This story had very creative world-building! A witch and a human witch-hunter fall in love, although both have hidden their true selves from the other. Witches and witch-hunters work in secret organizations to protect the world against evil magic. Skully and Griffin were raised to believe the other group is their enemy. The oldest and most powerful witch-hunter and witch both have shown up for the wedding. Their secrets and a truce between the organizations blow up before the vows. The story line goes back and forth in time, from the wedding day, to how Skully and Griffin first met, to what is going on between the organizations. The plot has some surprising twists, good supporting characters and a satisfying HEA. I downgraded one star only because the time-switches sometimes took me out of the story before I could get back into the rhythm again. Very original and entertaining book! I look forward to reading more of this author’s writing.

Mr and Mrs Witch releases on 7 March! The storyline was inspired by the movie Mr and Mrs Smith, but with witches and hunters. This story is told in present day and in the past with alternative POV all clearly labeled. He’s a hunter, she’s a witch, and everyone is out to get them, so they have to band together…
.
I love the back story of how they meet and keep missing clues about each other’s real identities.
I enjoyed this one overall, the ending, which I expected to be on the edge of my seat, was a little lackluster for me, but the rest is so fun, steamy, and swoony that I would recommend for anyone who likes open door paranormal romances. Thank you @netgalley and @smpromance

Witch books are the current hot trend in paranormal romance. I've read several recent releases in this genre, with mixed results. I snapped up this ARC as soon as I saw it, based on the title alone. A Mr. and Mrs. Smith styled plot, translated to a para romance story? Count me in.

Set in modern day, the world building was fresh and markedly different from other current witchy books. The plot was exactly what I expected from the title, and it worked. I liked that familiars were active characters, alongside their witch counterparts. I largely enjoyed the world, the plot, and the characters, although I felt the narrative dragged some when the main characters were separated. The story flowed better and was much more engaging when they were together. Good action scenes along with some nice twists and turns along the way. I'd recommend this one as a fun paranormal romance.

Thank you to St. Martin's Griffin via Netgalley for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

Have you ever wished that the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith was a paranormal romance novel? If so, your wish has been granted. And weirdly, I feel like that comment gives away the entire basic plot of this book. But I'm also pretty sure that I'd made that judgement call in the very beginning of the book, which would be accessible as a preview through Amazon anyway, so...

Even with pretty much knowing the basic plot of the story early on, I still wanted to keep reading to see how the characters got there. The story is told jumping back and forth between the start of the relationship and the present, jumping between both main characters heads as well so you get to see the whole story unfold from both angles. The past sections made the present sections a bit frustrating because there was clearly a lot of misunderstanding and assumptions being made. But I also liked the past sections more overall.

And I really don't want to get into too much more detail because I feel like that would seriously spoil the book for people who don't want real spoilers. Overall I give this book 3.9 out of 5 stars.

I was crestfallen when Savvy and Griffin’s beautiful wedding day imploded. Their secrets they’ve kept from each other came to light and now it’s full on CRONE v. HUNTER.
Or is it?
They still love each other so why do they have to be enemies?
This book as all the sorcery, supernatural, and witchy elements a reader could want.
It also a a HEA, which everyone in the universe deserves,

This book was so fun! It's witches and witch hunters, dueling spies, unknowing enemies to lovers to enemies to allies to lovers. And also there's a capybara named Captain Bear (arguably the most important element).

Savvy and Griffin are on opposite sides of a centuries-old magical conflict. Except, when they meet, they don't know that. And they immediately fall into lust with each other. Which turns into crush. Which turns into love. Sure, they both know they have big secrets, but that doesn't stop them from making it all the way to the altar. At which point, all their secrets and lies come crashing down around them. It's only when they find themselves unwilling allies at the center of something bigger that they realize that maybe their first instincts about each other were the right ones - magical conflict be damned.

