances I have read recently.

Mr. & Mrs. Witch, the story of Savannah and Griffin, was a cute and quirky read about a couple who decide to get married, but still needed to disclose on tiny fact to each other first. Savannah is a witch and Griffin is a hunter. And the guests for their nuptials are a surprise to each other! This news was a shock to each other, but even more so for those that they work for. Because of this hidden fact and the havoc that followed, Savannah was banned from her coven and Griffin lost his job as a hunter.

As the story unfolds, you learn more about the couple while they work to solve the puzzle that is in front of them. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun story to read especially if you are a fan of the 'Mr & Mrs Smith' movie. I enjoyed the element of the supernatural secret organization. This book does jump between present day events of the past. I normally do not like that but I thought the author did a good job balancing the different events. It feels like it might be setting up for a series so I would be interested in seeing what happens next.

Mr. and Mrs. Witch by Gwenda Bond
⭐️⭐️⭐️ / Pages: 352 / Genre: Supernatural Romance

Savvy, a witch, and Griffin, a hunter of all things supernatural, let their powerful feelings for each other override the practicality of hiding their true selves from each other. After a whirlwind romance, they decide to get married and at the wedding, their true identities are revealed. All hell breaks loose and they’re ordered to kill each other. But first, they’re determined to figure out what’s really going on between their two factions.

This cute contemporary witchy romance was a fun, fast read full of magic, action, and romance. I give it a high three stars.

Thank you Netgalley and St Martins Press for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was super fun and entertaining. The characters were fun and very distinct. I loved the addition of the familiars. Like many I watched Mr and Mrs Smith too young and loved it. This was a fun take on it and the addition of magic added a bit of a bewitched spin. I really enjoyed it.

This was so much fun…If you’ve seen this book described as a paranormal Mr. and Mrs.Smith and happen to like and remember the movie, you’ll be justified in thinking that you already know a lot about the main characters and the plot, but it’s not all that predictable. It is all about the journey and not the destination (which is a HEA in case you were wondering). The author introduced a bit of suspense, lots of wonderful adventures, a full cast of supportive families and friends to help our protagonists dig themselves out of trouble, and a whole lot of romance.
Savvie and Griffin belong to the opposite camps of the neverending supernatural fight against dark and evil forces. She is a powerful witch whose job as a special forces operative is to neutralise harmful magic before it can do any damage. He is a hunter whose job ….is more or less the same. Historically, their super-secret agencies used to fight each other, although these days they are more focused on keeping the non-supernatural world oblivious to the existence of magic, harmful and otherwise, and staying out of each other’s way in the process, which is assured by the accords signed several centuries away. So what if you might have to keep your real identity secret from the person you love- isn’t it a small price for keeping them safe? and if you really, really love someone the way Savvie and Griffin love each other, wouldn’t you want them to be blissfully unaware of the dangers you face every day? and this is how our protagonists manage to keep their secrets…until things go pear-shaped on their wedding day and they suddenly find themselves running for their lives, wondering how on earth the person they trusted the most turned out to be the enemy…and what to do with this pesky feeling that despite all the secrets and lies they did manage to find their true love in each other.
Sometimes you have to work on your relationship, sometimes you need to listen to what your significant on is saying, however angry and upset you feel…and sometimes you just have to follow your heart. Don't miss out on this deliciously entertaining romcom!

So, I will be the first to admit that I loved Mr. & Mrs Smith the movie. A couple who got married not knowing that each of them was a secret agent. Then once they discover each identity, they are authorized to kill one another.

Well, we had all that, in my favorite genre: fantasy.

Fantasy-style rom-com are starting to trend in the publishing world, and I am all for that. It is a great way to introduce yourself to fantasy as a romance genre reader.

The lovely couple that didn’t know their future spouse's identity was Savvy our witch and Griffin our hunter. These two clandestine groups have it for each other. Both go way back to bad blood and they absolutely despise one another.

On the day of their wedding, that is when crap hits the fan and Savvy and Griffin find out each other's true identity. Feeling betrayed by one another, they started attacking each other and had to flee the scene before it got worse.

Things got more interesting when both sides were ordered to take out one another. Will their love stand or would they fall to the years of bad blood?

This book is told in a dual timeline where it talks about their present and their past and how they met each other for the first time.

I thought this was a fun way to tell a story. It was super creative and I love the characters. The ending was heartwarming and super cute.

I feel that the past timeline really slowed down the story. By the time you were really getting into what was happening in the present, it was interrupted by a long story of the past. I really loved the background on how Savvy and Griffin met, but it felt drawn out in those sections.

I will admit, the witches in this book were super cool and powerful. The hunters, meh, not scary at all. They have a few tools in their belt and that was it. I felt like the fighting scenes could have been described just a tiny bit better because it felt like they lacked detail.

Overall, this wasn’t a bad read with some minor details that I would change.

But if you want a cute fantasy rom-com style read, this is a good one.

If you're at all familiar with the spy-secretly-marries-spy plot of the movie Mr & Mrs Smith, then you know what's going to happen in this book. What I wasn't expecting was how fun and insane Bond's story of a witch and a witch hunter dating, getting engaged, and finding out each other's secret identities in the middle of the wedding actually is. The chaos that ensues leads to massive revelations that not only affect Savvy and Griffin but their entire communities.
It's a fun plot that jumps between the present battles and the moments that defined Savvy and Griffin's relationship, giving readers a chance to slowly get to know the characters and those around them in the middle of a very fast-paced plot.
I particularly enjoyed how even among all the very serious betrayals, revelations, and action, Bond managed to include both very romantic moments and very funny ones. It's a perfectly balanced plot despite the fact that so many things are going on at once.
Overall, it's a fun if predictable story told with great characters that hits all the good spots of fun, romantic, and action-packed.

Very happy thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for the very fun romance read!