The entertaining and action-packed plot was probably my favorite part of this book, followed by the fun side characters and assorted familiars (Captain Bear!!!). Savvy and Griffin held down the main character spots just fine, but magical mayhem aside, they were both fairly run of the mill. Still, their scenes together were emotional and hilarious in turns, and they exchanged some solid banter. I didn't feel totally grabbed by either one of them, but in a book like this, where the plot is the key, I didn't feel too bothered by that.

I think my main issue was the occasional odd writing choices, including the use of third person present tense, which took some getting used to for my brain. It was a little distracting, but not so terrible that I couldn't eventually sink into the story.

All in all, a very fun read that wraps up magic and spy games in one!

This quirky supernatural romcom was so fun, and felt so fresh and new. I loved the way Gwenda Bond took a popular movie and gave it a twist that made the entire concept feel new.

This book was light on spice, but HEAVY on action, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Because there was so much action, the story didn't drag. It went from zero to one hundred and stayed there until the end. I also really loved how the author used flashbacks, it really worked for this book.

I definitely recommend this book, especially for fans of supernatural romance!

Savannah, Savvy, Wilde is a powerful witch who is doing the unthinkable. She's marrying a man without supernatural powers. Except Griffin Carter isn't exactly your ordinary man. He's a member of an organization that used to hunt witches, but now just waylays supernatural threats. The problem is that Savvy and Griffin have kept their secret identities from each other. As they get ready to exchange their vows, their secrets come out. Now, both their missions are to kill each other. Savvy and Griffin soon find themselves as allys after discovering a shocking secret. Now they are working together as they are chased down by assassins who are out to collect the bounty on their heads. Can they put aside their differences to give themselves a second chance at love and marriage?

Mr. & Mrs. Witch is a witchy nod to Mr. & Mrs. Smith. This was full of romance, supernatural fun, and action. It was a fast-paced book that kept me engaged from beginning to end. Savvy and Griffin were such a sweet couple. You could tell that they loved each other, despite everything stacked against them.  The supporting characters were just as fun, and it seems like there's potential for more books to be written with these characters.

A fun, silly romance about a witch and a witch hunter who fall in love, not knowing that they're enemies. Think Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but with witchcraft! A light, enjoyable read. See link for full review.

I am so in love with the witchy romance trend and I don't want it to end! This book captured the vibes of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and gave us a perfect enemies-to-lovers romance, while also bringing in the fun cozy paranormal vibes that I love. So much fun! Thanks to SMP and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I am officially a Gwenda Bond Stan. Her books have amazing characters in wild and unbelievable scenarios and it all just works so well.

Griffin and Savvy find out on the altar that they secretly belong to organizations that hate each other — witches & hunters. So obviously they never make it to I Do. But while both are trying to stay alive in the aftermath, they begin to question the beliefs they’ve held on to for so long — and if there is a way for them to work, and stay, together.

So unique & so fun and filled with an incredible cast of characters I hope we see more of!

This is a story of how Savannah and Griffen, met, parted, met again and started a relationship that was doomed to fail. Or at least end up in a catastrophic wedding day.

The while they dated, they remained ignorant of their true identities – Savannah, a witch, and Griffen, a member of an organization that used to hunt witches. While they detested each other’s respective affiliations, the truth is, they were all working toward the same goals. Their wedding will be the scene of all sorts of surprising and distressing revelations that immediately turns them into enemies.

But they love each other. How can this have happened? Is there a way to fix it? And that is the story. Fixing it.

I found the plot somewhat predictable. It was easy to spot the villains from early on and shortly after, the villains’ motivation becomes apparent. Still, there is an adventure in overcoming the bad people. Savannah and Griffen both have friends and family that are willing to go against orders and help them out. I don’t know if Gwenda Bond plans to turn this into a series, but among the friends and family of Savannah and Griffen, are several potential main characters, including a couple whose insults and snide remarks are absolutely the result of an attraction they want to deny.

Magic, romance, humor, and adventure will have readers enjoying this story of friends to lovers to enemies to, hopefully, lovers again!

Through NetGalley, the publisher provided a copy of this book. My review is my honest opinion.

This one is mental popcorn in the best way! I love the enemies to partners vibes that this one gives when everything seemingly falls apart when our Mc’s have to either fight to the death or team up against those coming after them.

If you enjoyed Mr. & Mrs. Smith this is the bookish fantasy version and you should definitely check it out!

This was a fun, witchy rom-com. If I’ve seen Mr. & Mrs. Smith it’s been years and years, but I got the impression that this was somewhat inspired by that. Either way, I enjoyed the world-building and magic in this book. It was definitely more witchcraft than spy-craft. The plot was a little predictable and the ending was wrapped up a little neatly, but that didn’t reduce my enjoyment.

Thank you to the publisher - I received a complimentary eARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I don’t have much to say about this one. I didn’t really enjoy it and therefore I DNFd the book. I think this will work for a lot of people just not me.

Totally implausible but also very entertaining this is an enemies to lovers story like no other. Savvy is a witch and devoted to protecting other witches while Griffin is a witch hunter- and they're a couple. Yep. This throws a real paranormal loop into the trope and makes it smile. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. For when you want something light.

Savannah is a secret operative for C.R.O.N.E. (Covert Responses to Occult Nightmares by Enchantresses).
Griffin is a secret operative for H.U.N.T.E.R. (Humans Undertaking Nocturnal Terror and Evil Reduction).
Witches and hunters have been taught that the other group is evil and dangerous. The last thing a witch and hunter should be doing is getting married. But that is what Savannah (Savvy) and Griffin intend to do, as they are unaware of who the other person really is.

However, the wedding does not happen, their identities are revealed, they are ordered to kill each other by the leaders of their groups (Mother Circe and the Butcher of Salem respectively), and soon find themselves being hunted, with sizable bounties on their heads.

The story alternates between the present, where they discover what they have been taught to believe is not entirely true, and the past detailing how they met and how their relationship developed.

There is a great cast of supporting characters, including Savvy’s familiar, Paris, a leopard who normally appears as a cat; other interesting familiars; Savvy’s best friends; Griffin’s brothers; and Melissa the Gorgon, or as she is known to her Instagram followers, Modern Medusa.

Mr. & Mrs. Witch by Gwenda Bond is if Me & Mrs. Smith took place in the supernatural world where the witch takes on one of the hunters trying to take them out in the centuries long feud.

The switching timelines, while obviously very important to get all the information, seemed to just pull me out of the story for some reason. I could never fully immerse myself in the story, so I struggled to connect to the characters in the love story. While I wanted to love this, I just don’t think this is the story for me personally

Massive thanks to NetGalley & St. Martin’s Griffin for the free arc, which I voluntarily read & reviewed.

Overall this was a cute fantasy-esque romance with a decent [though obvious] Spy v Spy or Mr & Mrs Smith vibe to it.

I had a difficult time getting into this story for the first 25% or so of the book while everything was being built for the last 75% of the book, but once I got past that point it was easier to be drawn into the story being told.

I personally wasn't a huge fan of the characters but I could see how they worked for the story being told. I did appreciate that there was a lot of character development in terms of breaking away from teachings that were ingrained in them & willingness to seek the truth & adjust their beliefs when given new facts or information.

This book is a magical romance adventure between two opposing forces (C.R.O.N.E. And H.U.N.T.E.R.S.) Our main characters Savvy and Griffin are about to get married, and things go south. Both pledged to different groups, it starts as a magical Romeo and Juliet. The Butcher and Mother Circe, leaders of the groups, put a bounty on our main characters and the story doesn’t stop.

It is twisty and turny, and you get to see how Savvy and Griffin fall in love, and how they end up working together to stay together.

Definitely recommend, think it’s adorable for anyone who loves: Romeo and Juliet, magic, mafias, adventure, love, and stories told in split time lines.
